Campaign themes

2017

Brown's campaign website highlighted the following issues:

Economic Opportunity
Expanding economic opportunities for every Greensboro family by bringing new jobs into the city –high paying jobs. Our airport, with its existing high tech base and available capacity, provides an opportunity for an immediate impact

Reducing Crime
Change city policy from politicization to partnership of the Police Department. Let the police do their jobs. At the same time, ensure all communities are treated with respect and compassion.

Existing Businesses
The second leg of John’s economic opportunity plan is to stop the exodus of high wage jobs. We will reach out to their leaders on a regular basis to form relationships and ensure Greensboro remains the best home for their business.

Taxes
Fighting to hold and then reduce the high rate of taxation that puts Greensboro in a competitive disadvantage to neighboring cities. The city's budget is bloated and full of waste. I want an across the board budget cut by 1% -except for public safety (it's fair and it's doable)[4]
