Senate Judiciary Committee hearing
The Senate Judiciary Committee held hearings on Lin's nomination on November 30, 2022. Lin's nomination was returned to the president at the sine die adjournment of the U.S. Senate on January 3, 2023.[8]

Nomination
On July 29, 2022, President Joe Biden (D) announced his intent to nominate Lin to the United States District Court for the Northern District of California. The president officially nominated Lin on August 1, 2022.[1][2]
Lin's nomination was returned to the president at the sine die adjournment of the U.S. Senate on January 3, 2023.[9] The president renominated Lin on January 23, 2023.[4]
Lin was nominated to replace Judge Edward Chen, who assumed senior status on May 17, 2022.[2]
