Description

As the LHC is upgraded to the High-Luminosity LHC, the instantaneous luminosity will increase significantly. To cope with the additional event pile-up, the High-Granularity Timing Detector (HGTD) is installed as part of the phase-II upgrade for the ATLAS detector. The additional timing information for tracks (35-50 ps) in the forward region ($2.5<|\eta|<4.0$) in combination with the Inner Tracker (ITk) will allow for better pile-up rejection and reconstruction of tracks to the correct vertices. This report focuses on Quality-Control (QC) and the testing of preproduction sensors as well as test structures for the HGTD in the context of a summer student project.
