Work Text:
It was a typical day at the agency-- that was until Mori and his executives burst through the door, demanding his son.
"I'm sorry, but who exactly is your son?" Kunikida asked, voicing the question on everyone's minds.
"That would be me he's referring too, Kunikida" Dazai said, scratching his head aa he emerged from the office with the president in tow.
"Dazai-kun, there you are! Ready to come home with us?" Mori said his voice tinged eith excitement. "Everyone's missed you so dearly, expecally my dear Elise. She wouldn't stop lecturing me when I let you leave. She said it was 'too dangerous to let you go so young' or something along those lines, I couldn't hear the end of it."
"I'd hate to burst your bubble Mori-San , but Dazai isn't going anywhere with you," Fukuzawa said sternly, his gaze unwavering.
"Mori's smile remained unchanged, though a flicker of annoyance gleamed in his eyes as he leaned in closer. "And who are you to decide that, Fukuzawa-San? We had a deal. I can choose any agency member, and I've chosen Dazai to return."
Fukuzawas gaze deepened "Dazai is fifteen. He's not returning to the Port Mafia, he is happy here at the agency, and you have nothing you can offer him aswell.
"Actually, we have his boyfriend-"
"HE'S NOT MY BOYFRIEND MORI-SAMA!" Dazai cut in, hid face turning bright red at Mori's statement. Chiuya, also a bit red, couldn't help but chuckle at Dazais sudden outburst.
Aside from Ranpo, who knew what was going on, and was throughly amused, the rest of the agency was left confused. What did he mean that Dazai, their bandage-waisting coworker-was actually fifteen, and the Port Mafia bosses son?
Ranpo, still grinning, leaned in his chair and casually crossed his arms. "You all didn't know? I thought it was obvious." He said with a mischievous glint in his eyes.
"Not everyone is as smart as you Ranpo. Still, why didn't you tell us, Dazai? This information is important. Why did you lie to us and sat you were twenty-two when you were fifteen? Yosano asked.
"I thought you would treat me differently, like I'm a child if I did, so I lied." Dazai started, looking at the ground to make himself seem more pitiful. "And I didn't tell you I was his son because you guys never asked about it, besides he's not my real dad anyway--just adoptive, right? Odasaku!" Dazai continues as he ran right past the Port Mafia members, rushing to hug the new figure standing right outside, holding a white bag that appears to have food inside.
"Ah, Sakunoske, how wonderful to see you again! How's your new book coming along?" Mori said turning around and greeting Oda with a smile. "And Dazai that hurts you know, I think of you as my real son!"
"Wah, wah go cry about it" Dazai said blowing a raspberry at Mori, who just sweat dropped at the younger.
"Dazai" was all Oda said before Dazai turned his head away from Moris direction, muttering a small "sorry" into Odas chest.
The agency had erupted into chaos, wondering how in the world did Oda made Dazai apologize and get a hug from the boy. Dazai shied away at any form of physical contact, even a slight brush of shoulders, so how did this man get Dazai to hug him? And not to mention somehow with just one word, he had gotten Dazai to apologize- an actual apology from Dazai. Kunikida was practically at Oda's feet, begging him to spill how he got Dazai to apologize. Even Ranpo and the President looked a bit taken aback at Dazais words.
Kunikida, his voice trembling with desperation added, "I need to know you secrets, Oda. Please, tell me! If I could get Dazai to apologize, just once- just once- I'd be able to retire in peace!"
Dazai puffed his cheeks out a bit and nudged Kunikida away with his foot. "Odasaku privileges only, back up."
"Sorry to interrupt, but we've got to get going now boss." Chuuya spoke up, reminding everyone why they were here in the first place.
"Ah, yes thank you Chuuya for reminding me, now Dazai shall we go? Mori said turning towards Dazai.
"I'm good, I'd rather stay for awhile longer thanks. And if you disagree with that-" Dazai said looking at him, a menacing smile forming on his face as he continued, "I'll tell Elise about how much you've been pinning for my boss. You've traumatized me with what you said. What was it again? How much you wish he'd hold you instead of-" Mori let out a high-pitched squeal and tried to cover Dazai's mouth.
"Dazai, that's enough. You don't want to give them a heart attack, do you? Also I've got some extra curry if you want to eat some with me. It isn't as spicy as usual." Oda said looking at Dazai, waiting for his response. Dazai immediately nodded, tyring towards his coworkers as he grabbed Odas hand leading him to the kitchen, signaling that the conversation was over and no one was transferring to the Port Mafia.
Mori just sighed as he turned around, "Alright then, we will be off now, until next time Fukuzawa-San!" Mori waved, and in a second all Port Mafia members that were once in the agency were now gone.
Fukuzawa just told everyone to get back to work because he was not going to deal with this.
And so it's just a normal day at the Armed Detective Agency.
