Look What You Made Me Do

Chapter One

“Draco! What did you do!?!” Those were the first words that he heard once the buzzing in his brain faded.

He’d just killed his aunt. The Dark Lord’s second in command. His mother’s sister. Dead.

“You killed her! You fool! The Dark Lord will end us all!” His father screamed as he paled even more than he was, the dark circles under his eyes eyes darkening further.

His mother hugged him tightly. “Take her. Take her and hide.”

“Mother? I, I can’t! I won’t leave you!” He cried out. “He’s going to kill you because of what I did. I’ll stay. You take her and hide.” His mother shook her head.

“Cissa? You would leave me here?” Lucius whimpered. She looked to her son and over at the young witch on the floor then back at her cowering husband. “He’ll find you if he reads my thoughts. I’m too weak.”

“Stupefy!” “Expelliarmus!” The boys from the cellar appeared, stunning the senior Malfoy then turning their wands on Narcissa and Draco once they were disarmed. “Bellatrix is dead?” They both nodded. “But, why? I mean don’t get me wrong, the witch deserved worse but why?”

“I couldn’t let her hurt her anymore.” Draco said weakly as he fell to his knees next to Hermione’s limp figure. “Not Granger.” Draco moved her hair from her face and locked eyes with her. She looked up at him, dazed. “Hey.”

Ron drew his wand and pointed it at Draco. “Get away from her!”

“Ron! Stop!” Harry grabbed ahold of his best friend’s arm.

“Gentleman, we all need to calm down and figure out a plan. The Dark Lord will arrive in a few hours from his lastest trip overseas. When he finds my sister dead, he will kill us all.”

“Mother, father will be a liability. He’s already half dead in the Dark Lord’s eyes.” His mother looked over at her husband.

“We cannot leave him.” She said vehemently.

“We can turn him into The Order.” Ron said. “I know where there is a safe house. I stayed there for a bit when I was gone.” Narcissa nodded. Just then Dobby popped into the room.

“Harry Potter and his friends made st come with Dobby. The others are safe. Dobby has come to take you.”

“Okay, Ron. You take Mr. Malfoy to The Order safe house, and we can meet you at the place Dobby took Luna, Dean, Mr. Olivander and Griphook. You know where.” Ron nodded.

“The elf will need to take him out of the manor first. The wards.” Narcissa explained then Dobby took ahold of the limp form of Lucius Malfoy and Ron’s hand and cracked out.

“Can you walk, Granger?” He asked her softly. She shook her head. “Okay.” He helped her up and Harry rushed over to help. “I’ve got her, Potter.” Harry huffed.

“Yeah, and how do I know you won’t hurt her, huh?”

“Because, my son would never hurt Miss Granger. Not intentionally anyway.” She smiled warmly at the girl currently in her son’s arms.

“Mother, don’t.”

“Not when he is completely enamoured with her.” She smirked and Harry scoffed.

Draco looked down at the young witch in his arms. Hermione looked shocked at his mother’s words. He closed his eyes and sighed. “I, I thought you hated me.” She said in a weak voice.

“I tried to.” He shrugged. “But, you’re just too bloody brilliant and so damn beautiful. I could never hate you, Granger.” She snuggled into his chest and he tightened his hold on her.

Dobby popped back in. “Is Harry Potter ready? Is Mistress and young Malfoy coming?” He watched the two Purebloods warily.

“They are.” He motioned for Narcissa to take his hand. “Dobby will take us. Hold tight.”

They landed on a beach and were greeted by Bill and Fleur Weasley. They helped them into the cottage where Luna and Dean were sitting eating at the kitchen table. Dean stood abruptly and brought an arm around Luna protectively. “What are they doing here?” Luna patted his hand.

“It will be fine, Dean. Mrs. Malfoy won’t hurt anyone. She’s here of her own free will with good intentions.” She said in her dreamy soft voice. Dean watched them fully enter when he noticed Draco was holding Hermione.

“Is she alive?” The young wizard asked with a shaky voice nodding towards an exhausted Hermione.

“Yes, just weakened. I stopped my aunt before she could do any lasting damage.” Fleur came in and gestured for him to follow her.

“He killed his aunt.” Harry announced to the room. “It wasn’t Avada because there was a lot of blood.”

