Work Text:

Akari couldn’t remember how long she had been at Cogita’s retreat.

Had it been days? Weeks? Or had it only been a few hours? There was no way for her to tell. Every time she looked out the window, it was always the same red sky. Unchanging.

Everything was a blur. It got worse whenever Cogita would gently pour tea down her throat, the taste of honey covering whatever else Akari knew Cogita was putting in it, but she was helpless to resist it.

If she had been of more sound mind, Akari may have found it pathetic. She had taken on countless alpha pokémon with little more than her bare hands, but now she couldn’t even fight off one elderly lady.

Akari heard Cogita and Volo talk sometimes. Volo sounded anxious and constantly on edge. Impatience laced his voice. Something about their plan working. How it was taking too long.

Cogita sounded like a caring, but stern mother when she told him it was fine. That as long as the lost one remained incapacitated, their plan would work.

In her moments of consciousness, Akari could feel the resentment in Volo’s gaze towards. Bitterness and jealousy. She had a feeling if it weren’t for Cogita, Volo would’ve rid himself of her already.

But Cogita wouldn’t let him near her. Would send him away if he got too close. Akari barely knew anything about this woman besides her name, yet the older woman seemed ready to defend and protect her from the rest of the world.

Akari sometimes could feel Cogita take care of her. Hushing her when she tried to speak or sit up. More than once Akari had been drawn out of her deep slumber with the feeling of Cogita’s gloved hand at her sex. Assuring her that it would all be okay despite her cries and protests.

Cogita told her how the clans and Galaxy Team were trying so hard to fix the sky, but they didn’t know what to do.

She told her how they had forgotten all about her. Abandoned her for good.

Perhaps it was just whatever Cogita had been giving to her to feel so hazy, but Akari felt as if the sky was literally falling down from the heavens when she looked at it from the window.

Cogita’s gentle hand cupped her cheek, turning her attention away from the apocalypse happening outside.

She promised Akari it was all alright. That they’d have a new world - no pain or suffering. She’d be happy. That this life would all feel like little more than a bad dream.

It’ll all be okay. I’ll take care of you.

And as Cogita pressed her lips to her’s, Akari believed her.

Notes:
