Chapter Text
The first part of summer vacation was already underway. Izuku was enjoying the last few days of rest before summer camp. When he left his room that morning, it was already past 10. Far later than he normally let himself sleep. He walked through the tiny apartment letting the smell of apples and faint musk fill his nose. He entered the kitchen and wasn’t surprised to see his dad sitting at the kitchen table.
“Mornin’,” Izuku said to him before opening the fridge and grabbing the carton of orange juice.
“Good morning kiddo,” Dad said keeping his eyes on the laptop in front of him. It looked like he was still finishing up plans for the summer camp and how to train the first year’s quirks. “Got any plans for the day?” he asked.
Izuku shrugged, pouring himself a glass of juice. “I figure I’ll get a head start on some of my summer homework. Maybe take a long jog around the neighborhood. I was also thinking about bothering Kacchan.”
Dad smiled as he finished his paragraph. “That could be fun, now that you two are friends again. You’ve been moaning about not sparring with him for weeks.”
He laughed as plopped himself into the seat across from Dad. “Yeah, that’s true. But who knows? I only have a week before camp. I wanna make the most of it. Everything has been so crazy lately with Shigaraki and the mall. This could be my only chance to relax for who knows how long.”
“Mmm, good point.” Dad lifted his mug up to his lips “I’m working from home today, so we could do something together.”
Before Izuku could respond, they heard the front door open. Dad looked toward the arch of the kitchen. He opened his mouth to speak but All Might’s large body practically jumped into the kitchen.
“I AM HERE!” he cried, making them both jump. Orange juice went flying as Dad nearly fell out of his chair. “With exciting news! Good morning, Midoriyas!”
“All Might?” Dad asked, readjusting himself in his seat “Tosh, what the hell are you doing?” he asked, pinching the bridge of his nose.
All Might deflated into the form of Yagi. “Sorry for bursting in so suddenly. I just got some exciting news and couldn’t wait to tell you both about it. So I came rushing over.”
Izuku stood up from his chair. He’d spilled his juice down his shirt and his heart was still pounding in his chest “Yagi-san you scared the hell out of me!” he whined “And now my t-shirt is all gross.” He put his cup in the sink, grabbed a towel, and began to dab it off.
“Yeah Tosh, now what was so exciting you felt the need to break into our home?”
Yagi laughed “I just got a call from a dear friend of mine’s daughter. I told you about my friend from America. Dave?”
Dad nodded along. “The one you dat- did hero work with when you were in college?” Dad asked, coughing on a word.
Yagi’s face flushed “...Yes. That Dave. Well, his daughter just got in contact with me. Apparently, her father just finished up some research project. And this weekend is a large event and she invited me, and some guests of my choosing to go.”
Izuku looked up in interest “Event? What kind?”
“It’s called I-Expo. On I-Island and-”
But Izuku had stopped listening. “I-ISLAND?” he asked. “Isn’t that the crazy moving man-made island where a bunch of support item inventors live?” He dropped the towel and grabbed his teacher by his shoulders, shaking him lightly “I-Expo is a huge event! They invite top pro heroes from all over the world! It’s cutting-edge! Are you asking us to come with you? I wanna go-” he turned to his father “Dad we have to go!”
Dad folded his arms over his chest “I dunno Tosh, is that such a good idea? I know Izuku is on break but he has the camp coming up and with Shigaraki and the League on the move... Is that such a good idea?”
“Well,” Yagi said “I-Island is the most secure place in the world. It rivals Tartarus. Plus that’s part of why I’m asking you to go. I wouldn’t be comfortable leaving you two here without me. And it’s just a weekend trip. The Island is going to be docked not too far from Japan for the Expo so the flight would only be a few short hours.”
“Dad,” Izuku moved to stand in front of his father “Please? Pleeeeease?” he asked, giving him his biggest puppy dog eyes. “Please! I really wanna go!”
“Yes, erm-” Yagi coughed before attempting to give Dad puppy dog eyes as well “Please, Hisashi? I’d very much like to have you two with me.”
