Production and Integration of the ATLAS Insertable B-Layer / ATLAS IBL Collaboration
During the shutdown of the CERN Large Hadron Collider in 2013-2014, an additional pixel layer was installed between the existing Pixel detector of the ATLAS experiment and a new, smaller radius beam pipe. The motivation for this new pixel layer, the Insertable B-Layer (IBL), was to maintain or improve the robustness and performance of the ATLAS tracking system, given the higher instantaneous and integrated luminosities realised following the shutdown. Study of Charge Diffusion in a Silicon Detector Using an Energy Sensitive Pixel Readout Chip / Schioppa, E. J. (NIKHEF, Amsterdam) ; Idarraga, J. (NASA, Houston) ; van Beuzekom, M. (NIKHEF, Amsterdam) ; Visser, J. (NIKHEF, Amsterdam) ; Koffeman, E. (NIKHEF, Amsterdam) ; Heijne, E. (NIKHEF, Amsterdam ; CERN ; IEAP CTU, Prague) ; Engel, K. J. (Philips Research Eindhoven, Amsterdam) ; Uher, J. (Amsterdam Scientific Instruments, Amsterdam)
A 300 μm thick thin p-on-n silicon sensor was connected to an energy sensitive pixel readout ASIC and exposed to a beam of highly energetic charged particles. By exploiting the spectral information and the fine segmentation of the detector, we were able to measure the evolution of the transverse profile of the charge carriers cloud in the sensor as a function of the drift distance from the point of generation. Design of the analog front-end for the Timepix3 and Smallpix hybrid pixel detectors in 130 nm CMOS technology / Gaspari, M De (CERN) ; Alozy, J (CERN) ; Ballabriga, R (CERN) ; Campbell, M (CERN) ; Fröjdh, E (CERN) ; Idarraga, J (CERN) ; Kulis, S (CERN) ; Llopart, X (CERN) ; Poikela, T (CERN) ; Valerio, P (CERN) et al.
This paper describes a front-end for hybrid pixel readout chips, which was developed for the Timepix3 and Smallpix ASICs. The front-end contains a single-ended preamplifier with a structure for leakage current compensation which can handle both signal polarities, and a single-threshold discriminator with compensation for pixel-to-pixel mismatch. The Measurement of Spectral Characteristics and Composition of Radiation in ATLAS with MEDIPIX2-USB Devices / CERN Mediapix Collaboration
A network of devices to perform real-time measurements of the spectral characteristics and composition of radiation in the ATLAS detector and cavern during its operation is being built. This system of detectors will be a stand alone system fully capable of delivering real-time images of fluxes and spectral composition of different particle species including slow and fast neutrons. Flavour tagged time dependent angular analysis of the $B_s \rightarrow J/\psi \phi$ decay and extraction of $\Delta\Gamma$ and the weak phase $\phi_s$ in ATLAS / ATLAS Collaboration
A measurement of the $B_s \rightarrow J/\psi \phi$ decay parameters, updated to include flavour tagging is reported using $4.9 fb^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity collected by the ATLAS detector from $\sqrt{s}= 7$TeV $pp$ collisions recorded in 2011 at the LHC. The values measured for the physical parameters are: \begin{eqnarray*} \phi_s & = & 0.12 \pm 0.25(stat.)\pm 0.05(syst.)rad \\ \Delta\Gamma & = & 0.053 \pm 0.021(stat.) 0.010(syst.)ps^{-1} \\ \Gamma_s & = & 0.677 \pm 0.007 (stat.)\pm 0.004 (syst.)ps^{-1}\\ |A_{\parallel}(0)|^2 & = & 0.220 \pm 0.008 (stat.)\pm 0.009(syst.)\\ |A_{0}(0)|^2 & = & 0.529 \pm 0.006 (stat.)\pm 0.012(syst.)\\ \delta_\perp & = & 3.89 \pm 0.47(stat.) \pm 0.11(syst.)rad \end{eqnarray*} where the parameter $\Delta\Gamma$ is constrained to be positive. Development of novel n+-in-p silicon planar pixel sensors for HL-LHC / Unno, Y (KEK, Tsukuba) ; Gallrapp, C (CERN) ; Hanagaki, K (Osaka U.) ; Hara, K (Tsukuba U., GSPAS) ; Hori, R (KEK, Tsukuba) ; Idarraga, J (IUT, Orsay) ; Ikegami, Y (KEK, Tsukuba) ; Inuzuka, T (Hamamatsu Photonics) ; Ishida, A (Hamamatsu Photonics) ; Ishihara, M (Hamamatsu Photonics) et al.
We have been developing highly radiation-tolerant n^+-in-p planar pixel sensors for use in the high-luminosity LHC. Novel n^+-in-p structures were made using various combinations of the bias structures (punch-through or polysilicon resistor), isolation structures (p-stop or p-spray), and thicknesses (320@mm or 150@mm). A new type of n-in-p planar pixel sensors have been developed at KEK/HPK in order to cope with the maximum particle fluence of 1-3x10^1^6 1MeV equivalent neutrons per square centimeter (n_e_q/cm^2) in the upcoming LHC upgrades. Four n-in-p devices were connected by bump-bonding to the new ATLAS Pixel front-end chip (FE-I4A) and characterized before and after the irradiation to 2x10^1^5n_e_q/cm^2. [...]

Jet energy measurement and its systematic uncertainty in proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s}$=7 TeV with the ATLAS detector / ATLAS Collaboration
The jet energy scale (JES) and its systematic uncertainty are determined for jets measured with the ATLAS detector using proton-proton collision data with a centre-of-mass energy of $\sqrt{s}=7$ TeV corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.7 fb$^{-1}$. Jets are reconstructed from energy deposits forming topological clusters of calorimeter cells using the anti-k$_t$ algorithm with distance parameters $R=0.4$ or $R=0.6$, and are calibrated using MC simulations. Light-quark and gluon jet discrimination in $pp$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=7$ TeV with the ATLAS detector / ATLAS Collaboration
A likelihood-based discriminant for the identification of quark- and gluon-initiated jets is built and validated using 4.7 fb$^{-1}$ of proton--proton collision data at $\sqrt{s}=7$ TeV collected with the ATLAS detector at the LHC.  Data samples with enriched quark or gluon content are used in the construction and validation of templates of jet properties that are the input to the likelihood-based discriminant.
