Dale Erdey
Dale M. Erdey (b. December 6, 1954) is a former Republican member of the Louisiana State Senate, representing District 13 from 2008 to 2020. He was not able to run for re-election in 2019 due to term limits.
Erdey served as Mayor of Livingston, LA from 1993 to 1997 and in the Louisiana House of Representatives from 1999 to 2007.
Biography
Erdey earned his B.S. in business administration from Louisiana State University in 1976. His professional experience includes owning Erdley Insurance Agency Incorporated.

Elections for the Louisiana State Senate took place in 2015. A primary election was held on October 24, 2015, with a general election held in districts where necessary on November 21, 2015. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was September 10, 2015, at 4:30 p.m. CDT.[1]
Louisiana elections use the Louisiana majority-vote system. All candidates compete in the same primary, and a candidate can win the election outright by receiving more than 50% of the vote. If no candidate does, the top two vote recipients from the primary advance to the general election, regardless of their partisan affiliation.

Erdey ran for re-election in 2011. He defeated Derek Babcock (R) in the October 22 primary. Because Louisiana uses a blanket primary system, a candidate can be declared the overall winner of the seat by garnering 50 percent +1 of the vote in the primary. However, if no candidate reaches this threshold, then a general election would have taken place on November 19, 2011, between the top-two vote getters.[4]
