Spain’s Dirección General de Ordenación del Juego (DGOJ) has barred its sports betting licensees from taking wagers on matches involving underage athletes.

Spain’s Dirección General de Ordenación del Juego (DGOJ) announced that its sports betting licensees “will not be able to include in their program of events those that are played exclusively or predominantly by minors.” The regulatory body said the new directive is aimed at protecting the best interests of minors, as the DGOJ wants to “avoid the trivialization” of the potential risks of gambling. Also, this move would protect the kids from the “the economic interests of third parties.”
