Cornelius E. Regan was acting judge for the 1st District of the Louisiana 5th Circuit Court of Appeal. Regan assumed office on March 1, 2023. Regan was appointed to serve pro tempore until a special election is held to replace former Louisiana 5th Circuit Court of Appeal judge Hans J. Liljeberg. [1]

Regan was the Division B judge of the 24th Judicial District in Louisiana. He was elected to this position on September 30, 2006, and was re-elected without opposition in 2008.[2][3][4] He was re-elected in 2014 for a term beginning on January 1, 2015. His term expired on December 31, 2020.[5][6]

Career

Regan is a former assistant Orleans Parish district attorney. He then worked as the chief of trials for the Jefferson Parish District Attorney's Office from 1997 until his judicial election in 2006.[8]
