About Scotty Gilbertson

I've always been a car nut. I drove my parents crazy by calling out cars from the backseat of our '56 Pontiac as a kid, and I never grew out of that. I still do that when I'm in the car by myself now, which I am for 40,000 miles a year as a former architect and now architectural photographer. I love a good road trip and I'm usually on one about 150-200 days a year. I've gravitated toward unusual vehicles in the last decade or so. I love everything related to all vehicles old, new, big, and small, cars, trucks, motorcycles, snowmobiles, motorhomes, and boats powered by gas, diesel, hybrid, EV, pedal, etc. Any vehicle that's small and unusual catches my eye, like the CitiCar or Elcar Zagato, but I've recently switched from cars to motorcycles for the most part. I'm of the school of thought that any real car guy or gal can appreciate any vehicle, even if they personally have no interest in it at all.

42K-Mile Survivor: 1980 Dodge D-50 Pickup

We’ve seen a few of these little rebadged Mitsubishi pickups before here on Barn Finds. I’m partial to these little gems that were sold under the Dodge and Plymouth name in the late 1970s and early 1980s. This 1980… more»

Red Rocket: 1993 Ford F-150 SVT Lightning

It would be hard to miss this 1993 Ford F-150 SVT Lightning in a parking lot. For one thing, and I know they still make red vehicles every once in a while, but this thing is red. A very… more»

1 of 90? 1990 Avanti Touring Sedan

A person would be hard-pressed to find a more unique-looking vehicle than this 1990 Avanti Touring four-door sedan for the money. I’m not putting this design in the same category as the Aston Martin Lagonda, but it almost seemed… more»

Rust-Free Survivor: 1986 Chevrolet El Camino

Four-Door Survivor: 1965 Dodge D200 Crew Cab

Can a vehicle be a survivor if it’s been repainted? If not, maybe the title should be Four-Door Project rather than “Survivor” as this one has clearly been painted, right over dents and rust and everything else. I always… more»

1985 Dodge Ram D350 Royal SE Prospector

Nicest One Left? 1991 Dodge Shadow Convertible

Believe it or not, this is the first 1991 Dodge Shadow shown on Barn Finds. Maybe that’s because it’s newer than what we normally show here, although, it’s 33 years old now. Or, maybe it’s because it’s a 1991… more»

Never Seen Snow? 1973 Jeep Commando 4×4

I’m a bit confused at the seller’s line about this 1973 Jeep Commando never having seen snow, since it literally has a snow plow on the front of it. A snow plow that isn’t shown in any of the… more»
