In high-energy particle accelerators, circulating particle beams with high intensity interact electromagnetically with their surroundings (i.e., metallic vacuum chambers of various geometries). These electromagnetic interactions, which are typically described through the concept of beam-coupling impedance, can represent a serious issue in terms of stability of the particle beam and heating on the accelerator structures. Beam coupling impedance of the main extraction kickers in the CERN PS / Neroni, M (CERN ; U. Rome La Sapienza (main)) ; Barnes, M J (CERN) ; Lasheen, A (CERN) ; Mostacci, A (U. Rome La Sapienza (main)) ; Popovic, B (Argonne) ; Vollinger, C (CERN)
In view of the High Luminosity (HL) upgrade of the LHC, thebeam intensity must be doubled in the injector chain. To performreliable beam dynamics simulations, the beam coupling impedance inthe injectors, such as the Proton Synchrotron (PS), must be followedclosely by including all contributing elements into the impedancemodel. First Thomson scattering results from AWAKE’s helicon plasma source / Stollberg, C (Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne) ; Guittienne, Ph (Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne) ; Karimov, R (Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne) ; Sublet, A (CERN) ; Furno, I (Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne) ; Vincent, B (Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne) ; Andrebe, Y (Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne) ; Buttenschön, B (Greifswald, Max Planck Inst.)
We present the first results of electron density and temperature measurements obtained from Thomson scattering at the helicon plasma source (HPS) for the AWAKE project. These measurements are compared to simulation results from a 1D power and particle balance model (PPM), confirming that the plasma can be fully sustained by collisional power dissipation. [...]

High voltage consolidation of the temperature measurement channels of the LHC superconducting current leads / Trikoupis, N (CERN) ; Casas-Cubillos, J (CERN) ; Bustamante, E (CERN)
Recurrent dielectric breakdowns on the cryogenics instrumentation during the CERN LHC Electrical Quality Assurance (ELQA) campaigns led to an investigation of their root causes. During the CERN Long Shutdown 2 (LS2), several weaknesses were identified like floating wires or cable screens, cabling non-conformities, connector assembly issues, and weakness of the electronic conditioning cards. Enhancement of System Observability During System-Level Radiation Testing Through Total Current Consumption Monitoring / Slipukhin, Ivan (CERN) ; Coronetti, Andrea (CERN) ; Alía, Rubén García (CERN) ; Saigné, Frédéric (IES, Montpellier) ; Boch, Jérôme (IES, Montpellier) ; Dilillo, Luigi (IES, Montpellier) ; Aguiar, Ygor Q (CERN) ; Cazzaniga, Carlo ; Kastriotou, Maria ; Dodd, Torran
System-level testing of electronics is an affordable method of assessment of the performance of complete electronic systems designed for applications in the radiation environment. Compared to component-level testing, system-level test offers a much smaller degree of observability about the performance of particular system elements. [...]

Assessment of the Quirónsalud Proton Therapy Centre Accelerator for Single Event Effects Testing / Coronetti, Andrea (CERN) ; Emriskova, Natalia (CERN) ; Alía, Rubén García (CERN) ; Sanchez, Juan Antonio Vera ; Mazal, Alejandro
High-energy proton testing is used for single-event effect (SEE) qualification of electronics employed in several radiation-harsh environments. Given the increasing demand, exploiting the capabilities of proton therapy centers for electronics testing may become desirable. [...]

Quantification of Neutron-Induced Single-Event Upsets in a Static Random-Access Memory by Clinical High-Energy Photon Beam / Gabrisch, Lukas (Oldenburg U.) ; Cecchetto, Matteo (CERN) ; Delfs, Björn (Oldenburg U.) ; Looe, Hui Khee (Oldenburg U.) ; Budroweit, Jan (DLR, Bremen) ; Alía, Rubén García (CERN) ; Poppe, Björn (Oldenburg U.) ; Wyrwoll, Vanessa (Oldenburg U.)
The possibility of using calibrated static random-access memory (SRAM) memory for the quantification of neutron fluence in a radiotherapy facility for cancer treatment utilizing a high-energy 15-MV photon beam (Bremsstrahlung) from an electron linear accelerator has been exploited in this work. This has been performed by varying the field size of the photon beam and the positioning of the SRAM memory at three different positions in relation to the isocenter of the beam. [...]

A rapid method for prediction of the non-resonant ultra-fast multipactor regime in high gradient RF accelerating structures / González-Iglesias, Daniel (Valencia U., IFIC) ; Gimeno, Benito (Valencia U., IFIC) ; Esperante, Daniel (Valencia U., IFIC) ; Martinez-Reviriego, Pablo (Valencia U., IFIC) ; Martín-Luna, Pablo (Valencia U., IFIC) ; Pedraza, Laura Karina (Valencia U., IFIC) ; Fernández, Juan Carlos (Valencia U., IFIC) ; Fuster-Martínez, Nuria (Valencia U., IFIC) ; Martínez, Eduardo (Valencia U., IFIC) ; Boronat, Marçà (Valencia U., IFIC) et al.
The purpose of this work is to present an analytical method that allows to estimate in an approximate and fast way the presence of the non-resonant and ultra-fast multipactor effect in RF accelerating structures in the presence of high gradient electromagnetic fields. This single-surface multipactor regime, which has been little studied in the scientific literature, is characterised by appearing only under conditions of very strong RF electric fields (of the order of tens or hundreds of MV/m), where it is predominant over other types of single- or dual-surface resonance described in classical multipactor theory. Radiation test of commercial of the shelf (COTS) optical transceivers in the frame of the beam position monitor (BPM) consolidation project for the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) / Marin, M Barros (CERN) ; Boccardi, A (CERN) ; Ozdogan, S Can (CERN) ; Danzeca, S (CERN) ; Ferraro, R (CERN) ; Scialdone, A (CERN)
The consolidation of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) beam position monitor (BPM) requires the deployment of about 5000 single-mode radiation-tolerant optical transmitters, working at 10 Gbps during 20 years of operation. While the use of the custom devices being designed at CERN remains the baseline for the project, 8 commercial of the shelf (COTS) optical transceivers have been evaluated as an alternative. [...]
