RD50-MPW: a series of monolithic High Voltage CMOS pixel chips with high granularity and towards high radiation tolerance / CERN-RD50 Collaboration
A series of monolithic High Voltage CMOS (HV-CMOS) pixel sensor prototypes have been developed by the CERN-RD50 CMOS working group for potential use in future high luminosity experiments. The aim is to further improve the performance of HV-CMOS sensors, especially in terms of pixel granularity, timing resolution and radiation tolerance. [...]

The Orbit Measurement System for the CERN Extra Low Energy Antiproton Ring / Marqversen, Ole (CERN) ; Angoletta, Maria Elena (CERN) ; Jaussi, Michael (CERN) ; Marco-Hernandez, Ricardo (Valencia U., IFIC) ; Molendijk, John (CERN) ; Ruffieux, Romain (CERN) ; Sanchez-Quesada, Jorge (CERN) ; Søby, Lars (CERN)
The CERN Extra Low ENergy Antiproton ring (ELENA) intended to decelerate anti-protons from the CERN Antiproton Decelerator from 100Mev/c to 13.7MeV/c, has been equipped with an orbit measurement system consisting of 10 horizontal and 10 vertical electrostatic pick-ups. Using charge amplifiers the signals are converted into sum and difference signals that, once digitalized, are down converted to baseband and used to calculate intensity independent beam positions. [...]

A portable readout system for microstrip silicon sensors (ALIBAVA) / Marco-Hernández, Ricardo (Valencia U., IFIC) /ALIBAVA
A readout system for microstrip silicon sensors has been developed as a result of a collaboration among the University of Liverpool, the CNM (Centro Nacional de Microelectrónica) of Barcelona and the IFIC (Instituto de Física Corpuscular) of Valencia. The name of this collaboration is ALIBAVA and it is integrated in the RD50 Collaboration. [...]

Prototyping of petalets for the Phase-II Upgrade of the silicon strip tracking detector of the ATLAS Experiment / Kuehn, S. (CERN) ; Benítez, V. (Barcelona, Inst. In the high luminosity era of the Large Hadron Collider, the HL-LHC, the instantaneous luminosity is expected to reach unprecedented values, resulting in about 200 proton-proton interactions in a typical bunch crossing. To cope with the resultant increase in occupancy, bandwidth and radiation damage, the ATLAS Inner Detector will be replaced by an all-silicon system, the Inner Tracker (ITk). [...]

The AD and ELENA orbit, trajectory and intensity measurement systems / Marco-Hernández, Ricardo (CERN ; Valencia U., IFIC) ; Alves, D (CERN) ; Angoletta, M E (CERN) ; Marqversen, O (CERN) ; Molendijk, J (CERN) ; Oponowicz, E (CERN ; Manchester U.) ; Ruffieux, R (CERN) ; Sánchez-Quesada, J (CERN) ; Søby, L (CERN)
This paper describes the new Antiproton Decelerator (AD) orbit measurement system and the Extra Low ENergy Antiproton ring (ELENA) orbit, trajectory and intensity measurement system. The AD machine at European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) is presently being used to decelerate antiprotons from 3.57 GeV/c to 100 MeV/c for matter vs anti-matter comparative studies. [...]

Sensors for the End-cap prototype of the Inner Tracker in the ATLAS Detector Upgrade / Benítez, V (Barcelona, Inst. Microelectron.) ; Ullán, M (Barcelona, Inst. The new silicon microstrip sensors of the End-cap part of the HL-LHC ATLAS Inner Tracker (ITk) present a number of challenges due to their complex design features such as the multiple different sensor shapes, the varying strip pitch, or the built-in stereo angle. In order to investigate these specific problems, the “petalet” prototype was defined as a small End-cap prototype. [...]

Prototyping of hybrids and modules for the forward silicon strip tracking detector for the ATLAS Phase-II upgrade / Kuehn, S (CERN) ; Benítez, V (Barcelona, Inst. Microelectron.) ; Fernández-Tejero, J (Barcelona, Inst. Microelectron.) ; Fleta, C (Barcelona, Inst. Microelectron.) ; Lozano, M (Barcelona, Inst. Microelectron.) ; Ullán, M (Barcelona, Inst. Microelectron.) ; Lacker, H (Humboldt U., Berlin) ; Rehnisch, L (Humboldt U., Berlin) ; Sperlich, D (Humboldt U., Berlin) ; Ariza, D (DESY) et al.
For the High-Luminosity upgrade of the Large Hadron Collider an increased instantaneous luminosity of up to 7.5 ⋅ $10^{34} cm^{−2} s^{−1}$, leading to a total integrated luminosity of up to 3000 $fb^{−1}$, is foreseen. The current silicon and transition radiation tracking detectors of the ATLAS experiment will be unable to cope with the increased track densities and radiation levels, and will need to be replaced.
