Work Text:
January 1st, 2010.
After a pleasant and fun day at the shrine, Makoto decided to stay a little longer with Koromaru without realizing that it was already dark. At that time, several children arrived in their winter clothes and happily approached to pet the dog, while he just watched them sitting on one of the benches.
— They seem to be happy — a very familiar voice brings him out of his thoughts — .
Once they return to the dorm with the girls, Aigis decided to change into her winter clothes since Mitsuru informed her that Makoto and Koromaru haven't returned yet.
— Yes, despite everything that is happening, nothing can take away their happiness — Makoto says while looking at the children — I guess that's the feeling of the Christmas's eve — .
— Oh, Junpei-san told me something about it — commented Aigis — according to his words, these dates called Christmas and New Year's eve are holidays to spent with the most special people in our lives — .
Makoto just nodded as his gaze wandered to two people in particular, a mother with her son happily making a snowman. Something that made him feel a cold sensation.
<— Makoto-san? — he hears Aigis's worried voice – .
— I'm sorry... with this Ryoji's situation .... — he stops — no... why do I lie myself?, ever since I lost my parents, I don't enjoy these celebrations like before — he confesses — .
Aigis only looks sadly at Makoto, it wasn't the first time he said he missed his parents, only the difference is that she was the only person who heard him mention them. The blond-haired girl's gaze is directed towards the mother and her son while they finish making the snowman.
— What are they doing? — the girl asks to Makoto — .
— A snowman — he answers nostalgically — I used to make one of those — .
— Used to? — he nods in response — Then... Shall we make one together? — she propouses — .
This proposal surprised Makoto, but he also remembered that Aigis had never experienced snow before. So he came up with an idea.
— Or better not, I don't think this is the... — .
— Wait here — with that Makoto left quickly the sanctuary — .
Aigis just stared weirdly at the boy's sudden reaction, Koromaru also looked at the situation.
— Woof? — .
— I don't know Koromaru-san, I told him about snowmen and he just left — Aigis answered to the dog — .
At that Makoto comes running back with several stones and a carrot in his hands.
— Well, I haven't done this for a long time but.... — he says agitated after running around looking for the materials – .
— Makoto-san? — Aigis wondered strangely — .
— What? Don't you wanna make a snowman? — asks the blue-haired boy with a smile on his face — .
With that, Aigis smiled, indicating that Makoto had accepted her idea, and with that they got into action. Since this was the first time for the blond-haired girl, the boy explained to her step by step what she had to do and so the two of them worked as a team.
With the three big snowballs in place, the face, body and arms (with two branches they found in the shrine) Makoto and Aigis were looking attentively at their own snowman.
<— Something is missing... — spoke the boy, taking off his scarf to put it on the snowman — .
Aigis looks at the action and, remembering the other snowman the boy had made with his mother, she takes off her woolen hat that she was wearing to put it on the snowman.
— Woah... — .
It's been a long time since Makoto had made snowmen, and for the first time he felt a warm sensation inside him.
— It doesn't seem bad after all — spoke Aigis breaking the silence — .
— Yeah... — he agrees — thank you Aigis — .
— Oh, it's nothing — she replies — you did most of it — .
— No Aigis — he looks her in the eyes — thank you... for always being by my side — .
Those words made Aigis feel a warm sensation inside her, something she had never felt before.
— Oh... — she looks away blushing — well, it's my biggest priority, isn't it? .
The blue-haired man just smiles at the girl's adorable reaction and with that they both look back at their own creation in the midst of the chaos that is about to ensue....
....with a warm feeling in their hearts.
