(Not so) hateful Santa

Summary:

“What do you mean ‘Jimin is participating in secret santa’?”

Or

Jungkook was already on his way to the English class when he realised that he hadn't even ordered his coffee. He scoffed.

Tae is inviting this guy to our meetings? Why the hell would he do that unless…he likes him.

Jungkook felt a sting of jealousy that he couldn’t ignore. He was gone for three weeks and the group already replaced him?

Traitors.

Notes:

Hi! It might be my longest fic to date if I happily succeed at it lol I plan to write the story in 3 chapters :)

Chapter Text

Jungkook finally woke up without a fever and a terrible cough. The flu took over his life for over three weeks, turning him into a hermit. His best friend Tae had recently started a new job at a cafe and surprisingly he seemed to absolutely love it. All of his close friends came to visit him, and he was finally able to do the same. Besides, he really started to miss everyone like crazy.

He stepped outside and felt the freezing cold winter air. Grabbing a cup of a hot americano from his best friend before classes sounded like a perfect idea, so that's exactly what he did. Luckily, he lived on a campus so it took him a fairly short amount of time to get to the cafe.

He opened the door and was hit by the smell of pastries and coffee which made him smile with content. He also noticed Namjoon, Seokjin, Hoseok and Yoongi from his friend group chatting at the same table so he gladly walked over to greet them after spending so much time alone in his room.

“Hi, guys,” he said as he sat down next to Namjoon.

“Oh my God, look who came back from the pits of sickness hell!” Namjoon exclaimed. “How are you?”

“Jungkook, man, you're alive!” Seokjin came up to him to give him a big hug.

“I’m finally really good, thanks guys.” Jungkook said reassuringly. “Tae is busy?”

“Yeah…” Yoongi winked.

“Don't be so weird, Yoongi. He has no idea what's going on” Hoseok rolled his eyes. “Tae is being trained by the more experienced barista”

“Who happens to be exactly someone’s type, am I right or am I right?” Yoongi laughed.

“Wait…what?” Jungkook frowned.

Who’s type?

“I mean that's a theory, of course,” Namjoon added. “Tae claims that he would be your cup of…”

“Jungkook!”

Namjoon didn’t finish that sentence because he got abruptly interrupted by Taehyung.

“Taehyung, bro!” Jungkook practically jumped at him.

“Are you finally healthy?” Tae asked with worry in his tone. “Is my baby doing well?”

“Yeah” Jungkook said and smiled. “I heard you're uhm…enjoying yourself here.”

“Oh, this place is great! Quite busy because it's the only cafe on the campus that sells actual coffee, not some coffee-like abominations” he snorted. “I unfortunately don't really have much time to talk right now, Jimin will not handle all the customers by himself” he scratched his forehead. “But I needed to say ‘hello’ to my finally healthy bro.”

Jimin?

“I think you're underestimating me in front of your friend,” said a guy with the most shiny and plump lips Jungkook had ever seen, who suddenly appeared from the background.

“I'm Jimin, I think we haven't had the pleasure to meet yet” he smiled and shook Jungkook's hand.

He looked really… cute. His yellow apron was definitely to blame.

“I'm Jungkook,” he replied. “You're uhm…Tae’s boss?”

Jimin laughed with his entire body.

“I wish,” he winked. “I'm merely teaching him the ropes.”

“Right…” Jungkook gulped. “It's really nice to meet you.”

“You too,” he smiled. “I'm sorry but I do see a line at the counter and our real boss might kill us if we don't get back to work.”

“Of course,” Jungkook replied simply. “Have a nice day” he waved shyly.

What the hell is wrong with me?

Jungkook might have respectfully looked at Jimin, who was hopping toward the customers, and at the way his jeans fit him perfectly.

“Earth to Jungkook” Seokjin smiled. “How do you find him?” He whispered.

“Who?” Jungkook was too stunned to speak.

“Our little barista, of course!” Yoongi smirked. “Isn't he just adorable?”

“Well…he seems nice,” he shrugged his shoulders, pretending that Jimin had no effect on him.

“You might want to get used to him because Tae started inviting him to our hangouts,” Namjoon patted his arm. “Not that it’ll be hard, Jimin is truly amazing,” he added.

