Review: 42608 Tiny Accessories Store
Posted by MeganL,The smallest set in the Friends first half this year is 42608 Tiny Accessories Store. Typically these smaller Friends sets have shown to be quite a good value with plenty of play opportunities, so I'm expecting the same in this case.
Summary
42608 Tiny Accessories Store, 129 pieces.
£8.99 / $10.99 / €9.99 | 7.0p/8.5c/7.7c per piece.

- Reflective stickers
- Compact footprint
- None
The set was provided for review by LEGO. All opinions expressed are those of the author.
Inside the box there are two unnumbered bags, an instruction book, and a reflective sticker sheet.
The minidolls in this set are Candi (new to this set) and Paisley. Candi may be the proprietor of the store - if so, she's quite appropriately dressed with a shimmery fuchsia tank with mesh overlay, with a heart necklace (dare I say, accessory?). Paisley is wearing a sleeveless blue shirt with a silverleaf designer on top of her jeans. It looks like she's been doing some shopping at the store, as she's also wearing a purple crossbody bag.
The store is small, and has a hinging mechanism to allow it to close completely. I really like this function as it allows the set to be quite portable. Place the minidolls inside and you're good to go. The very fun stickers plated on the outside make it clear that the primary ware sold in the store are crossbody bags.
Upon opening the store, one side shows the check out counter. Like many other stores in Heartlake City, all transactions are conducted electronically.
The other side has - of course - a mirror! I like that this has been included for this set, and wonder why we don't see these reflective stickers in more models, especially since bathrooms are so common in Friends sets.
With the store fully open (pun intended), we see that more than crossbody bags are for sale - miscellaneous cosmetics and hair adornments can be found in the cabinets. A visitor to the shop shows that that the reflective sticker is doing its job.
(Note: visiting sloth not included in this set)
The hinges on the store ensure that both wings can extend all the way back, allow for greater access to the centre part of the store.
Overall thoughts
This is a very fun little set. It's perfect for an impulse buy (129 pieces, £8.99/$10.99/€9.99). I really like how the store closes up and makes the set so much more portable. I just wish there was a way to click the store closed, so it would travel a bit better.
It's also a treat to see two minidolls in such a small set. Historically, Friends sets have been very underpopulated, and it's nice to see that change a bit in this year's sets.

Cute set, but at first look I thought this was a hamburger joint.
The reflective sticker is surprisingly, erm, reflective!
I like this set. It's cosy and inoffensive - and I very much enjoy the fact that Candi managed to escape the terrible fate her parents had in store for her when they named her. Well done you, Candi.
This has to be the most meta idea for a LEGO set I've ever seen.
But hey, if we get something like this for Star Wars clone troopers, I won't be complaining.
I had thought those were bumbags when I saw them first, not crossbody bags. From the picture of one on Paisley, I presume they are too big to work as a bumbag on a minidoll, and too round to work on a minifig.
It's a bit barren, even more so if one doesn't use the stickers. This should be overflowing with accessories like a real accessories/ trinkets kiosk.
This is a super-affordable way to get Friends-friendly color curved slopes, glass panels, decent sticker decorations, panels and tall bricks to expand other builds. At $11, on top of that getting two mini-dolls is excellent.
Great value!

this is most likely just her day job.
Mostly I like the Chomskian name of this set: is it an accessories store that is tiny, or a store that sells tiny accessories?
This is a fun little set—we've had little kiosks like this in Friends before but the way this one closes up is very satisfying.
