Idiot Box: Jewel's Sanity Edition

Summary:

Mittens and Spot buy a brand new giant television just so they can play in the box, and use their imaginations to have fun in there, while testing Jewel's sanity. (#3LFW24)

Notes:

I decided to write this one next because tomorrow, the sequel to Idiot Box, Squidiot Box, airs on Nickelodeon at 5 PM right before the Rock, Paper, Scissors premiere. Enjoy this tale of Lalaloopsies having fun with the imagination box!

Oh, and also, if you're watching the Super Bowl tonight if you're reading this the day I posted it, hope the team you're rooting for wins!

Work Text:

The episode starts off at Crumbs Sugar Cookie's cafe, as a remix of the Star Wars Cantina music played during this intro scene. "Someone help me open this shipment of unbaked cookies," Crumbs announced to her helpers. "Hey Crumbs, how the *dolphin chirp* are ya?" Mittens Fluff 'N' Stuff asked Crumbs. Patch Treasurechest, who was watching from a distance, raised his eyepatch at what Mittens just said. "What did you say?" Crumbs asked. "Well, at least it was censored with a dolphin noise. To keep it, you know, for a 13 and up audience," Mittens answered. "Oh! You're so *dolphin chirp* right!" Crumbs told Mittens. "Exactly! At least this is a fanon Lalaloopsy series. Our show released in 2013, and I'm pretty sure the original audience who first saw this show back when it was released are at least 15 years old now. I gotta throw in some swears to get the teens ready," Mittens explained.

Jewel Sparkles was just relaxing outside after her service at Crumbs' cafe. "What a wonderful day today after my help over at Crumbs' cafe," Jewel said as she was taking her walk outside at the field. Jewel then saw a UPS truck drive by her place. "Wow, my UPS package is here! Finally! I've been waiting all week for that thing!" Jewel said as she saw the UPS truck drive by. Patch Treasurechest, in a UPS uniform, brought Jewel her package. "This package is for Jewel Sparkles, right?" Patch asked as he gave Jewel the package. "Oh, finally! I couldn't remember what I ordered but it's gotta be good," Jewel said as she opened up her package, which ends up being a spray bottle of Crumbs Sugar Cookie Lalaloopsy perfume. "Oh, finally! I can use this to smell good again after Spot keeps sploshing me with mess! I can't freshen myself up with that in Crumbs' cafe as the customers will complain about conflicting flavors, but I can put this on myself now," Jewel said as she started spraying herself with the perfume.

Mango Tiki Wiki, also in a UPS uniform, brought Mittens and Spot Splatter Splash, who was waiting outside with Mittens, their package. "Hey, are you, uh, Mittens Fluff 'N' Stuff?" Mango asked. "Yes, I am," Mittens answered. Mango brought out a clipboard with a paper to sign. "I got a package for you, but first, sign here," Mango told Mittens as she gave her the paper to sign. "By signing here, you're agreeing to sell your soul to postal labor. We have the right to invade your house without warning," the paper that Mango gave Mittens to sign read. Mittens scribbled her signature on the paper after reading the print on it. "All right, here you go, give me my package," Mittens said as she gave Mango back the paper. "Interesting signature you got here," Mango said as she looked at Mittens' scribbles.

"Well since you signed it, it's all yours now. Here you go," Mango said as she handed Mittens and Spot a giant box. "What'd you order?" Jewel asked as she saw the huge box Mango gave them two. "You know what this is, Spot?" Mittens asked. "No?" Spot answered. The two opened the giant box to reveal that they ordered a brand new television. "Look at it, Spot!" Mittens said as she saw the big TV in there. "Whoa," Spot said at the sight of that huge TV. "All right, help me get this thing out! Steady now, we don't wanna ruin it," Mittens said as she and Spot were lifting the TV out ever so gently. "What? A brand new television?" Jewel asked, surprised the two even managed to order one. "All right, nice and easy," Mittens said as the two then threw the TV in the trash. "Mittens! You're just gonna throw away a perfectly fine television like that? I can't believe you, Mittens, I thought you were better than this," Spot told Mittens after she threw the TV in the trash can. "Uh, you're right, what's wrong with me? I should've thrown it in the recycling instead," Mittens said in response as she threw it into the recycling bin. "Uh, girls, you know what's better than recycling? Giving it to me. I'll take that brand new TV off your hands," Jewel told Mittens and Spot as she took the TV from them. "Recycling sounds better to me, but we'll let you have the TV," Spot told Jewel. "Thanks. I'll just be taking this home with me. Lyla in the Loop and Rock Paper Scissors and all that is gonna look good on this TV. I'll be using it to watch Nickelodeon's broadcast of Super Bowl 58 tonight," Jewel said as she was about to go back home with the TV, until she saw Mittens and Spot about to get inside the empty box.

