With the NX200 Samsung wants to offer a system camera wich reconciles the performance of a Single-lens reflex camera and the convenience of a digital compact camera. The NX200 will prove this with a completely light metal body, a 20.3 megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor, an ISO range from 100 to 12,800 and a bunch of nice features.
Digital compact cameras are ideal for the majority of users to make their (holiday) photos. Models with 20 x optical zoom that still fit in your pocket, you’ll find in any electronics store. Demanding users will, however, not be satisfied with the quality of these cameras and choose their resort to a large spiegelrelfex with accompanying lenses. Since a few years, however, alternatives to exist in the form of compact system cameras with interchangeable lenses.
The Body
The Samsung is the newest addition to the NX family. The camera weighs 220g (without battery) and is finished in a light metal body of 116.5 x 62.5 x 36.6 mm. Because of this he is smaller yet sturdier than its predecessor. The back of the body is dominated by the display with the usual navigation keys as well as a key with a for immediately filming, but more on that later. At the top you’ll find the on-off switch containing the shutter button as well as a wheel to zoom in on images and another to go through the different modes. All buttons are where you expect them except the wheel that rotates through the different modes rotates very rough. This could be better. Right behind a flap you will find a micro USB and a mini HDMI port and at the bottom of the Li-ion battery the appliance swallows just about avery formatted SD card. The battery has a capacity of 1030mAh, good for approximately 320 photos. Due lack of space there is no built-in flashlight but this comes along in the box wich you can click into the top of the Smart Shoe. The same story goes for a viewfinder (electronic viewfinder), although thsi can be purchased seprately. These accessories don’t really benefit the design and make the camera a lot less portable. Not ideal so much for those who need it.
