Work Text:
Chan and Seungkwan were like two worlds orbiting the same system. They could see each other from a distance, but they would never be able to touch.
Orbiting the same system meant that they lived beyond the same stars. They could see all of them together, count them one by one, but the stars were already dead—just like their love, a love preserved only because of the speed of light.
Yes, their love was purely astronomical. They would whisper words of love, but when face to face, everything changed. They had countless chances to leave it all behind and just run.
Maybe that could have preserved their love.
Maybe.
But that was all. They were like the stars, stars too far from Earth—the same stars that would die without even the chance to illuminate the sky.
They were like the sun and the moon. Too far to love, but too dependent on each other to keep it away.
Some cultures say that the Sun’s burning love would destroy everything, and the Moon, with its tears, would flood the Earth. The Moon might quench the fire, but the Sun would evaporate the water. The Moon didn’t care, but the Sun was afraid. Too afraid, so it kept its distance.
When the Moon came into the sky, the Sun would disappear. One on each side of the endless sky.
But the Moon kept trying to keep them alive. It still tries, even now. That’s why, on some days, it’s easy to see them close to each other.
But you know, things don’t happen as easily as we want them to.
That’s why, one day, the Sun knows the Moon will stop.
Just like Chan knew when Seungkwan finally stopped coming.
Two worlds apart.
