Chapter Text
blood splatters all over the concrete floor with a body going limp and thudding onto the same floor after.
"boss, where do we move him to?"
"throw him in the cellar."
a man lowly utters. his cold demeanour emits a threatening energy, seemingly expressing that his position amongst everyone present is higher than expected. his broad shoulders tower over his men and just his back view frightens many.
"splash his face with a bucket of water in a few hours and continue whatever we were doing."
the man wearing a denim jacket over a plain white t-shirt slowly turns around. his fingers graze over the sharp blade of the pocket knife in his hands. but he stops before touching a bloodstain. his resting face turns into a frown.
he removes his fingers from the blade.
his hand extends to the front as his eyes linger on the blade. a hankerchief was quickly placed in his extended hand as if from habit. he wraps the hankerchief around the blade and wipes the bloodstain away. a subordinate retrieves the now dirty hankerchief back and retreats from the area, two other men following from behind as they drag the unconscious man across the floor.
the man slots his pocket knife into his back pocket. his eyes blink slowly and move to the front. he adjusts his jacket and walks towards his car.
a small and sharp face like this would have been on the front pages of magazines, along with his fair skin and charming features; he might as well be a model. whenever he narrows his eyes, they mirror a hawk's, sharp and ready to attack. many call him 'the hawk' seeing the similarities between the two, along with the bloody scenes they leave; hence the name 'crimson hawks'.
but here he is, living the life of a ruthless gangster feared by the underworld. one that hates the sight of blood. how ironic.
suddenly, clapping sounds were heard from the pillar behind his car.
"wah, huang jun jie, huang jun jie...what a brilliant show you have put up!" mockery sounds from in front and a pair of black leather shoes step outwards.
another charming man appears, hands clapping and a sarcastic smile plastered his face as he reveals himself.
this man wears dark clothing from head to toe, his eyes flashing a hint of playfulness as he taunts at huang jun jie. his fingers have silver rings on them, and he is almost as tall as the other. his mischievous eyes sparkled above the two distinct moles on his face whenever he spoke.
"i was so scared by your moves, i was even contemplating whether to come out or not."
huang jun jie’s eyes narrowed. it wasn't a surprise to see that man. after all, what he always does is follow him everywhere he goes.
"xia zhi guang, i didn't realise you would be my biggest fan. what do you even do besides following me around like a dog?"
huang jun jie fires back, his eyebrows raised at the man in front of him. he then leans forward and whispers loud enough for the people present to hear.
"like a stray dog."
the two men in black beside xia zhi guang steps forward in threat, which earns a light chuckle from huang jun jie.
"aiyo, little puppy, why did you train your men to be so short-tempered? look at my men, you guys have a lot to learn from them."
xia zhi guang’s smile still plasters on his face as he raises a hand to stop his men. he steps closer and closer to huang jun jie and whispers back, "maybe your men are too embarrassed of their weak skills taught by their little boss. look at how still they're standing, looks like they have nothing to show off for me."
huang jun jie’s men balled their fists up in silence, but still remained in their positions as huang jun jie raises a hand to stop them too.
huang jun jie moves his face closer to xia zhi guang, his minty breath fanning against xia zhi guang's lips and he utters in confidence,
"little? i wonder who's shorter than me."
xia zhi guang grits his teeth behind his smile and huang jun jie’s eyes capture it. he smirks and stares into his eyes.
"less talking, more fighting, hm?"
xia zhi guang’s sarcastic smile turns into a smirk, but quickly diminishes as he dodges a punch from huang jun jie. he returns a fist towards huang jun jie’s stomach but misses.
huang jun jie reaches for xia zhi guang’s shoulder blade, but was quickly pushed off a second before he grabbed it. xia zhi guang grabs his arms and tries to pin him down onto the floor but huang jun jie turns in time and pushes him back, landing a punch to his stomach.
xia zhi guang lands the same amount of force onto huang jun jie’s stomach, his eyes pierces through huang jun jie’s and they continue to wrestle for another half an hour.
the fight ends with both of them having visible wounds on their faces and bruises on their stomach as usual. blood on the corners of their lips as they pant heavily in front of each other.
"ha, you didn't seemed to improve from the last time we fought, stray dog."
huang jun jie taunts as he fixes his eyes on xia zhi guang, whose lips curled up in a cocky smirk.
"don't bullshit me, huang jun jie. you're talking as if you did much better than me."
huang jun jie huffs a laugh and walks past xia zhi guang pushing his shoulders against his.
"say this again when you earn the top rank then, xia zhi guang."
xia zhi guang remains steady on his feet as his shoulders get pushed back. he turns around and sees huang jun jie get in his car with his men, then leaves to his car.
"boss, can i ask you a question?"
a voice breaks the silent car ride. huang jun jie responds with his eyes closed.
"speak."
"why don't you want to work with...him?"
the other man in the car widens his eyes in fear and nudges the other who asked the question.
"...fuck are you saying...! keep your mouth shut..."
however, huang jun jie didn't even give a single damn about the question.
"why? you're scared of saying his name? you're making it sound like some taboo word."
"n-no...i was just saying, boss...you don't have to answer..."
the men at the front panicked a little and mouthed coarse languages at each other.
"focus on driving, li dong yuan."
"yes boss!" the two men obediently sit up in their seats and stopped fighting for the rest of the ride.
collaboration? working together?
huang jun jie scoffs.
...my ass.
"boss, why do you guys always end up in a tie?"
"ask that guy surnamed 'huang' !"
xia zhi guang annoyedly spats, his finger wiping off the blood on his lips roughly.
"boss! don't touch your wound, it might get infected!"
xia zhi guang glares at the subordinate, mouth opening to say something but then stops seeing the young and innocent face in front of him.
why did i bring a kid here...
"cheng qian li, maybe i should've let you drive if i knew you're gonna talk so much bullshit."
the other subordinate says as he warns cheng qian li, shutting the kid up as he sinks down into his seat.
xia zhi guang lets out a frustrated sigh and looks out the window.
to beat huang jun jie, i need a tactic...
