Sitting on the roof……of the temple

Summary:

Shine in the dark

Glitter like a star

Father and daughter under the stars

Work Text:

Shining Glitter……oh Shining Glitter. Their second child and their first daughter. She’s certainly interesting. For one she has limited magical output, well she can perform magic but has a lower level of magic in her system than her peers. She’s just as if not even more energetic than Burning Spice’s own husband and her second father.

She has this habit. It’s more of a tradition with how on point she is about being on time for this. When it’s really late at night she climbs up to the roof of the temple to watch the stars. Burning Spice being the light sleeper that he is, could occasionally hear his daughter singing. She didn’t do it all the time, and most nights would just have the sounds of her footsteps arriving and leaving the roof. Tonight though would be different.

“I suppose this spot is not taken?”

Shining Glitter looks to see her father facing her. She lightly taps the clay roof to send her message. The two sat in complete silence and darkness, she was never really good with conversation. Even with family she would find it difficult to make small talk, but she would manage. “You could see the Spire of Knowledge from here.” She squinted and saw the spire almost immediately. How did she never notice that?

“Huh……I never noticed that I could.”

“Why do you come up here anyways? I mean I know night time can be dull for a child, but you can’t keep doing this without telling me or someone else.”

“I……i come up here to have an audience.” She immediately shuts her eyes, wary of her father’s reaction. “An audience?” He’s confused. Why would he be confused about what audience? The audience in question is obvious. She points up at the stars in the sky to answer him.

“Elaborate.”

“Well I guess with you and pa being so busy and me not having anyone to sing to. I figured why not sing to the stars, y’know.”

“Well let me be the one to apologize to you.”

“No, dad. I completely understand. Besides it’s nice, singing to the stars I mean.”

He chuckled softly at that. “Would you like to sing to me?” Shining Glitter did a double take when he said that. “Are you sure?”

“I mean, I kind of got a sneak peek whenever you sneak up here. Besides I’m your father, I won’t judge.”

Upon hearing that Shining Glitter hugged her dad before turning around. “Now are you absolutely certain that you want to hear me sing?”

“I’m positive rainbow.”

She took a deep breath and began.

“Shine in the dark.

Showing the world my spark.

Glitter like a star.

Shining down from afar.”
