Stephen Gorsalitz

Stephen D. Gorsalitz is a judge for the 9th Circuit Court in Kalamazoo County, Michigan. He was first elected to the 9th Circuit Court on November 3, 1998, (effective the following January 1st) and was re-elected in 2004, 2010, and 2016.[1]
Gorsalitz served a term as chief judge from 2008 to 2012. He also presides over the Family Dependency Treatment Court.[2]
Biography
Gorsalitz received his law degree from the Thomas M. Cooley Law School in 1976.[3] He joined the circuit court bench in 1998. From 2002 to 2008, he served as the presiding judge of the family division and the chief judge pro tempore of the 9th Circuit; he then served as chief judge over Kalamazoo County's circuit and probate courts from 2008 to 2012.[2]

Michigan held general elections for local judicial offices on November 8, 2016. A primary election occurred on August 2, 2016. The candidate filing deadline for incumbents was March 21, and the deadline for non-incumbents was April 19.[4] Incumbent Stephen Gorsalitz and incumbent Alexander Lipsey were unopposed in the 9th Circuit general election (2 open seats).[1]

Gorsalitz was re-elected to the circuit court (along with Judge Alexander Lipsey) in the general election on November 2, 2010 with 46.02 percent of the vote.[5]
