Study of resonance formation in the mass region 1400 - 1500 MeV through the reaction $\gamma\gamma \to K^{0}_{S} K^{\pm} \pi^{\mp}$ / L3 Collaboration
The K^0_SK^+-\pi-+ final state in two-photon collisions is studied with the L3 detector at LEP at e+e- centre-of-mass energies from 183 to 209 GeV with an integrated luminosity of 664.6 pb-1. The \eta(1475) and f1(1420) mesons are observed and their contribution is separated by measuring the formation rates as a function of the photon virtuality Q2. [...]

The Solar Flare of the 14th of July 2000 (L3+C detector results) / L3 Collaboration
Several experiments have reported observations on possible correlations between the flux of high energy muons and intense solar flares. If confirmed, these observations would have significant implications for acceleration processes in the heliosphere able to accelerate protons and other ions to energies of at least tens of GeV. [...]

A search for flaring Very-High-Energy cosmic-ray sources with the L3+C muon spectrometer / L3 Collaboration
The L3+C muon detector at the Cern electron-position collider, LEP, is used for the detection of very-high-energy cosmic \gamma-ray sources through the observation of muons of energies above 20, 30, 50 and 100 GeV. Daily or monthly excesses in the rate of single-muon events pointing to some particular direction in the sky are searched for. [...]

An X-ray scanner for wire chambers / Åkesson, T ; Arik, E ; Assamagan, K A ; Baker, K ; Benjamin, D ; Bertelsen, H ; Bychkov, V ; Callahan, J ; Capéans-Garrido, M ; Catinaccio, A et al.
The techniques to measure the position of sense wires and field wires, the gas gain and the gas flow rate inside wire chambers using a collimated and filtered X-ray beam are reported. Specific examples are given using barrel modules of the Transition Radiation Tracker of the ATLAS experiment..

Measurement of Branching Fractions of $\tau$ Hadronic Decays / L3 Collaboration
Using data collected with the L3 detector at LEP at the Z peak, the branching fractions of the $\tau$ lepton into the hadronic final states, $h^- n\pi^0 \nu(n=0,1,2, >= 3)$ and $h^-h^+h^- n\pi^0 \nu$ where $h^\pm$ denotes a charged hadron, are measured to be .....

Operation of the ATLAS Transition Radiation Tracker under very high irradiation at the CERN LHC / Åkesson, T ; Arik, E ; Baker, K ; Baron, S ; Benjamin, D ; Bertelsen, H ; Bondarenko, V ; Bychkov, V ; Callahan, J ; Capéans-Garrido, M et al.
The ATLAS Transition Radiation Tracker (TRT) performance depends critically on the choice of the active gas and on its properties. The most important operational aspects, which have led to the final choice of the active gas for the operation of the TRT at the LHC design luminosity, are presented. [...]

Several prototypes of the Transition Radiation Tracker for the ATLAS experiment at the LHC have been built and tested at the CERN SPS accelerator. Results from detailed studies of the straw-tube hit registration efficiency and drift-time measurements and of the pion and electron spectra without and with radiators are presented. [...]

Status of design and construction of the transition radiation tracker (TRT) for the ATLAS experiment at the LHC / Åkesson, T ; Anghinolfi, F ; Arik, E ; Baker, O K ; Baron, S ; Benjamin, D ; Bertelsen, H ; Bondarenko, V ; Bychkov, V ; Callahan, J et al.
The ATLAS Inner Detector consists of three sub-systems, the pixel detector at the innermost radius, the semiconductor tracker at intermediate radii, and the transition radiation tracker (TRT) at the outermost radius in front of the electromagnetic calorimeter. The TRT provides a combination of continuous tracking with many projective measurements based on individual drift-tubes (or straws) and of electron identification based on radiator fibres or foils interleaved between the straws themselves. The transition radiation tracker (TRT) is one of the three subsystems of the inner detector of the ATLAS experiment. It is designed to operate for 10 yr at the LHC, with integrated charges of similar to 10 C/cm of wire and radiation doses of about 10 Mrad and 2 multiplied by 10**1**4 neutrons/cm**2. [...]
