Lego Ideas have done it again.

Written by (AFOL , bronze-rated reviewer) in United Kingdom,

This is my third Ideas set and I have yet to be let down (I like BTTF too much ).

    Box/Instructions

Once again well presented and makes you feel like your purchasing something a bit more special than your average set. hefty manual with story and the work in this one is a joy to behold. There is a back story and everything.

    Parts

I read one review that said something about how on opening the box they thought it looked like a load of spares and I agree it does look like the leftovers after building the death star. Though you dont judge a book by its cover I did think hows this going to come together. That said good selection of parts. I would love to see someones alternate build.

    Minifigures

classic space in green, nice. Some seem disappointed with the newer style helmet but i think the old style wouldnt suit.

    The build

Bought this on Saturday and saved it till Sunday morning to build. Big mistake ive got one kid on one side of the table building Mixels and the other asking me to build the Heartlake school. So next time i will wait till after bedtime. The way it comes together is good and I dont think two legs or arms are repetitive. The detail is fantastic.

    The completed model

Lego Mech suit=Awesome. looks awesome from any angle. Ive seen loads of reviews and read blocks mag and compared it to the original design and I think its superb.

    Overall opinion

Just had a battle with some Mixels and two kids playing with the suit and it did ok. The shoulder greebling is a bit loose but some say lightsaber rods can be used to strengthen them.If you are only displaying this then it will be fine. If you like lego space you need this set. The robot turtle is pretty awesome aswell.

    Awesome set

Written by (AFOL , bronze-rated reviewer) in United Kingdom,

I am an AFOL and got this for christmas(after dropping plenty of hints to the missus).

    Box/Instructions

You definitely feel like you are getting a premium kit with the cuusoo/ideas sets and this one is especially nice because it is Ghostbusters. The book is first class too. Ghostbuster signs and number plates.

    Parts

Printed Ghostbuster signs and number plates. No stickers(always nice).

    Minifigures

    Awesome Awesome Awesome Awesome.

    The build

You either complain about no numbered bags or you just get on with it. personally i don't like numbered bags. I like to tip it all out and go for it.old school. A pleasure to build and see ecto-1 come together. I have given this set 5/5 and the only complaint i could muster is the definition of colours of the 1x1 slopes and 1x1 round pieces in the instructions it isn't clear the difference between shiny silver or clear but by the end of the build there aren't any left over that would make you think you have gone wrong but this isn't even a real complaint. This set is perfect.

    The completed model

ABSOLUTELY smashed it!!!!! After the disappointment of the back to the future Delorean ECTO-1 is superb. From a distance or close up it just looks the part.

    Overall opinion

First class. Probably best as a shelf display piece but still playable. Thank you Lego Ideas.

    The Death Star Experience

Written by (AFOL , bronze-rated reviewer) in United Kingdom,

Im an AFOL mainly into star wars and classic castle.

    Box/Instructions

The manual is immense, when you first open the box it is just massive. never seen anything like it.

    Parts

Good selection of parts, nice to build with solid bricks.

    Minifigures

    awesome.

    The build

This is what i actually want to review 'The build'. I purchased this sept 2014 and had read reviews about the bags might not be numbered, but mine where so "phew" look at all those pieces. 3803 on the box. Took a week to build what with life and work getting in the way but what a pleasure to see the death star come together. The floor panels are the only aspect you could say is repetitive but each corner is slightly varied. The trash compactor was probably the best to build on the first level but it is just an entree to the main event which is the detention level. The sticker to give the impression of the corridor is superb and the detail in each section is a thing of lego genius. previously my favourite build was 7965 the falcon but this is by far a better experience. once completed i wanted to start again and maybe try and do it on a clear weekend, probably start friday evening and have it done by sunday.

    The completed model

excellent. amazing level of movie authenticity.

    Overall opinion

    best set by a mile.

    6080 castle perfection

Written by (AFOL , bronze-rated reviewer) in United Kingdom,

finally after many years and never having this set as a child I have bought an excellent boxed set from a collector. All I can say is that this is everything a lego set should be,a superb main model, scope for your own ideas, enough lego men for play and good use of standard bricks (not like some modern sets where it seems like you make the main model and struggle to make much else). The build is enjoyable because you have to study the instructions in each phase not like newer ones where they tell you what pieces you need. The finished castle is superb ,big ,grey and imposing like a castle should be. Twelve men four horses and plenty of weapons. I must also mention that mixed in with this set was the 6041 armour shop and 6012 seige crossbow, wich was a nice surprise, then i was looking at ebay and found another set with the same two extras, maybe an offer was on at the time these sets where in the shops. All in all a first class set.

    Awesome,awesome and awesome

Written by (AFOL , bronze-rated reviewer) in United Kingdom,

Awesome lego set. Having read loads of reviews and watched videos on YouTube etc decided to try and get hold of 7965. Sometimes on eBay you get lucky and I like telling people I did with this set. £80 bargain collected it this morning. On opening the box you are presented with a full box(unlike a lego enzo I got once box being the same size and all) of lego and instructions and sticker sheet protected by a bag with card insert, some reviews claimed the instructions were loose and sticker sheets bent and creased but not mine.thanks lego.

I like to open all the bags and just go for it and it took me 5/6 hours with a lunch break and an excited 5 year old asking a thousand questions through out. The build was a delight, seeing the falcon come to life from the base up is why Star Wars lego is my favourite. None of it is repetitive enough to be boring from the solid technic base to the flaps that create the roof.

Certain reviews go on about the UCS model and scale and gaps and this isn't and that isn't and blah blah blah,it is the perfect mix of Star Wars and lego just like some of the early sets.

The finished ship is a fantastic achievement, very sturdy and swooshable. Open up the flaps and it turns into a fantastic play set, currently being enjoyed by my 5 year old(I don't remember a scene with a storm trooper and the emporer playing chess but hey ho he is having fun.

The mini fig selection is good (6 in total),Luke is good with the blast shield on his head. Vader and chewie have been done plenty. This is my first Han and leia, and obi wan has an old face and hood. I would suggest getting the new droid escape just for the new c3po and r2 because they really compliment this set better than vader but that is just a slight grumble.....all in all a fantastic set and I am looking forward to dismantling it so i can build it again.