His father sighed. It was clear he knew he was outnumbered. “Fine, we can go. Izuku and I do deserve a low-stakes vacation. We did both just pass some very hard tests. When are we leaving?” he asked.
Yagi checked his phone “Our flight would be for... Tomorrow morning! Sorry, this is so last second.”
Dad sighed but did smile. “Of course it is.” He closed his laptop and stood. “Well then, we better get packing.”
“YES!” Izuku squealed. He threw himself into his father’s arms and hugged him tightly. “Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!” he cried. He pulled back “Oh my god I have to tell Shouto! What should I bring-”
“Well,” Yagi said “You’ll need your hero outfit. The Expo has some daytime activities and they allow public quirk use on the island so your costume will come in handy. And the Expo is also hosting a formal party so suits are needed as well.
Izuku didn’t own a single suit. “Oh gosh. Do we need to go shopping?”
“I can handle that,” Dad said. “Just start getting yourself packed.”
He didn’t have to tell Izuku twice. He paused only to hug Yagi as well. “Thanks for inviting us!” he said before running out of the room.
He burst into his bedroom, nearly knocking the All Might-themed door plate off. He opened his closet and pulled out his blue All Might luggage. He started to gather up the clothes he’d need for the weekend when his phone began to buzz in his pocket. He pulled it out. Shouto was calling him. Perfect timing.
“Hi Shouchan!” Izuku said “I was just about to call you. I have great news.”
“I do too, actually,” Shouto said through the phone. “Do you have any plans this weekend?”
Izuku’s heart sunk a little “Yeah, I do actually. It’s what my great news is. All Might just invited me and my dad to come with him to I-Expo this weekend.”
“Huh, that’s a coincidence. My father just informed me I was to go to I-Expo and represent him. He’s having to pull out last second for a case. I was calling to ask if you’d want to join me but it sounds like you’re already going to be there.”
The sound that escaped Izuku’s lips was surely so high in pitch that only dogs and small children would be able to hear it. “AAAAH!” he screamed “Shouto that’s so cool! We’re going to I-Island!!! That’s so great oh my god I could die happy.” He felt like dancing “You and me- oh my god we can walk around the expo holding hands and looking at all the cool support equipment- oh! Are you going to the party too?” he asked
Shouto chuckled “I am,” he said.
“We can dance together at the party!” he cried “Ah Shouchan this is too much. I’m so excited! I guess you already have travel plans?”
“Yes, my father is having me take his jet. I imagine you’ll be taking All Might’s. Speaking of... He invited your dad? That seems... Romantic.”
Izuku paused “I mean, he invited both of us. But hey, maybe a little weekend getaway is exactly what they need to push them together. I know they both really like each other. While you and I are off being cute, maybe they’ll find some time to be together and... talk it out. It might help not being in Japan and surrounded by all the League of Villains stuff.”
“I think you’re right. Well, I suppose I should let you get back to packing. Keep in touch with your plans. We’ll find a place to meet up once we get to the island tomorrow.”
“Sounds great. I’ll talk to you in a little bit. Bye,” he said.
“Goodbye,” he said before they hung up.
Izuku cradled the phone to his chest. His heart fluttered. A romantic getaway to I-Island... A little time to relax before things get insane with summer camp and whatever horrible coursework Aizawa would throw their way. He pushed that aside for visions of kissing his boyfriend in front of a lovely island sunset vista. Or the two of them in dashing suits twirling around a sparkling dance floor.
This weekend was going to be great.

Izuku had never been on a plane before. Let alone a private jet. He was vibrating in his seat as the three of them sat around facing each other. Izuku and his dad on one side, with Yagi just across from them. Izuku was pressed to the window, looking down as the ground control. “How long is the flight?” he asked looking up from the window.
“About 3 hours,” Dad said, giving his curls a ruffle. “We’ll be there before lunch.”
Yagi laughed “Yeah don’t worry kid, this’ll be a breeze. Planes are so much more convenient now than when I was in college.”
“Or when I was your age,” Dad said “They used to be so cramped. Of course, I usually flew first class until I got my first jet.”