“What do you mean ‘Jimin is participating in secret santa’?”

The whole friend group met up for some beer and video games and when Jungkook finally felt like he could relax, he was hit with the information that Jimin is not only on his way to spend time with them, but also he’s supposedly taking part in their annual tradition of ‘secret santa’. It entails giving each other gifts without telling anyone who will be the receiver.

“I mean exactly what I just said,” Tae said with a tint of irritation. “I know you haven’t had a chance to meet him properly yet, but you seemed to be cool with him the first time you saw him, so I’m quite confused.”

“Yeah, when I was blissfully unaware of how close you are with him” he rolled his eyes. “I guess I can’t get sick anymore without the fear of being replaced,” he whined.

As soon as he said those words, Jungkook felt embarrassed.

“Oh, my baby” Tae pulled him into a tight hug. “You can’t ever be replaced, okay?” he pecked Jungkook’s forehead.

“Ew” Jungkook smiled shyly.

“Give him a chance. Trust me, I have a feeling you might get on with him better than you think.”

Soon after that conversation ended, Jungkook heard a doorbell followed by a loud clatter of shoes.

Is it Jimin and is he wearing…heels?

“Hi, everyone!”

Jungkook could hardly believe his eyes.

Jimin was going around saying hello and giving everyone a hug. Looking completely different than in the café. He had some glitter sprinkled on his blond hair and he was dressed elegantly in black trousers and a white velvet shirt. He had on a pair of heeled boots, of course.

“Hello, Jungkook” Jimin came up to him. “Lovely to see you,” he smiled.

Jungkook had an opportunity to examine his face more closely. Precisely, his winged eyelashes, pink gloss on his lips, and highlighter on his cheekbones.

Jungkook was convinced the sight was making him go insane.

“H-hi” he stuttered.

It quickly turned out that Jimin was not the best video games player. In fact, he was quite awful at it. Jungkook on the other hand was easily winning with everyone.

“It's pointless playing with you, man,” Hoseok whined.

“It's not his fault you can't do anything here” Seokjin laughed.

Suddenly, Tae paused the game, getting everyone’s attention.

“I'm sorry guys but we need to draw who's going to be whose secret santa”

“Exactly, time for real adrenaline” Yoongi said, sipping on his beer. “I was getting bored.”

On the kitchen counter, Taehyung set a bag filled with small pieces of paper bearing each person's name.

"All right!" Tae clapped to get the group's attention again. “The rules are the same as always but I'll say them out loud just in case. Everyone draws a single piece of paper and under no circumstances shares it with anyone. It's supposed to be a surprise, are we all on the same page?”

“Yeah!” Everyone screamed in unison.

“Perfect” Tae smiled. “Draw then!”

Jungkook decided to be the last one drawing so when his time came, all eyes were on him. He put his shaky hand into the bag and then took out a tiny piece of paper. He unfolded it carefully so that no one could tell who he got.

He froze right there on the spot. He couldn't stop staring at the tiny name written in the center.

Jimin

Why him…

He hoped no one could tell how nervous he felt. He smiled awkwardly and hid the card in his pocket.

Fucking hell

***

“Tae, it genuinely is a big deal!” Jungkook hid his face in his hands.

He visited his best friend to study for their programming exam together and also to vent about who he got.

Even though he was not supposed to tell anyone.

“Jungkook…I really don't want you to tell me who you drew but based on your behaviour I think I unfortunately connected the dots already,” he sighed and poured them both some coffee. “Jimin is a sweetheart.”

“You keep saying that but it doesn't help!” Jungkook replied irritated. “He could be a heaven-sent angel for all I care but the problem is I don't even know him.  I'm not sure if I like him yet, but it seems like you all do.”

“‘Yet’ is the key word here, honey,” Tae snorted. “I will tell you the easiest solution to your problem but you have to promise me to actually listen to me and do as I say.” he said firmly.

“Okay…” Jungkook sighed. “Tell me. Put me out of my misery.”

“Get to know him.” Taehyung shrugged and sipped his coffee.

Wow

“Uhm, amazing, thanks. How the hell am I supposed to do that?”

“Well, first of all, change your attitude,” he scolded him.