“It was a spell I had never heard before. All I know is that she bled out and is dead.” Narcissus said as she accepted a cup of tea from Luna. Harry was sure he knew the spell; I mean, he did almost kill the blonde hit with it last year. “Is Mr. Olivander resting? I tried bringing him a pain potion last night but Bella wouldn’t let me out of her sight. She had been watching me and Draco since he came home for holiday break.” She sat down and took a fortifying sip. “I had made an unbreakable vow with Severus. I knew my son couldn’t complete the task that the Dark Lord set up. He’s too good, my Draco. My son confided in me. He always had a special bond with me. He was scared and knew he could never be like his father and aunt. He’s been in love with the Granger girl since their third year. He’s been sick with worry knowing she was out on the run and being hunted. When we were called downstairs to the drawing room this morning and he saw her there, I had to hold him up. I was trying to figure out a way to create a diversion but then the Sword of Gryffindor was found in Miss Granger’s bag and all hell broke loose.”

She placed her head in her hands. Everyone listened with rapt attention, some with incredulous looks upon their faces. “Then Bella used the torture curse on her. The screams, oh, they were just awful. Bella was unhinged, I saw her draw her cursed dagger and then Draco shot that curse at her as she reached for Miss Granger.” She sobbed into her hands, and Luna brought her a handkerchief. “Thanks love.” Fleur returned to the kitchen.

“‘Ermione eez sleeping. Draco wanted to stay. I ‘ope zat eez okay.” Harry got up and walked towards the doorway.

“I am going to check in on her. I know that you said he won’t hurt her, but I need to see for myself. She’s my sister in every way but blood.” Narcissa nodded in understanding. “When Ron gets back, can you fill him in? Oh, and Dobby?”

“Yes?” His big, bulbous green eyes were bright and he grinned.

“Thank you for saving us.”

The pride on his face spoke volumes.

Draco held onto Hermione’s hand as he watched her sleep. He couldn’t believe that he was here with her. He had killed his aunt for hurting the woman he loved. “You really do love her, don’t you?” Harry startled him slightly.

“More than anything.” He said simply not taking his eyes off of her prone form.

“I still don’t know if I can trust you.” Harry stepped further into the room and closed the door. “I love her too, you know.” Draco paled then sighed.

“Well, then that’s that.” Draco stood up in resignation. “I’ve no chance against The Chosen One.”

“Not like you, Merlin, no. She’s like my sister. She is my best friend.” Draco smirked then sat back down, taking Hermione’s hand once more.  “But Ron is in love with her too. And I think she may feel the same for him so don’t get too attached.” Harry chuckled when Draco turned practically green.

Like he was summoned by Harry saying his name, Ron appeared through the door. “How is Mione doing, Harry?” The redhead saw the way Draco was holding her hand and lost it. “Get your filthy fucking hands off of her, you arsehole!” His outburst waking Hermione.

“Ronald, for the love of Morgana. Enough of the screeching.” She mumbled weakly.

Draco dropped to his knees at her bedside, his grip on her hand remaining. “How are you feeling, Granger?” She looked around the room then settled her eyes on him.

Squeezing his hand, she spoke, “Tired and a bit sore. You saved me.” She smiled softly at him and he blushed.

“What the bloody hell is going on here? ‘Mione?” Ron looked at her with his puppy eyes. “Why is he here? He shouldn’t be allowed near you. His precious aunt did this to you!” He spat the last words with such venom that she flinched.

“Maybe stop being such an arse, Weasley. Did they not tell you downstairs that Granger needs to rest? And I’m not fucking leaving as long as she’s comfortable with me being here. So back off.” Draco stood and blocked the view of Hermione from Ron causing the redhead to become even more upset.

“She can speak for herself. I’m not going anywhere either, you disgusting Death Eater fuck!” Draco moved towards Ron and Harry got in between them.

“Stop it! Argh!”  They all turned to see Hermione bent over in pain.

“Granger!” “Mione!” They all rushed towards her.

“Out! All of you!” They all stiffened at the mother in the doorway. “I will attend to Miss Granger since you hooligans cannot be civil towards each other! Now, go! See if you can be helpful towards Mr and Mrs Weasley downstairs.” Narcissa Malfoy pointed them all towards the door and watched as they all marched out.

“Mum and dad are here?” Ron asked quietly.

“She means Bill and Fleur, Ron.” Harry mumbled as he pushed his best mate through the doorway. “Sorry, Mrs. Malfoy.”

“Mother? Can’t I stay?” Draco pleaded.

“You can see her later.” She patted his hand and smiled softly at him. He nodded then looked at Hermione watching them.

