Basically this original room (prior to someone making 2 rooms into 1 big room) was smaller, so the change in floor level was never an issue. However, I wanted the 2 finished bedrooms to be a little more equal in size. I came up with the idea of making a built-in bed to disguise the fact that there is a change in floor level. At the front are IKEA fridge cabinets with drawers, then the change in floor level is right behind it. There was still a bit of space between the upper floor level and these IKEA cabinets. So, rather than cover it up and have a hollow space, we decided to make some storage out of it. Yes it’s going to be under a mattress, but we won’t access it often. Think seaso
