Chapter Text
- "NEXT UP, C'MON WE NEED TO GET THESE SCHOOL PHOTOS OUT WHILE THE PRINTER IS STILL WARM!"
That was Becca, Becca Prescott. The sister of the police man who kept roaming around the school trying to find out clues of the disappearances of some students and the cause. Recently they've found nothing and all The Vice Principal been doing was ushering him out clearly trying to keep the schools reputation up float despite that. Becca was pretty kind to I's knowledge. But my line of thought stopped all of a sudden.
Feeling my shoulder being tapped on and snapping on my face. I must had zoned out. "Oh, hey Becca." - "That's Prescott to you." She snapped back with a scoff. "C'mon pictures Daley, up and adams." A frown placed on my face as I ushered to the backdrop. Standing with my shoulders rolling straight and back mimicking a ruler. The bright light flashing my eyes as I blinked anticipated it. The eigengrau lingering on my vision before settling. "NEXT!", A grimace - I didn't even wish to see what I looked like so I did so, just left to the waiting room for the rest of my classmates to finish.
Sitting back I couldn't help but wonder once more at the idea. Where was Yejun? Where was Dhanya, the whole situation was strange and something wasn't right. Miss Njoki wouldn't let anyone on campus before dark. Maybe it was a crazy killer. But that seemed wrong.
Feeling a hand resting on my thigh, looking over to be met with Seoung. "Are you alright? You seem less focus these days.". I sighed, If I told her(even if she was my best friend). She might as well consider me a crazy conspiracist. Gulping down my worries and spoke again. "Yeah. I'm alright Seoung. Thank you.". A smile on the girl as her head rested against my shoulder. Her dark hair draping down my collar. I couldn't help but lean in to the comfort, it was a nice break from thinking and worrying.
"You know, me and the other people from class 3B is planning to go to Chaoxing's house for a party to get away from all of this and since we're graduating soon, so a pre-graduating party." Seoung uttered quietly. Her words rolling off as soft murmurers as another yell from Becca cut through the silence whilst I considered it. "Yeah I'll go. I don't want to be the only one who doesn't." I laugh awkwardly, running a hand through my hair.
And after a few minutes, all of their class was finished so Seoung and I left to head to the only place with serenity. The library.
The air in the library was still, only a few students were around - a bowl cut that was tutoring a beanie haired girl. And a far away figure of a masculine man with a ponytail.
Seoung's hand gently placed over mine as I bit down on the rubber of my pencil. Glancing down at the work I was figuring out. Some last-minute homework that Mr. Harris assigned(which made the whole class groan, what a mood kill no?). I swore I saw something yearning in Seoung's eyes but I couldn't. I had to figure this out, figure out the disappearances and this reckless killer. "As I said before, stressing makes to age faster." Seoung commented with a frown, her hand hesitating before moving away. I just looked over meeting her eyes. "I know, I'm just. There's no way that Yejun would just leave or Dhanya either. There is something else." I uttered, hand gripping the wood. "Yeah but we got that police officer around."
"No, that doesn't change the fact that he's just here to comfort the others that are worried. I don't see the point, it doesn't change anything." I grumbled almost, a sigh escaping me. I didn't want to be rude to Seoung I almost felt bad for lashing out. "Listen, I don't mean it." I continued, a hand on hers to recreate the moment before. "No, it's okay Iris. You need time." Seoung stood up, the chair scraping against the floor as she packed up her bag and walked off. Biting my lip watching her go. A hand nesting in my hair as guilt stirred in my chest.
Some footsteps approaching my direction. Soft padding of their shoes as the stranger bent down - no just leaned forward. Feeling his breath, a minty taste. "You alright?" Andrew's voice rang through my ears going through. His big eyes locked on mine almost looking for some weakness. It was eery and I wanted to leave. Their words were akin to a mother talking to a child. "I am. Seoung - no I. I just I'm bothered by all of this happening. You know." I answered, my eyes looking away from his.
A awkward laugh escaping him as a hand rustling through my hair. "You're the girl that does the school's gardening no?", "Yeah I do. But I'm not a gardener. I'm a florist." I repeated, the confusion between the lines of gardening and a florist always irked her but at least they got her interests down. A bit.
"Gardening - being a florist, not much differences is there?" Another begrudging sigh escaping my lips. "There is a difference, gardeners provide. I do it for the sake that their pretty." A hand leeched to my chin raising it up. "And you're quite pretty yourself." A sudden rush went through me at his words, so sweet and savoury his words but his eyes watched me like a experiment.
- "I'm not interested Tran. But thank you." I argued. My hand reaching his and entangling between his fingers moving it down against the table. "Don't touch me, we don't know each other like that. Learn some manners." My eyes narrowing on his. He did used to hang out with Yejun before he was taken and he didn't seem panicked at all of his apparent friend being gone.
A nonchalant shrug from Andrew as he stepped back. "Suit yourself. I'll be on my way. I'll check out your gardenin- no flowers." Trailing off as he stepped away. Moving off to the exit. I couldn't help but feel some relief from that, the bea ting of my heart finally calming down. Looking at the clock that let a small tick every second - '2pm'. Thinking, I should probably find Seoung and make sure she's alright and plan to go to that party she was talking about before.