“Yeah, I guess you guys have been all over the world.” Izuku rubbed the back of his head “The farthest from home I’ve ever been was Tokyo.”
Their personal flight attendant approached them “Your drinks, sirs,” she said handing them each the drink they’d ordered. Izuku took his soda happily as Dad and Yagi clinked together small glasses of wine. “Don’t forget to put your phones in airplane mode. We’ll be taking off in about five minutes.”
Izuku pulled his phone out of his pocket and sent Shouto one more text. His flight wouldn’t be leaving for another hour. “Seems silly he’s on a jet all by himself,” Izuku said “I still think you could have convinced Endeavor to just let him fly with us.”
Dad sighed “Trust me I tried. But Endeavor insisted the flight there was already arranged. He did say we could take him home though.”
“That’s good at least.” He got a reply back from Shouto.
See you later today. <3
He smiled at the little heart, tracing his thumb over the screen. Shouto really was the best. “So Yagi-san,” Izuku said “You said this was a friend of yours from college?”
Yagi blushed, rubbing the back of his neck “Oh yeah. Dave and I go way back.” He smiled. “I actually saved his life. You see...”

Toshinori hummed as he made his way across campus. He looked down at the pamphlet he’d been given. It seemed his new classes were going to be very interesting. This school had a lot of really great programs. And having some time here in the States was really going to help him and his dream.
“Fire!” someone screamed as they ran past him. Toshinori blinked. He turned back to see where the student had just run from. Smoke was rising from one of the buildings.
Toshinori dropped his pamphlet and ran toward the smoke. It was a lab building. Most of the people were outside. All of them staring up at the building as it burned. The firefighters were on the scene. “I think someone is still inside!”
“Dave didn’t make it out!” a man yelled.
He pulled off his jacket “You said your friend was still inside?” Toshinori asked. “Where is he?” The student pointed to the third floor. Right at the window where the smoke was the thickest. He handed his jacket to the student “Hold this. I’ll find your friend.”
“Wait it’s dangerous!”
Toshinori bent at the knees and jumped. He flew through the air and crashed through the window. He landed on his feet. The smoke was thick, already burning his eyes and lungs. He scanned the classroom.
There was a young man on his side. Toshinori grabbed him and hauled him over his shoulder. “Don’t worry,” he said to him. The man seemed to still be conscious. “I am here.” He jumped back out of the building.
It wasn’t until later they met properly.
Toshinori finished talking to the firefighters and the police. He just told them what he’d done, and why. He was about to walk away when someone tapped him on his back.
He turned and was met with a handsome face. The man before him had a sharp jaw, sparkling blue-green eyes, and soft brown hair. He had some soot on his face. “Hi,” he said “I wanted to thank you. For saving me from that building. I really owe you.”
Toshinori shook his head “Don’t worry about it. Saving people is what I do. But I’m glad you’re okay. Had me worried for a moment there.”
“Well, still. Thank you. But please, I want to repay you. I noticed your clothes got pretty burned-”
As the man was talking, the final few threads holding his tank top up snapped. His shirt fell, leaving him bare-chested. The man stopped talking, his eyes on Toshinori’s chest as his face turned bring pink. Toshinori laughed, rubbing the back of his head “Yeah they did get pretty burnt! I’ll have to find the guy I gave my jacket to...”
He seemed to pull himself together “I can make you a costume!” he said “Something that will resist fire and friction!”
“You can make a suit like that?” Toshinori asked. His eyes got wide. He had a hero suit from UA, but it already didn’t fit him. He’d only graduated from High School a few months ago. “I actually could really use one. I’m Yagi Toshinori. I’m an exchange student from Japan. But my hero name is All Might.”
“Oh, an English name. That’s pretty good. You do strike me as pretty ‘All Mighty’,” he laughed. He had a cute laugh. Toshinori leaned in a little more. The man held out his hand “Let me buy you lunch. I can sketch something up for your suit.”
Toshinori smiled “I won’t say no to food. So, you know my name. What’s yours?” He took his hand.
