Warm.
I felt warm.
Her smile always lit up the night, didn’t it? It made everything feel a bit warmer.
Like a candle, in the dark.
Her eyes were like… spotlights. Any worry or doubt I carried, dispelled at a moment’s notice.
My eyes flutter open, to stare back into hers. To listen to her quiet laughter at how silly I must sound.
And just like that, she’s gone.
I sit up from my bed, the whispers of a memory only agitating my sense that something’s missing.
The whispers of a gentle touch. Of a lovely smile, of caring eyes.
The remnants of something I can no longer recall.
…Just a dream.
Of course. It… couldn’t have been anything else.
It was just a dream.
…Just a dream.