"Isn't this amazing, Spot?" Mittens asked. "Yeah! Let's go in!" Spot answered as the two jumped right in the empty box. "So you girls ordered a brand new television just so you could play in the box?" Jewel asked the two. "Yeah, but this one was a Black Friday deal, Jewel. Don't forget that. The lines were brutal. It was so chaotic," Mittens tried to explain. "Oh yeah, it'll be all fine then, it was a Black Friday deal. Not like you can buy boxes for like three bucks. All right, see you later," Jewel said as she went back to her place to set up the new TV Mittens and Spot gave her. "Time to set up my brand new television set. Can't believe how much of an idiot Mittens is, and especially Spot who always gets some sick gratification from sploshing me, for them just giving me this free TV. Whatever, time to just sit back and relax," Jewel said as she was setting up the television set, sitting down after, then turning it on. The screen showed a "No Signal" error, along with some visible damage on the screen up top as a result of Mittens and Spot's careless handling of it earlier. "It doesn't work? I better call someone to fix this TV," Jewel said as she saw the screen on the TV all damaged.

Back in the cardboard box, Mittens and Spot were both imagining themselves in a castle. "Spot, where are you?" Mittens asked. "Right here, Mittens. We can be and go anywhere we want with our imaginations," Spot answered. "Oh, you're right, that's true. I didn't think about that. So where should we go?" Mittens asked Spot. Before Spot could answer, the two heard a knock on the box, coming from Jewel. "Are you girls still in there? That TV was broken," Jewel asked as she was knocking on the box. "What? Where are we?" Mittens asked as she imagined Jewel's knocks to be the sound of something else. The two looked around the box for a bit as Forest Evergreen popped up holding a can of Mountain Dew Baja Blast. "Wanna Mountain Dew Baja Blast?" Forest asked Mittens and Spot as the two screamed at Forest suddenly popping up in front of them. "Whoa, what is going on in there?" Jewel asked as she went and opened the box to see what is going on. "What are you girls doing?" Jewel asked Mittens and Spot. "Nothing. Uh, we're just in a box," Mittens answered. "What's that noise I just heard?" Jewel asked. "Noise? What are you talking about? There's no noise," Mittens answered. "I heard both of you scream," Jewel told the two. "Nothing happened," Mittens said. "Are you hiding something? Seriously, what's going on between you two?" Jewel asked them. "Earlier a bear was chasing me but it's nothing to worry about. It was such a crazy tale. At least the bear didn't come to eat me. That would've been horrifying," Spot explained.

During this next scene, a MIDI rendition of "Get Lucky" by Daft Punk played. Jewel was imagining Mittens and Spot using a phone to fake Spot's story that she explained. Spot played a grizzly bear sound she found on YouTube on her phone. "Jewel would never know! What a fool," Spot said in Jewel's imagination sequence. "A fool?" Jewel asked as she ran on over to the box Mittens and Spot were playing in and got inside it. "Hey girls, mind if I join you? Where's the phone? Where's the phone? I know you ain't transporting to magic dimensions from a regular box! Where's the phone? Where's the phone? Come on, come on, you can't have me believe this is just some imagination trick," Jewel asked the two as she was scrambling around inside the box. "Calm down there, Jewel, what are you talking about? It's just me and Spot in here. Nothing else," Mittens answered. "Why are you so bored, Jewel? Don't you have a brand new TV to watch?" Spot asked. "It's broken! No one came to fix it! Fine, whatever, I'm going home," Jewel told the two in a tone that clearly shows she's losing her sanity, as she left.

"What's her deal?" Mittens asked Spot. "I don't know," Spot answered. "You know, I actually came up with a scenario that's scarier than getting lost in the woods with a sea bear, that imagination," Mittens told Spot. "Oh no, oh no! Don't tell me you're gonna transport us there now!" Spot said. "I am gonna transport us there now. Ready?" Mittens asked Spot. The two then used their imaginations to transport themselves to Toys R Us. "Uh, where are we? I think dolls of our kind used to be sold here," Spot said as she looked around at Toys R Us. "We're waiting in line at the store where dolls of our kind used to be sold," Mittens answered. "Uh, Mittens, that line is ridiculous. Take me back to the bear, please. Please take me back to the bear," Spot said. "I'm sorry, Spot, this is what my imagination has come to now and unfortunately I can't really change it right now," Mittens told Spot. "Oh, that's ridiculous. Hey, Mittens, I see you up there on that Lalaloopsy display," Spot said as she saw the Lalaloopsy display over there. "Oh, nice. Uh, Spot, no shoes, no service. You're not gonna put on shoes?" Mittens asked Spot as she saw her not wearing shoes. "I figured no shoes is fine. I got my bare soles tickle tortured by my pet zebra when I doused them in a lot of whipped cream two days ago. It tickled like crazy," Spot explained. "I'll just do all the heavy talking, okay?" Mittens asked. "Is that lady in the blue shirt here ever gonna do something? She's not even moving," Spot said as she saw a brunette lady in the image of Toys R Us they're imagining themselves in not even moving. "I don't know, this line's not moving, Spot. Maybe everyone's a zombie, frozen, or something. This is ridiculous," Mittens said, now finally agreeing with what Spot said earlier.

