Axion quality problem and nonminimal gravitational coupling in the Palatini formulation / Cheong, Dhong Yeon (IPAP, Seoul ; Yonsei U.) ; Hamaguchi, Koichi (Tokyo U. ; Tokyo U., IPMU) ; Kanazawa, Yoshiki (Tokyo U.) ; Lee, Sung Mook (IPAP, Seoul ; Yonsei U. ; CERN) ; Nagata, Natsumi (Tokyo U.) ; Park, Seong Chan (IPAP, Seoul ; Yonsei U. ; Korea Inst. Advanced Study, Seoul)
In axion models, the global U(1) Peccei-Quinn (PQ) symmetry is explicitly broken by non-perturbative effects of gravity, such as axionic wormholes. The gravitational violation of the PQ symmetry due to wormholes is large enough to invalidate the PQ mechanism, which is entitled as the axion quality problem. [...]

Seesaw Neutrinos from the Heterotic String / Buchmuller, Wilfried (DESY) ; Hamaguchi, Koichi (Tokyo U.) ; Lebedev, Oleg (CERN) ; Ramos-Sanchez, Saul (Bonn U.) ; Ratz, Michael (Munich, Tech. U.)
We study the possibility of realizing the neutrino seesaw mechanism in the E8XE8 heterotic string. In particular, we consider its Z_6 orbifold compactifications leading to the supersymmetric standard model gauge group and matter content. [...]

Prospects to study a long-lived charged next lightest supersymmetric particle at the LHC / Hamaguchi, K (Univ. Tokyo, Tokyo, Japan) ; Nojiri, M M (IPNS, KEK, Oho, Japan) ; de Roeck, A (CERN ; Univ. Instelling Antwerpen, Wilrijk, Belgium)
If the scalar tau $\stau$ is the next lightest supersymmetric particle and decays into a gravitino ($\gravitino$) being the lightest supersymmetric particle, it will have generally a very long lifetime. In this paper, we investigate the possibility to study the decay of such a long lived scalar tau at the LHC. [...]