“Sorry…” Jungkook pouted.

“Second of all, you can start by visiting our cafe from time to time, plus he'll be invited to our gaming nights a lot now.”

Even though, he can't play for shit

“So, you suggest that I should make an effort in getting to know him instead of just asking you what he might like?” Jungkook batted his eyelashes.

“Your cute eyes have no effect on me” Tae raised his brow. “Try it for me? Please? I really want you to feel comfortable with him. If you end up hating him I will leave you alone and never suggest things like that again.”

“Pinky promise?” Jungkook asked.

“Pinky promise.”

***

Easier said than done. Jungkook needed to not only somehow guess what a complete stranger might want for Christmas but also try his best to not be a total asshole towards him. He wanted to try, though. For Tae’s sake.

Because Jimin was running around the campus with enormous canvases and occasionally had some dry paint in his hair, he assumed that he was studying art

He looked cute even with that dry paint, of course…

He also noticed that Jimin’s cheeks were exceptionally pink whenever he was getting inside a building after being in the cold for too long.

Maybe he should get him a blush to put more definition to his cheeks. Wait, no…what the hell.

Jungkook decided to randomly visit the cafe after classes, hoping that Jimin would be there. He also brought some books so he could study there that afternoon. He didn't want to come off as some stalking creep.

He went inside and there he was.

“Jungkook!” Jimin waved at him from the counter. “What's bringing you here?” He smiled brightly.

“I…uhm” Jungkook scratched his head. “I was hoping to see Tae”.

A white lie never hurt nobody.

“Oh” Jimin replied.

Does he look… disappointed? No, I am just insane.

“He's not here today,” he shrugged. “I assume you want to order something?”

“Yeah, uhm.” He glanced at the menu. “Could use some help with choosing. I don't drink coffee that often. Mostly americano but I don't really feel like it today.”

He didn't know why he said all that.

“Sure,” Jimin said simply. “I'm supposed to recommend our winter special which is a ginger vanilla latte but only if you're into sweet beverages.” He added.

“I am,” Jungkook said quickly.

Then he remembered why he was there in the first place.

Get to know him.

“Are you?” Jungkook asked.

Jimin looked dumbfounded.

“Me?”

Shit

“Uhm, yeah. W-would you say you like sweet things?” he stuttered realising his face is probably redder than a tomato.

“Yeah I do,” Jimin grinned. “Chocolate is my absolute favourite, just so you know.” he said while getting a cup for Jungkook.

Luckily there were not many customers present.

“So you must like brownies,” Jungkook continued.

“Oh, yes!” the barista clapped. “Why? Can you make some?” He giggled.

Why is he so cute

“Actually, yeah,” Jungkook said sincerely. “I was bored sometime ago and I learned. I've only heard positive things about it.”

"Interesting." Jimin answered. "Perhaps one day you could make me some. That is, when you're bored again," he grinned.

Jungkook caught himself staring at Jimin's brown eyes a little too long.

“Yeah, why not,” he said, blinking fast. “Maybe tomorrow?”

“Oh! I mean no pressure!” Jimin blushed a little.

“None at all,” Jungkook smiled. “I’m pretty sure I’ll be bored enough for some baking.”

Rizz master is who I am.

“Okay then,” Jimin said and fidgeted with a cup. “I'll make you your coffee, you can go pick a seat,” he smiled. “I’m counting on those brownies now,” he winked.

Jungkook was trying his best to make some notes for his studies but he couldn't focus on anything other than Jimin. His laugh, the way he handled customers. It was so endearing. His conversation with him also went less awkward than he expected and he was genuinely excited to bake those brownies.

What if Jimin's actually not that bad?

***

“Okay, but you need to be honest,” Jungkook giggled. “I did my best but you don't have to be nice about it if you hate them,” he placed a plastic container with his brownies in front of Jimin, who took a short break from work and sat with him at the cafe table. Just to taste those famous pastries.

“First of all, why would you assume that I would be nice?” Jimin raised his brow with a small pout.

“You're always nice.”

Those words just fell out of his mouth.

Did I say it out loud?

Jimin just blushed and took a bite.

“Jungkook!” He exclaimed. “Are you serious?” he looked at him with his big brown eyes and Jungkook was positive they would be the death of him.