He blushed again. His hand was soft in Toshinori’s “Ah sorry! I’m Dave. David Shield.”

“Well, the rest is history, ya know?” Yagi said.
Dad kept his arms folded. Izuku however felt like he might start foaming at the mouth. “Wait- this friend we’re visiting is David Shield?” He squealed “His inventions are so cool!!! The temperature regulator on Shouto’s outfit is a modified version of something he made for an American hero!!! YAGI-SAN!” he yelled “I’m going to meet David God Damn SHIELD?”
“Language!” Dad scolded.
Izuku was squealing the whole plane ride.

The glass of the window was starting to fog from Izuku’s breath. “Look at it!!!” he said “It’s so big!” He looked away from the window to look at his father only to shove his face back into the window “I think I can see some kind of arena- oh and that’s some kind of music hall! Ah! I can’t wait!”
Dad laughed and patted his back “Don’t worry you’ll get the chance to run wild here pretty soon.”
He pulled his phone out and started taking pictures “Ah everything looks so tiny. It kind of reminds me of like a doll house or a train set.”
Across from them, Yagi returned to his seat. He was wearing his hero outfit, but he was still deflated. “Your turn, Hisashi.”
Dad stood with a grunt “I’ll be right back kiddo. Then it’ll be your turn to change.”
“Yeah okay!” he said, keeping his eyes on the ground. Dad walked away. Izuku looked back at Yagi “Are you going to be alright?”
He smiled “I’ll be just fine. Keeping my muscle form up isn’t too hard. It does drain me for several hours but I don’t anticipate having to fight on I-Island.”
Izuku nodded “Yeah I don’t either. But be sure to find time for breaks okay? Dad and I can help cover for you. Does Mr. Shield know about your condition?”
“Dave does, yes. But he doesn’t know about One for All. I wanted to keep him and his daughter Melissa safe from All for One. The less they know the better. Especially now that we know All for One proper is still alive.”
“Right,” Izuku said. His stomach churned at the thought of All for One. He hoped their paths never crossed. But he was sure they would. “We need to keep them safe...”
Dad returned a moment later. He was wearing his brand-new hero outfit as well. “Get in there kiddo,” Dad said. “We’ll be on the ground soon.”
Izuku stood up “You look great, Dad! I’ll go get changed too!” Izuku grabbed his costume’s briefcase and booked it to the plane’s bathroom.

He was bouncing as they walked through the airport. Izuku was so excited he thought might... Pop. He was going to pop. “Even the airport is so fancy!” he said, looking around.
Dad laughed and put a hand on his shoulder “Yeah it is pretty nice.”
He looked up at his father “I’m so excited. This place is so cool.” He gripped the straps on his backpack. They reached the exit of the airport. He couldn’t help himself, he burst from the airport doors and looked out into the square before them. His eyes grew wide as he looked around at everything.
It was so bright and colorful. The music hall he’d seen from the plane was in full swing, some quirk making colorful music notes rise from it. There was a fountain spitting out different colors of water. A dancer floating around the square. Everyone using their quirks everywhere. It felt like the future in all the best ways.
“Wow,” Dad said. “This is kind of nuts.”
Izuku let out a soft little squeal “I wanna look at everything!”
All Might put a hand on each of their shoulders “We’ll have a chance to explore I’m sure once we-”
“Hey-” A voice in the crowd called. “Isn’t that All Might?”
“ALL MIGHT?”
“All Might I love you!”
Dad grabbed Izuku “I think we should move.” He threw him over his shoulder. “Good luck, All might,” he said.
All Might put his hands on his hips, smiling brightly “I’ve got it from here! This won’t take long.”
The crowd began to swarm All Might. Dad ran out of the way, carrying Izuku with him. Once they were out of the way, he put Izuku down and they watched the sea of people flow around All Might. Izuku laughed as they watched him. “Man, look at him just take it.”
Dad put a hand on his shoulder “It’s the fate of the number one hero. That’ll be you someday, kiddo.”
Izuku grimaced “Think I can get Hagekure-san to trade her invisibility for one of my other quirks?”
That made his father laugh. They stood there together for a few minutes before the crowd finally disbursed. All Might stood alone with his hands on his hips. “That wasn’t too bad!” His face was covered in distinct lip marks.
He and his father approached him again. Dad sighed “Man, you’re covered.” He reached into his pocket and pulled out an alcohol wipe. It must be from his first aid kit. “Here, let me help.” He reached up, getting up on his tiptoes, and started wiping the lipstick off his face.
All Might gave him a soft smile, leaning into his touch “Thank you, Hisashi.”
“Course,” he said “Can’t let you walk around covered in lipstick, now can I?” Dad laughed sweetly.
“I don’t know what I’d do without you.” All Might tilted his head so Dad could get some lipstick off his neck.
Dad laughed “You managed to get by without me for this long. Buuut,” he grinned, “I think you have gone a bit soft. Dependant on a villain.”
“You,” he said, “Hisashi, are not a villain.”
Izuku stood there with his arms crossed, watching them. He tilted his head. “You two done flirting?” he asked.
“Izu, we’re not-” Dad started but cut himself off. There was a soft noise. It was getting closer.
Boing. Boing. Boing!
“Uncle Might!!!” a girl’s voice called. They all turned their heads. Bouncing right up to them on some sort of advanced pogo stick. She was blonde, but moving too much for Izuku to focus. “UNCLE MIGHT!” she cried and jumped off her pogo stick and into his arms.
All Might caught her at once, spinning her around “Melissa!” He laughed “Look at you!” He held her up under her armpits. “You’re so grown up!”
She laughed as he put her down. “It’s been way too long!” she said. She took his hands “It’s so good to see you! Ah, this is exciting. Papa is gonna be so happy to see you! The surprise is all going to plan. He’s still in his lab so he doesn’t have a clue you’re here.”
He smiled brightly “I can’t wait to see his face when he finds out I’m here!” He stopped “Ah before we head over, I want you to meet some friends of mine.” All Might grabbed Izuku and Hisashi, pulling them both in under his arms. “These are two very good friends of mine!” he said. “This is Midoriya Hisashi, and his son, Midoriya Izuku. Young Izuku here is a student of mine at UA. They’re here as my guests.” he looked down at Izuku and Dad “This, is my niece. Melissa Shield.”
Melissa gave them both a sweet smile. She was fairly tall, with long blond hair and big blue eyes. She put her hands behind her back tilting her head “It’s nice to meet you both!” she said. She grabbed Izuku’s hand and shook it.
Izuku felt himself flushing mildly. She was a very pretty girl. “Same to you,” he said.
“So you’re one of Uncle Might’s students?” she asked. “That’s so cool!”
He nodded “Yeah! I go to UA. I’m training to be a hero. Do you go to school here on the island? Your dad is David Sheild so-”
Melissa flushed, rubbing the back of her head “I’m a third year at the High School on the island. It’s a great experience working with so many amazing scientists and inventors.” She grinned “But enough about me! You’re a hero student! Do you have a hero name yet? Most heroes who come to I-Island go by that when they’re here.”
“Ah sure! It’s Deku.”
“Deku eh? Is that what I should call you?”
He grinned “Sure! I mean I’ll have to get used to people calling me that one way or the other.”
Melissa turned to Dad “What about you sir? You’re wearing a hero costume do you have a hero name?”
“Just Mr. Midoriya is fine,” Dad said, holding his hands up. “I have a hero name but I don’t plan on doing much... Heroing.” He pulled at the suit “I’m only wearing this because All Might said I should. So no hero names for me.”
All Might laughed and put a hand on Dad’s shoulder. “Don’t listen to a word Mr. Midoriya says. He’s a true hero, deep down in there.” He let him go “We should get going.”
Melissa smiled “Right! Follow me, I'll take you to Papa’s lab!” She pointed to a high building a few blocks away “He should be finishing up for the day pretty soon. If we hurry we can get the jump on him.”
That made All Might smile “Lead the way, Melissa!” They all followed her.
