The study of neutron induced reactions on actinides is of great importance both for the design of advanced nuclear systems and for fundamental research. The design of Generation IV reactors, Accelerator Driven Systems (ADS), as well as the study of alternative fuel cycles, such as the thorium fuel cycle, highlight the need for accurate cross-section data. Direct measurement of fission barrier height of unstable heavy nuclei at ISOL facilities / ACTAR TPC Collaboration
Fission barrier height is one of the least known nuclear parameters, with experimental data, acquired decades ago, existing only close to beta-stability line. Availability of heavy radioactive beams offers possibility to investigate fission of more exotic nuclei and using the state of the art detection technique such as the active target we can even probe their fission barriers heights with precision has not been reached so far. [...]

Optimization of the Charge Comparison Method for Multiradiation Field Using Various Measurement Systems / Lynde, C (LIST, Saclay) ; Montbarbon, E (CERN) ; Hamel, M (LIST, Saclay) ; Grabowski, A (LIST, Saclay) ; Frangville, C (LIST, Saclay) ; Bertrand, G H V (LIST, Saclay) ; Galli, G (Chatenay-Malabry, Ecole Centrale) ; Carrel, F (LIST, Saclay) ; Schoepff, V (LIST, Saclay) ; Bitar, Z El (Strasbourg, IPHC)
This article presents a procedure for optimizing the charge comparison method (CCM) used for pulse shape discrimination (PSD). Without prior knowledge of the signals or the readout system, our procedure automatically optimizes the integration periods maximizing the discrimination ability of the radiation detector. [...]

Measurement of the 235 U(n,f) cross section at n_TOF from thermal to 170 keV / Amaducci, Simone ; Amaducci, S ; Aberle, O ; Andrzejewski, J ; Audouin, L ; Bacak, M ; Balibrea, J ; Barbagallo, M ; Bečvář, F ; Berthoumieux, E et al.
The $^{235}$U(n,f) cross section plays a key role for nuclear physics due to its widespread use as a standard reference for neutron cross section measurements and for neutron flux measurements. Recent experimental data of the fission cross section have suggested the presence of discrepancies around 6–8% with respect to the most used libraries, precisely in the range between 10 keV and 30 keV. In the measurement of neutron capture cross-sections of fissile isotopes, the fission channel is a source of background which can be removed efficiently using the so-called $fission-tagging$ or $fission-veto technique$. For this purpose a new compact and fast fission chamber has been developed. [...]