“Is it that bad?” Jungkook asked, uncertain.

“This is so good!” Jimin put the whole thing in his mouth. “So nice and moist. I'll have you know that I love moist cakes.”

Something else might get moist in no time.

“Oh, thank you” Jungkook smiled. “I'm glad you liked it”

He was genuinely happy. Jimin was so nice and smiley. Why did he hate him again?

“What's going on here?”

Tae's here.

“Tae!” Jimin screamed and hugged him tightly which stirred something unpleasant in Jungkook. “Why are you here? It's your day off!”

“I was looking for Jungkook because he's not answering his phone” he gave him a pointed look.

Jungkook realized that he hadn't checked his phone in quite some time which was very unlike him.

“Do you remember we have a project together?” Taehyung asked, raising his brow.

“Yeah, the ‘python’ project, of course I remember,” Jungkook stood up from his chair and gave him a hug. “Sorry, I was…”

“It's my fault, he gave me some brownies and I couldn't stop telling him about how great they were,” Jimin winked at Jungkook.

Why is he defending him?

“You made brownies? Are there any left?” Taehyung asked. “I don't remember the last time you baked anything.”

“People change, Tae” Jungkook rolled his eyes. “Jimin said he liked chocolate so…I wanted to give him some of my signature brownies.”

“Right…” Tae gave him a suspicious look. “Okay, let's study a little and then we can discuss why I was not blessed with any baked goods from my best friend.”

Chapter 2

Summary:

“I think he’s really cute, Tae.” Jimin hid his face in his hands. “No one has ever baked for me, it's insane!” Jimin screamed at Tae while they were both sitting at the bar.

“Someone’s whipped” Taehyung raised his brow. “I can be your wingman if you want? I've known him all my life.”

“Oh no, please, don't tell him!”

Notes:

This one is from Jimin's pov and things are slowly getting heated for them ;)

Chapter Text

“I think he’s really cute, Tae.” Jimin hid his face in his hands. “No one has ever baked for me, it's insane!” Jimin screamed at Tae while they were both sitting at the bar.

“Someone’s whipped,” Taehyung raised his brow. “I can be your wingman if you want? I've known him all my life.”

“Oh no, please, don't tell him!” embarrassed, Jimin exclaimed. “I don't want him to think that I fell for him already because I love brownies that much.”

“But you did…? Plus, he agreed to go to the club which is very unusual for him, that must mean he's interested in you too,” Taehyung winked.

“Tae…” Jimin whined.

“Sorry, you're so cute when you're embarrassed.” Tae giggled. “I'll keep my mouth shut,” he said, sipping on his drink. “He's probably bored all by himself at the dancefloor, go get him instead of bothering me with this nonsense!” he patted his back.

“Ugh, you'll be the death of me, Tae,” Jimin said and decided to listen to his friend, despite feeling a little nervous. He had no idea what to expect.

The club that all three of them attended was actually Jimin's favorite one. It had nice EDM music and everyone was minding their own business. It was a perfect place to get lost in the lights and forget about reality.

And there he was. His unexpected and very much real…crush.

Jungkook.

He looked a little awkward, dancing in the middle of the dancefloor. But there was something quite endearing about his moves and Jimin felt the need to get closer to him. The strobelights made him look quite hot as well.

“Hi!” He screamed in the younger's ear and smiled widely.

Jungkook’s smile reached immediately his eyes.

“Hi, Jimin!” he replied as loud as he could so that Jimin would be able to hear him. “Are you done drinking with Tae?”

“Uhm, yeah, I thought that we could dance together now, ” Jimin put his hands on Jungkook's shoulders and felt them stiffen immediately. “I mean, if that’s what you want…”

“Oh y-yes, I do, really,” Jungkook stuttered and gulped. “I'm just…I haven't been in the club in like…forever.” he admitted, placing his face close to Jimin’s.

The older one felt a shiver run down his spine when he felt the ghost of Jungkook's lips on his ear.

“It's okay, no one's judging you here,” Jimin started swaying with him a little bit until Jungkook fully relaxed. “Exactly like that” he smiled, seeing him rock his body to the rythm. “You're doing really well.” he said reassuringly.

