Tried it’s very best to be an army-builder…
I picked this set up as the first of many in a series of a Minecraft-fueled set-building flurry.
This set is possibly the best cheap Minecraft set of the first half of 2025, and, just by looking at the figures, it's not hard to see why.
1) Angry Alex
Probably the weakest figure in the set, but a good exclusive figure. However, this Alex and the one in the Armory stand out as something like reskins of the classic character.
2) The Blaze
It's crazy that this is the first of this iconic mob in 6 years, and only the 3rd rendition ever, but this model is still going strong. The upper blaze rods (represented here exquisitely by yellow nozzles) are attached using pieces I believe first used for the crossguard of the buildable Kylo Ren's lightsaber. This piece causes some unsightly gaps from certain angles, but they are hardly visible most of the time.
3) The Wither Skeleton
The Wither Skeleton included in this set is an exemplary figure, perfect in almost every single way. I find it amusing that Lego Minecraft these days hardly includes player minifigures with starting stone or wood tools, so this is a good opportunity to get your hands on a stone sword (better get it now, it might be a while 'til we get another).
The skeleton itself is a good figure, but would have been maybe better replaced by a Piglin, as Wither Skeletons and Blazes are rarely found away from the Nether Fortress, and it can be awkward posing both on the bridge.Play Features
The only play feature in this set is a falling lava trap, activated by "mining" the block of Ancient Debris included in the base. Once that piece is removed, a bit of brick built lava will swing down, hitting the minifigure. This is a good play feature at this scale, but the falling lava does not always fall, so be warned.
Playset, Display, or Army-Build?
This set, for $10 USD, is a great playset, with enemies and traps for the player to dodge. As a display set, it fares far worse, with a Fortress bridge too slim to be accurate, and hardly space to put the Skeleton and Blaze. However, this set looks far better if you combine duplicates, or pair it with the Nether Portal Ambush set. As an army builder, this set it far lacking by sole measure of the one player minifigure, and, as the blazes are pretty darn hard to get onto a grey baseplate (Star Wars fan, sue me), this set is not the best.

the best a battle pack can be
Building experience:
This is a set with 99 parts, for which a third or more of the parts go into the figures. For those looking for a richer building experience, this is not for them, but I cannot count that as a fault, seeing as that is not the goal of the set.
Parts:
Despite there being very few of them, there are many dark red parts which are relatively more difficult to come by. That, paired with the printed parts, makes the part selection quite fun, though nothing out of the ordinary.
Playability:
A set this small doesn't really need a play feature to justify its value, so the lava drop feature is very surprising and more than welcome. Its simple, effective and I am certain it will make children want to play with the structure itself more.
value:
4 figures and a build with a feature, all for 10 dollars. This is what pitch-perfect value looks like. When hearing people talk about how much more expensive Lego is today, sets like these should come as a good reminder that that statement only applies when looking at Lego from a very narrow window. This set's value is incredibly perfect, and i couldn't ask for anything else.
