The games are "unrelenting horror" without this music because Telltale's worlds were empty. Few NPCs, small "rooms," and little or no ambient noise.
What Jared does here is take advantage of all that empty space and FILLS the hell out of it with cacophony and euphony. There is so MUCH going on in every track that it can often be overwhelming, but it works brilliantly in context. This album is so thick, so jam-packed with big, wild presence that it becomes foreground music, not underscore.
