Experiments with neutron beams for the astrophysical s process
/ Lederer, C (Frankfurt U. ; Vienna U. ; Edinburgh U.) ; Altstadt, S (Frankfurt U.) ; Andrzejewski, J (Lodz U.) ; Audouin, L (Orsay, IPN) ; Barbagallo, M (INFN, Bari) ; Bécares, V (Madrid, CIEMAT) ; Bečvář, F (Charles U.) ; Belloni, F (Saclay) ; Berthoumieux, E (Saclay ; CERN) ; Billowes, J (Manchester U.) et al.
Neutron capture cross sections are the key nuclear physics input to study the slow neutron capture process, which is responsible for forming about half of the elemental abundances above Fe. Stellar neutron capture cross section can be measured by the time-of-flight technique, or by activation. [...]

Stellar neutron capture cross sections of $^{41}$K and $^{45}$Sc
/ Heil, M (Darmstadt, GSI) ; Plag, R (Darmstadt, GSI) ; Uberseder, E (Notre Dame U.) ; Bisterzo, S (INFN, Turin ; Turin Observ.) ; Käppeler, F (KIT, Karlsruhe) ; Mengoni, A (CERN) ; Pignatari, M (Hull U. ; Konkoly Observ.)
The neutron capture cross sections of light nuclei (A<56) are important for s-process scenarios since they act as neutron poisons. We report on measurements of the neutron capture cross sections of K41 and Sc45, which were performed at the Karlsruhe 3.7 MV Van de Graaff accelerator via the activation method in a quasistellar neutron spectrum corresponding to a thermal energy of kT=25 keV. This work reports on accurate, high-resolution measurements of the $^{25}$Mg($n, \gamma$)$^{26}$Mg and $^{25}$Mg($n, tot$) cross sections in the neutron energy range from thermal to about 300 keV, leading to a significantly improved $^{25}$Mg($n, \gamma$)$^{26}$Mg parametrization. The relevant resonances for $n+^{25}$Mg were characterized from a combined R-matrix analysis of the experimental data. [...]

Measurement of the 54,57Fe(n,γ) Cross Section in the Resolved Resonance Region at CERN n_TOF

Fe-54 and Fe-57 are stable iron isotopes, which play an important role in the nucleosynthesis of the slow neutron capture process (s process). In addition, these nuclei are present in many structural materials, and therefore, the knowledge of their neutron capture cross sections is of importance for reactor design studies. [...]

The capture cross sections of $^{241}$Am and $^{243}$Am were measured at the n_TOF facility at CERN in the epithermal energy range with a BaF2 Total Absorption Calorimeter. A preliminary analysis of the $^{241}$Am and a complete analysis of the $^{243}$Am measurement, including the data reduction and the resonance analysis, have been performed..

The neutron capture cross section of U-238 is fundamental to the design and operation of current reactors and future fast nuclear reactors, and thus must be measured to a high level of accuracy. An experiment has been performed at the CERN n TOF facility using a 4 pi Total Absorption Calorimeter (TAC) to measure the capture cross section in the resolved resonance region between 1 eV and 25 keV.
