Chapter Text

Viktor hadn't expected his day to go the way it had. It started out fine, with the sun starting to shine through the curtains, the birds were chirping, and the usual noise from the city was starting to creep into there home. He had woken up on time, woke Jayce up, and woke Luna up. The girl was too much of a night owl like them. Got ready, said goodbye to Jayce who had a council meeting, Viktor wasn't listening to the specifics. Made sure Luna was ready, honestly the girl was sixteen, he shouldn't have to nag her this much.

Nor should he have to remind her that sneaking off to the Lanes to visit her boyfriend, while she was grounded wasn't a smart choice. The smart choice was going to the lab with Viktor to assist him as she was grounded and Jayce had a council meeting. He finally headed to the academy with Luna.

“Hey mom, where do you want these parts?” Luna asks, carrying a box of parts. Luna was an omega like Viktor. She insisted on doing heavy lifting when and where she could. She wasn't weak after all.

“On the table with the other parts.” Viktor tells her, not looking up from his blueprints.

“You know I wasn't sneaking off to see Jacob.”

“Huh, and where were you going?”

“To visit grandpa. You know how he gets it.” She says with a grunt.

“And Jacob works at the Last Drop. So you would be in fact seeing him. Don't even think about trying to lie to me, young lady.”

“Ugh fine. But, mom, you were young once.”

“Yes, and sneaking around won't do you any good in the long run.”

“It did for you and dad.”

Viktor chose not to respond to her statement as he kept working. He had met Jayce by sneaking into Piltover. Viktor would often sneak into the academy library, to read. It was there that he met Jayce. The pair quickly fell in love, got married, created hextech, improved the lives of Zaun; Piltover and helped bring the two cities together. The peace between cities often felt fragile like glass. With one wrong action or slight would cause it to break and fall apart.

“So what are you and dad working on?” Luna asks, pecking over his shoulder.

“Improve air filters for the mines. Your grandfather has been pushing for a better filtration system for the miners.” Viktor explains. “In fact I do believe he is going to be arguing for it today, with your father's help.”

“I don't blame him for that. Wait, grandpa is here?”

“Yes, so you see.”

“You would have seen right through my lie. Fine you win.” She says, throwing her arms up in defeat. “Is there anything else you need me to do?”

Viktor let out a hum, “No.”

“Well in that chase I’m going to work on my latest project.” She tells him with a smile, as she sat down at the couch. The pair were content to work on there separate projects, Viktor working on the flitters and Luna working on her latest art project. And that was how there morning was spent, up until there was a knock on the lab door.

Luna looked up from her journal, and turned to see Sky. She knew Sky came to talk to Viktor about something. Not that it ever concerned her. She heard snippets of Sky and Viktor talking followed by the scraping of a chair and the taping of a cane.

“I'll be right back.” Viktor tells Luna who nodded her head.

“It's not like I'm going to run off.” Luna tells him as she went back to her work. Viktor gave her a smile before leaving her alone.

Luna let out a sigh as she went back to her work. She wasn't sure what she was drawing, her mind was wandering again. Lately it felt like her mind was off the rails with no ideas. She had hoped her trip to the top of the hexgates would help with that. But, that landed her two weeks of grounding from her parents. With a grunt she sat up and was ready to toss the book against the wall.

“Ugh why is this so hard?” She mutters, running a hand over face. “Dear universe, please send me a sign.”

Luna knew she was tempting the universe, by putting her statement out there. To let the young omega know that the universe was listening in the room exploded. Luna let out yelp as she and the couch were both knocked backwards, with the couch providing cover as something appeared in the middle of the room. In the middle of the room was a large brightly colored sphere. The sphere was letting out a high pitch humming sound. The sphere spun faster, and faster the humming got louder and louder. What felt like an eternity the sphere stopped spinning and the humming stopped.

Carefully she poked her head out from behind the couch, but quickly let out a yell. Next to her was a hammer, someone had thrown it at her.

“Holy shit.” She whispers seeing the hammer.

“Fuck, are you okay?” A voice says panic and pain lacing his words, “I didnt-I didn't mean to do that. Are you okay?”

“Dad?” Luna asks as she crawls out of her hiding spot.

“Dad? What I'm not your-” Jayce was cut off as he let out a hiss of pain. White hot seating pain shot through Jayce's body as he collapsed to the ground. Andt wasn't hard to see why. His left leg was badly hurt, it was mishappend, with the bones being at two different angles. The leg was also badly swollen, and if she had to hazard a guess it was badly bruised.

There was also something wrong with him. As he wore a black dress shirt, black pants, and boots. He wasn't wearing that this morning. The most odd part of his new clothing was the metal brace on his leg. It didn't seem to be doing much.

Luna didn't say anything as Jayce tried to stand, he let out a howl of pain as his leg buckled and fell down. “Dad.” She yells rushing to his side.

“I'm not, why are you calling me that?” Jayce asks as black spots start to dance in front of his eyes. The pain was bad, worse than when he broke his leg originally. He was panting, as he sat there leg throbbing.

“Well you see, you are.” She admits, looking at him, “That looks bad, we need to get you some help.”

Sakra, co se tady stalo?” A voice Jayce was all to ask from the doorway.

“Mom!” Luna yells rushing to Viktor's side and hugging him.

Jayce was in shock? What was going on? He could only watch as the pair talked quietly before Viktor looked at him. “Viktor?” Jayce whispers, watching as his partner comes over.

He looked the same, the same academy uniform, same messy hair, same amber eyes, same cane, same brace. He looked healthier, with his hair brushed back, and tied back with a red ribbon, there was a spark in his eyes one Jayce thought lost. On his left ring finger was a wedding ring.

“Are you alright?” Viktor asks as Jayce wasn't sure how to answer that. “Luna tells me that your leg is broken, will you let me look at it?”

Jayce didn't trust his voice as he nodded his head yes. Viktor smiled as he turned to the girl, Luna Jayce thinks is her name, “Luno, pojď sem a pomoz. našemu hostu ke stolu.”

Ano mami.” She says coming over. It took effort on both Jayce and Luna's part but they were able to get him up. With Luna was on his right side,

Pozor, vypadá těžce.”

“Yea, no shit. Dads still an alpha.” She remarks helping him to sit on the table. With Jayce on the table, the same one he used to revive Viktor, he got a better look at Luna.

The girl was short with long dark brown hair that she had tied back into a fishtail braid with a gold band at the base of the braid, she had amber eyes. She wore a pair of black pants, with boots, and a powder blue shirt. Around her neck was a gold coin with his family's crest in the middle. Since Jayce arrived here he could smell something. It was lavender and vanilla, and the smell was coming from Luna? Was it so strong, and he could smell lemons as well. What was going on?

Jayce wrinkled his nose at the smell. “Do I smell or something?” Luna asks, looking at Viktor, as she lets out a whine.

“No, why do you ask?” Viktor asks Jayce who was sniffing Viktor who smelled like fresh pine and sage. “Now I understand, I believe your father has never smelled an omega before.”

“An omega? An alpha? What is that?” Jayce asks, confused as Viktor sat down in front of him. Luna and Vickor both frowned as Viktor worked to remove the brace from his leg.

“Luna, can you do me a favor?”

“Head to the council building, see if dad showed up, cover for him if he hadn't, and pick up lunch?” She asks.

“Yes, exactly what I was going to say. But, also pick up some pain medicine.”

“Will do mom. I'll be back in a bit.” Luna says, grabbing a brown leather jacket from the back of the chair and leaving.

Jayce was alone with Viktor. A Viktor who was married, and had a daughter. What was going on? Better yet where was he?