“Wait!” He jogged back to her bedside. “I just. I wanted to. Ugh.” He rubbed the back of his neck then mumbled quickly, “fuck it.” And swooped down to place a quick kiss to her cheek. Pulling away he saw her eyes blown wide in shock. “I’ll see you later, Granger.” Then he smiled, looking dazedly as he walked away with his head held high.

Narcissa shut the door slowly, calling out to her son, “We’ll talk about that later, my Dragon.” He gulped then nodded, rushing down the stairs. When she turned around to face the young witch on the bed, she smiled. “I apologize for my son. Sometimes he lets his emotions guide him before thinking things through. He should have asked for your permission before stealing a kiss.”

Hermione huffed a laugh, “That was surprising.” Narcissa sat on the chair her son had previously occupied.

“Surprising?”

“Yes. I was not expecting him to actually do that. I’m still a bit confused. I always thought that he hated me. Hated, my kind.” She pulled at a loose thread on her shirt, staring down.

“Oh, sweet girl.” Narcissa tipped Hermione’s face up to look at her. “That boy has been talking about you since first year. Granger this, and Granger that. ‘She’s brilliant mum!’ ‘Potter’s gonna get her hurt again, mum!’ ‘I wish she would look my way.’ Oh, his most devastating year was second year after he called you, well, you know what he did. ‘She will hate me forever now, mum.’ And don’t get me started on the Yule Ball. He whinged about that Krum the entire holiday and beyond.” She chuckled.

“Ron. He wants to be with me. It’s what everyone expects.” Hermione sighed. “And I love Ron, I do, but after he left me and Harry, I know now that he isn’t who I want for myself.” Narcissa smirked, thinking she knew what the Muggleborn was about to say. “And Malfoy? I’m sorry, I know he’s your son and you say he likes me or whatever, but I just don’t know. I have a hard time believing that he would ever want me.”

Well, this was not going to be as easy as she had hoped.

“I know I’m good looking, Weasley, but the staring is starting to make me uncomfortable.” Harry rolled his eyes. They’d been at it for an hour now. Bickering over anything and everything. Currently Ron was doing his best attempt at trying to murder the Slytherin by simply glaring at him.

“You slimy snake. Like I would ever want to look at you for any reason other than attempting to murder you will my mind!” Ron screeched as he lunged toward the blonde wizard. Luckily Bill had entered the room just in time and grabbed Ron and hauled him out of the house. He could be heard yelling at his younger brother and telling him to ‘take a walk and cool down!’ before he re-entered the kitchen.

“Malfoy, I got word from The Order that your father is recovering in the safe house. They’ve put him under a magical sedation to help heal some internal wounds that they found during the diagnostic. Fleur went up to notify your mum.” Draco nodded, then thanked the oldest Weasley sibling.

“We are going to need to figure out a way to get into Gringott’s, Bill. I believe that one of the items we need are in the LeStrange vault.” Draco laughed and Bill groaned. “What?”

“Potter, you must be barking if you think you can sneak into Gringott’s! And let alone if you succeed, there’s no damn way that you’re getting into my aunt’s vault. She’s dead. I killed her. Unless you can find a way to Polyjuice yourself into Rodolphus, you’re shit out of luck.” Draco drawled out in his poshest tone.

“I’d have to agree with Malfoy, Harry. Even if I could get you in there, which I can’t, there’s no way of getting into the LeStrange vault without imitating Rodolphus LeStrange or imperiousing the whole team of goblins there. It’s impossible.” Bill clapped Harry on the shoulder. “I’m sorry. I know you need to do whatever it is Dumbledore set you out to do, but it’s just not possible.”

Harry worried at his lip before suddenly smirking devilishly. “That’s it!” He turned to Draco. “Malfoy? Do you know how to get to your aunt’s husband? Your Uncle Rodolphus?”

Draco nodded. “If he’s not on a mission or at home, he’s always at this shady bar in Knockturn Alley with one of the whores there. Why?”

“Because, I’m going to confund him then imperious him to go to the vault and get what I need.” Bill started shaking his head.

“No, absolutely not happening. Any way, you’d need to be with him because of The Thief’s Downfall.” Bill explained.

“I will be there. I’ll use my Invisibility Cloak.” Bill still looked uneasy and shook his head once more.

“And if something happens, you’re all alone and going to get captured or worse. I can’t leave. We haven’t said anything yet, but Fleur is pregnant. I cannot risk my life. I’m doing enough just using our home as a safe house.”