Why is Jungkook so adorable?

They stopped talking, replacing their words with dance moves and prolonged looks. They took in the beat of the music and the heated atmosphere. At some point they even closed their eyes… and the distance between them lessened too.

Jimin suddenly felt himself being pulled into a tight embrace as Jungkook's hands started mingling with his shirt, right on his waist. Jimin placed them slowly on his butt, which made the younger whimper and grab that part of his body strongly.

Jimin smirked. He enjoyed the effect he had on the younger. He wondered if Jungkook would be this pliant in bed as well. He then turned, so that his back was right on Jungkook's crotch and started slowly grinding. He imagined sitting on his dick and felt himself growing bigger in his pants.

Jungkook pressed his hands hard on Jimin's hips and gently bit his earlobe. Jimin’s eyes rolled back into his head. No one has ever done this before to him and that might become his new kink. He could feel that Jungkook was getting hard as well and a shiver run down his spine at the sensation.

“Shit, Jimin,” Jungkook hissed. “I-I have to go, I'm so sorry!” He suddenly pushed him away and ran, leaving Jimin completely dumbfounded.

Fuck. What the actual fuck? I scared him off, fuck!

Jimin quickly found Tae mingling with some strangers and  having the time of his life but unfortunately he had to destroy that fun for him.

“Tae, I fucked up,” He said, fidgeting with his shirt.

“Jimin! You’re here! Where's Jungkook? Omg, are you crying?” Tae grabbed Jimin's hands. “What's going on?”

“He left,” Jimin felt a tear staining his cheek. “I think scared him away,” he bit his lip nervously.

***

Tae convinced Jimin to stay the night at his place. He didn't want to leave him alone in such distress.

They both washed off their party makeup and put on some pajamas. Tae gave Jimin his oversized T-shirt and a huge cup of green tea to make him feel cozy and comfortable. Then they sat down at the couch and Tae cuddled him gently in his arms.

“What happened, baby?” He asked, caressing his hair.

“Ugh, it's so embarrassing” Jimin hid his face in his hands. “We were dancing and…I don't know, I just felt this instant connection with him. It got really heated, really quickly. We were making eye contact and I could have sworn he seemed interested in me.” He frowned. “And I…You know, I started grinding on him a little bit and still, he seemed very into it! I thought we were about to kiss at any point” Jimin said, trembling. “And then, all of a sudden, he pushed me away. As if he realised that he was making a mistake or something, I don’t know…Then, he said that he was sorry and he fucking ran for the hills” Jimin hid his face in the crook of Taehyung’s neck. “I'm positive it's my fault, Tae…”

Taehyung sighed, annoyance palpable in the way he stiffened.

“He's so fucking stupid sometimes” Tae rolled his eyes. “He’s my baby and I've known him for ages so as an expert I think that he felt overwhelmed by you.” he shrugged. “It's definitely not your fault. It looks like he couldn't handle the situation. I’m sure you wouldn’t try to make him uncomfortable on purpose.”

“Yeah, that definitely wasn’t my intention…” Jimin sighed.

“He rarely gets that shy, though,” Tae snorted. “Maybe he couldn't handle your dancefloor game,” he winked.

“It's not funny at all,” Jimin playfully hit his chest. “What if he hates me now and I’m hopelessly into him because he baked me brownies?!”

“Jimin…that's impossible. No one in their right mind could possibly hate you. I'll talk to him, okay?”

“Could you ask him why he ran like that?” Jimin asked, feeling unsure about the whole situation. “I don't think I have enough courage to do it myself.”

“Of course, honey,” Tae kissed the top of his head. “But don't worry, I'm sure he just freaked out because you're the most stunning person in the world. He'll be on his knees for you soon.”

“Tae!” Jimin whined. “Don't give me false hope, please,” he pouted.

“It's not false at all, but okay,” Tae sighed. “Let me put you to bed, drama queen”

***

The next day Jimin hoped that Jungkook would stop by their cafe or that he would bump into him by accident on their campus. But there was no sight of him for the whole week. Finally, as Jimin was beginning to accept his fate, he saw him.

