A tiny telescope of Si-detectors for high energy muon flux measurement with electron rejection / Heijne, Erik H M ; Jarron, P ; Lazeyras, Pierre ; Nelson, W R ; Stevenson, G R
With very small (1 mm/sup 2/) silicon detectors and a 30 MHz amplifier chain one can measure flux profiles of high energy muons inside a shield up to a density of 5*10/sup 8/ cm/sup -2/ s/sup -1/. A telescope structure with several detectors and lead absorber plates enables elimination of both the low and high energy electrons which accompany the muons. [...]

An optimised system of proportional counters consisting of 128 layers (32 channels each, 190*60 cm/sup 2/ detection area) is being developed to work in connection with the Big European Bubble Chamber at SPS energies. It will be capable of identification of simultaneous particles up to 70 GeV/c by ionization measurements in the region of the relativistic rise. [...]

The high energy beam and the RF-separator for BEBC at the CERN-300 GeV / Atherton, Henry W ; Bernard, P ; Grant, A ; Lazeyras, Pierre
A RF separated beam for BEBC using a target located in the epb tunnel at the maximum distance from BEBC is described. As it has been shown that BEBC is a useful detector for strong interaction physics up to the 100 GeV/c region of incident momenta, it is intended that the beam will separate masses the highest possible momenta (73 GeV/c K- pi ), that are a reasonably clear extension of present techniques.
