Daffodil Cake

Step 1

In a medium bowl sift together the flour, cornstarch and ¾ cup of sugar three times.

Step 2

Beat egg whites, vanilla extract, cream of tartar and salt. Add ½ cup of sugar and continue beating until medium peaks. Fold in flour mix.

Step 3

Beat yolks, orange zest and juice and remaining sugar until the mixture is light in color and thickened. Fold in ⅓ of the white mixture.

Step 4

In an ungreased tube pan, drop spoonfuls of yellow and white batter to give it a marble effect. Bake at 350°F.

Cool the cake upside down in the pan.

Combine glaze in a small bowl and whisk until smooth. Drizzle glaze over the cake and let it set.
