Neutron-induced fission cross section of Np237 in the keV to MeV range at the CERN n_TOF facility
/ Diakaki, M ; Karadimos, D ; Vlastou, R ; Kokkoris, M ; Demetriou, P ; Skordis, E ; Tsinganis, A ; Abbondanno, U ; Aerts, G ; Álvarez, H et al.
The neutron-induced fission cross section of Np237 was experimentally determined at the high-resolution and high-intensity facility n_TOF, at CERN, in the energy range 100 keV to 9 MeV, using the U235(n,f) and U238(n,f) cross section standards below and above 2 MeV, respectively. A fast ionization chamber was used in order to detect the fission fragments from the reactions and the targets were characterized as far as their mass and homogeneity are concerned by means of α spectroscopy and Rutherford backscattering spectroscopy respectively. Neutron-induced fission cross section of U234 measured at the CERN n_TOF facility
/ Karadimos, D ; Vlastou, R ; Ioannidis, K ; Demetriou, P ; Diakaki, M ; Vlachoudis, V (CERN) ; Pavlopoulos, P ; Konovalov, V ; Abbondanno, U ; Aerts, G et al.
The neutron-induced fission cross section of U234 has been measured at the CERN n_TOF facility relative to the standard fission cross section of U235 from 20 keV to 1.4 MeV and of U238 from 1.4 to 200 MeV. A fast ionization chamber (FIC) was used as a fission fragment detector with a detection efficiency of no less than 97%. [...]

/ Arneodo, F (INFN, Aquila ; L'Aquila U.) ; Benetti, P (INFN, Pavia ; Pavia U.) ; Bettini, A (INFN, Padua ; Padua U.) ; Borio, A (INFN, Pavia ; Pavia U.) ; Calligarich, E (INFN, Pavia ; Pavia U.) ; Carpanese, C (INFN, Padua ; Padua U.) ; Casagrande, F (Frascati) ; Cavalli, D (INFN, Milan ; Milan U.) ; Cavanna, F (INFN, Aquila ; L'Aquila U.) ; Cennini, P (CERN) et al.
The ICARUS project aims at the realisation of a large liquid argon TPC to be run at the Underground Laboratories of Gran Sasso in Italy. An intense R&D; activity has put on firm grounds this new detector technology and experimentally confirmed its feasibility on a few ton scale. [...]

Experimental observation of an extremely high electron lifetime with the ICARUS-T600 LAr-TPC
/ Antonello, M ; Baibussinov, B ; Benetti, P ; Boffelli, F ; Bubak, A ; Calligarich, E ; Centro, S ; Cesana, A ; Cieslik, K ; Cline, D B et al.
The ICARUS T600 detector, the largest liquid Argon Time Projection Chamber (LAr-TPC) realized after many years of RD activities, was installed and successfully operated for 3 years at the INFN Gran Sasso underground Laboratory. One of the most important issues was the need of an extremely low residual electronegative impurity content in the liquid Argon, in order to transport the free electrons created by the ionizing particles with a very small attenuation along the drift path. The trigger system of the ICARUS experiment for the CNGS beam
/ ICARUS Collaboration
The ICARUS T600 detector, with its 470 tons of active mass, is the largest liquid Argon TPC ever built. Operated for three years in the LNGS underground laboratory, it has collected thousands of CNGS neutrino beam interactions and cosmic ray events with energy spanning from tens of MeV to tens of GeV, with a trigger system based on scintillation light, charge signal on TPC wires and time information (for beam related events only). [...]
