Cathy L. Toole was a 2016 Reform candidate who sought election to the U.S. House to represent the 1st Congressional District of Mississippi.[1]

Toole was a Reform Party candidate for Mississippi Commissioner of Agriculture in the 2015 elections.[2] Toole ran to replace incumbent Cindy Hyde-Smith (R), who ultimately won re-election.[3]

Toole was a 2011 Reform Party candidate for Mississippi Commissioner of Agriculture and Commerce.[4] She finished behind Hyde-Smith and Democratic candidate Joel Gill in the general election.

Heading into the election, Ballotpedia rated this race as safely Republican. Incumbent Trent Kelly (R) defeated Jacob Owens (D), Chase Wilson (L) and Cathy L. Toole (Reform) in the general election. Kelly defeated challenger Paul Clever in the Republican primary on March 8, 2016.[1][5]

Eleven state executive offices in Mississippi were up for election in 2015. The general election was held on November 3, 2015, following a primary election on August 4, 2015. Runoffs were scheduled for August 25 in case no candidate received a majority (50 percent plus one) of the popular vote in a given primary race.

Challenger Toole faced incumbent Cindy Hyde-Smith (R) and challenger Addie Lee Green (D) in the general election.[6]