Mittens and Spot both got out of the box. "Well, Spot, you wanna call it a day?" Mittens asked. "Yeah, Mittens, I'm getting kinda tired, let's head back to our places," Spot answered. "All right, let's go back to the box tomorrow," Mittens said as the two left the box and went back to their homes. After they left the scene, it began raining outside, getting the box all wet and soggy. The next day, Mittens and Spot went back to their box from yesterday to see that the box was all wet after it got rained on. "Good morning, box. Box? Box? It got rained on," Mittens said as she saw the now-wet box. "Good morning, Mittens. Good morning, bo... Mittens? What happened to our box?" Spot asked. "It must've got rained on and got destroyed," Mittens answered. "Well, then, if it just got rained on, how is it all bent up and smashed?" Spot asked. "I don't know," Mittens answered. A flashback to earlier of Jewel destroying the box with a hammer was shown. "Take this, you stupid box! Hopefully if I destroy this box they'll order a new TV!" Jewel said as she was destroying the box. The flashback ends as Spot saw a plastic skeleton in the now-destroyed box. "Wait,, why is there a plastic skeleton inside the box?" Spot asked. "I don't know, Spot. Don't worry, we got another package coming in today," Mittens answered. "Can we keep the box?" Spot asked. "Yes, we can keep the box. Whatever's in it is useless anyway," Mittens answered.

A new smaller box was given to Mittens and Spot. "A new box?" Jewel asked the two. "Check it out, Spot!" Mittens said as she pulled out an Oculus Quest from the box. "Let's throw this useless junk over here," Mittens said as she threw out the Oculus Quest box. "Ah, a new box," Mittens said as she and Spot now have a new box to play with. "Whoa, what the heck is this?" Jewel asked as she approached the Oculus Quest. "Garbage," Mittens answered. "Garbage? If this is garbage, then what are you playing in right now?" Jewel asked. "A magical box that transports you to anywhere you wanna be. You can see anything. It's like transporting to another dimension," Mittens answered.

Jewel went back to her place. "All right, let's see here, let's just put this sucker on," Jewel said as she put on her Oculus Quest and went to see all the virtual reality coming towards her eyes. "Whoa! What's going on here? Where am I? This is crazy I'm like transported in a whole new dimension! What is this thing anyway?" Jewel said as she then took the Oculus Quest off after. "It's a box. A magic box that transports you to another dimension. This isn't even real, this is virtual reality. I can do anything I want. I can live my dream come true. My dream would be to help out at Crumbs' cafe while smelling good at the same time," Jewel explained about how the Oculus Quest was working out well for her. Jewel then looked at the games it had to offer. "What's this game right here? Papa's Scooperia? Heck yeah I'm loading it up! I'm playing it right now!" Jewel said as she loaded up Papa's Scooperia and went to go play that.

The scene then cuts to Mittens and Spot imagining themselves in Papa's Scooperia. "Well, Spot, it's a good thing I got a new box," Mittens said. "Yeah, now we can be... home? Where are we?" Spot asked. "Jewel?" Mittens asked as she saw Jewel over there at Papa's Scooperia. "Welcome to Papa's Scooperia. What would you like?" Jewel asked. "Jewel, how are you here? And since when did you get a job here?" Mittens asked. "What do you mean how am I here? This is virtual reality. I can do anything I want. I've always wanted to work at Papa's Scooperia while wearing a new perfume," Jewel answered. "Did you get a magic box yourself?" Mittens asked. "I always knew that," Spot added. "Sure did! Anyways, what would you two like?" Jewel asked. "I'll have a blue moon cookie sundae with regular white whipped cream, strawberry drizzle and a sugarplum," Mittens answered. "I'll have a hokey pokey cookie sundae, with white whipped cream, butterscotch syrup and a salted caramel," Spot added. "Here you go," Jewel said as she served the two Lalaloopsy girls their respective cookie sundaes. "Thanks!" Mittens said as the two started eating up. "Wow, I didn't know of this way to get cookie sundaes before! We should do this more sometime!" Spot said to end the episode off as the three shared laughs.

Notes:

The lady in blue at the Toys R Us image Mittens and Spot imagined themselves in has a name, which I'll reveal later.
