Abstract: In this paper, we made a comprehensive simulative study on the performance assessment o... more Abstract: In this paper, we made a comprehensive simulative study on the performance assessment of a Subcarrier intensity-modulated Free Space Optical (FSO) Communication system. The proposed system under investigation consider a communication link between a base station and a mobile unit using light wave transmission through free space in consideration with Atmospheric turbulence effect. The FSO system implements various types of channel coding schemes such as LDPC, Turbo, Cyclic, BCH and Reed-Solomon. From MATLAB based simulated study on synthetic data transmission, it is found a quite noticeable impact on implementing different types of channel coding schemes on performance enhancement of the presently considered FSO system. The system is also capable of showing its robustness in retrieving transmitted data in spite of atmospheric turbulence effect under QAM digital modulation and BCH channel coding scheme.

The 16×256 large MIMO antenna configured simulated system under investigation incorporates three modern channel coding (Turbo, LDPC and (3, 2) SPC, higher order digital modulation (256-QAM)) and various signal detection (Q-Less QR, Lattice Reduction(LR) based Zero-forcing(ZF), Lattice Reduction (LR) based ZF-SIC and Complex-valued LLL(CLLL) algorithm implemented ZF-SIC) schemes. An audio to image conversion aided chaos-based physical layer security scheme has also been implemented in such study. On considering transmission of encrypted audio signal in a hostile fading channel, it is noticeable from MATLAB based simulation study that the LDPC Channel encoded system is very much robust and effective in retrieving color image under utilization of Lattice Reduction(LR) based ZF-SIC signal detection and 16QAM digital modulation techniques.

The system implements a modified form of Chaos-based image encryption scheme under utilization of three channel equalization techniques (MMSE, ZF and Q-Less QR Decomposition) and three digital modulation schemes (QPSK, DQPSK and QAM).In comparative study, it is noticeable from simulation results that the ½-rated convolutionally encoded system combined with both transmit and receive diversity in Rayleigh multipath fading channel outperforms in QAM and ZF schemes.

With adaptation of ZF pre-coding at the transmitter side under the utilization of 4-QAM digital modulation, data transmission is made through 4 ×6 multi antenna supported MIMO GPQSM system. The system incorporates Minimum mean square error (MMSE), Zero-Forcing (ZF), Zero-Forcing-Successive interference cancellation (ZF-SIC) and optimal Maximum-Likelihood (ML) signal detection schemes. Various LDPC iterative channel decoding algorithms such as Log Domain Sum-Product, Simplified Log-Domain Sum Product and Probability-Domain Sum Product have been used. It is observable from MATLAB based simulations that the LDPC encoded GPQSM system shows quite satisfactory performance under scenario of MMSE signal detection scheme.

The simulated system under present study implements Space time block coding(STBC) and MIMO Beamforming schemes with three channel encoding schemes(1/2-rated Convolutional and CRC and BCH) and four digital modulations( BPSK,DPSK QPSK and QAM). In this system, transmission of text data has been secured with concatenated implementation of Vigenere Cipher and RSA cryptographic algorithm. It is anticipated from the numerical results that the STBC and MIMO Beamforming scheme adopted MCCDMA system with 1/2-rated Convolutional channel encoding technique outperforms in BPSK digital modulation under AWGN and Raleigh fading channels.