Praise the lord

It was already pitch dark outside and it started to snow when Jimin was on his way back to the dorm. He was sucking on his lemon lollipop, thinking about his new art project, when suddenly he noticed a dark silhouette that was walking in circles in front of the building Jimin was living in, looking visibly nervous.

“Jungkook?” Jimin asked with a frown. “Is that you?”

Jungkook came closer to him, looking pale as a ghost.

“Hi,” he said quietly. “I'm sorry to bother you, Tae told me which building you live in and I just wanted to talk to you.” he said, avoiding eye contact. “I hoped you’d be here by now.”

Jimin noticed that Jungkook was focusing quite hard on his lips that happened to be glazed with the sweetness of his lollipop. He smirked.

“Oh, I see” he pulled the lollipop out with a pop. “What would you like to talk about?”

Jungkook visibly gulped.

“For starters, I didn't mean to run from you like that.” he scratched his forehead. “I just…I didn't expect to enjoy dancing with you uhm…that much,” Jungkook blushed. “I literally got…God, that is so embarrassing” he hid his face in his hands. “Excited”, he almost whispered.

Jimin walked up to him with newly found confidence.

“You got hard, baby?” Jimin asked quietly. “Is that why you left the club early?”

Jungkook turned into a human tomato.

“What? Uhm, I…Are you making me say that out loud?” He snorted. “That’s evil…”

“You came all the way here just to tell me that you got hard when I touched you and that’s why you left?” Jimin grinned and licked his lips. He felt nothing but mischief running in his veins.

And Jungkook seemed to be blissfully unaware that he awakened a demon in him.

“You're lucky that Tae was there to keep me company.”

“I'm really sorry, I…”

“Shh…” Jimin looked him in the eye and put a string of Jungkook’s hair behind his ear. “I thought you hated me and you were just…embarrassed?” he giggled. “It's a relief.” He caressed Jungkook's cold cheek with his fingertip. “Tae told me that you don't usually go clubbing. Did you want to go because of me?”

Jungkook smiled weakly.

“I wanted to get to know you better,” he shrugged. “I still do.” He added quickly. “But there's one thing that concerns me.”

Jimin frowned.

“What is it?”

“Are you and Tae…you know.” Jungkook bit his lip nervously and fidgeted with his fingers. “Is there something romantic going on between you two? I don't want to pray…”

“Nothing romantic is going on between me and Tae,” Jimin stated firmly. “We're friends who got along really quickly but that's it.” he smiled. “I’m not trying to steal him from you, if that’s what you’re really asking. I know you two are very close.”

Jungkook looked somewhat relieved.

“Okay” Jungkook smiled shyly. “As I said, I just really want to get to know you since you're a part of our friend group and I’m…curious about you.”

Jimin couldn't stop staring at his reddened face. So adorable.

“So you want to get to know me well, huh?” Jimin raised his brow.

Jungkook looked at him with his giant puppy eyes and nodded.

“Okay, then.” Jimin smirked. “Close your eyes.”

“W-what…?” Jungkook seemed confused.

“Trust me.” Jimin reassuringly grabbed his hands into his own and felt the younger shiver. “And open your mouth.”

Jimin's firm tone always got him exactly what he wanted, so there was no surprise that Jungkook complied easily. He took his lollipop out and pressed it firmly on the younger's lower lip and then slowly caressed the younger’s tongue with it. Jungkook hastily sucked on it and hummed, still keeping his eyes closed.

Jimin felt the excitement building up in his belly at the sight.

“You can open your eyes now, sweetie,” He said smiling but his eyes darkened with lust, seeing Jungkook so submissive.

Jungkook's pupils widened when he looked at Jimin.

“That's my favourite candy, just in case you wondered.” Jimin winked and giggled playfully. “I hope to see you around the campus, especially at the cafe. No need to be embarrassed. You're great!” he said and quickly went into his dorm’s building, not giving Jungkook a chance to say ‘goodbye’.

I wanted to kiss him so bad

He had no idea what came over him but Jungkook was making him literally fall into his dom headspace and that hasn’t happened in a long time. He felt so bold and hot around him that he couldn't help himself but be a little dirty with him. However, most importantly, Jungkook didn't hate him. If anything, he seemed quite into Jimin's antics. He needed to call Tae and tell him what the hell just happened.