“I’ll go.”

Harry turned his head sharply and looked at Draco.

“He’s my uncle. I could be a distraction for you to be able to get him alone.” Draco didn’t know why he had spoken up. Maybe it was because of the guilt he still had for his part in Dumbledore’s death or maybe he just wanted this war to be over. And maybe he wanted to be the hero for once; someone worthy of Hermione’s love and respect.

“Okay. But in a few days time. We need to plan this and go over any and every possible scenario. Hermione can help us. Ron too.” Draco scoffed at the mention of Ron. “I know you don’t like each other but he is a great strategist. I need his way of thinking.” Draco sighed then turned his attention out the window where he could see Ron pacing around.

“Fine. But if he starts anything, I’m transfiguring him into a gerbil.” Alm they could do was laugh then.

Hermione was feeling much better after resting and two doses of pain potions. Narcissus and Fleur worked together and got her up by dinner time to eat with everyone. As soon as her feet touched the ground floor, Draco and Ron rushed over to help accompany her to the dining room.

“Back off, boys. She’s perfectly capable of walking herself.” Narcissa reprimanded both young wizards.

“Sorry mum.” Draco said sheepishly before smiling softly at Hermione . “You look so much better, Granger. If you need anything just let me know.”

“I’m her best friend. She can let me know.” Ron said as he tried elbowing Draco out of the way.

“I’m fine. Really. You can both just sit at the table.” Hermione giggled. Was this actually happening. Two boys fighting over her? In the middle of a damn war?” Ron sat back down next to Harry, leaving an open spot in Harry’s other side. Dean and Luna came back inside, holding hands and took there seats. Draco helped seat his mother, leaving a spot open for him and another person. He looked up, hopeful that she would decide to sit next to him. As she went to head towards the seat next to Harry, Mr. Olivander plopped down in it, so she changed direction to the spot next to Draco and his mother.

“Allow me, Granger.” Draco smoothly pulled her chair out for her. Ron could be heard mumbling, ‘Slimy pratty ferret’ under his breath causing Harry to chuckle and Hermione to glare at him before she smiled softly at Draco.

“Thanks, Malfoy.” He preened at her thanks causing her to roll her eyes then giggle to herself. Small talk broke out around the table among the others. Hermione could tell Ron has discussing something with Harry that was making him uncomfortable.

Luna and Dean were talking to Mr. Ollivander. He was looking healthier and was chuckling at something Dean had just said. Bill and Fleur were so in love. Now that they had a little one on the way, they seemed even happier than ever; even during a war.

“Um, Granger?”

Hermione looked over to see Draco and his mother looking at her. “I’m sorry, what? Did you say something?”

He smiled and shook his head. “Your mind really doesn’t shut off, does it?” He nudged her leg with his own. “Mum was asking if you wanted some water or tea?”

“Oh, Mrs. Malfoy, my apologies. Water is fine. Thank you so much.” She answered awkwardly. “This is so surreal. I am eating dinner at the Weasley cottage next to Draco Malfoy and he is being nice to me? So weird.”

“You forgot the part where he also has a huge crush on you and thinks he’s in love with you.”

“Mother, please.” Draco carded his hand through his hair then snuck a look at a blushing Hermione. “Sorry about her. She’s been imagining our future children already.” That caused her to choke on her drink. He placed his hand on her back and rubbed it soothingly.

“Hands off, Malfoy!” Ron stood from his chair, causing it to clatter to the floor.

“Ronald, stop. It’s fine.” Hermione pleaded, her eyes closing briefly as he made a noise of indignation.

“You’re kidding me, right? Him? You’re choosing him? Over me? A dirty Death Eater? That’s just great, ‘Mione! Just great! I cannot believe I came back for you!” He ran out from the house.

Hermione went to stand but Draco grabbed her hand. Harry stood up then, sighing. “I’ll go talk to him.” He left the room and could be heard yelling for his friend. Hermione sat back down.

It was then she noticed, Draco was still holding her hand, and she really liked how it felt. He placed their joined hands on his knee and rubbed her hand lightly with his thumb as he continued eating and conversing with everyone still at the table like it was something he did every pday. She noticed Narcissa smiling at them and blushed.

Harry and Ron did not return so Fleur placed their plates under a stasis charm. Everyone else had tea and biscuits around the fire. Luna, Dean, and Draco played a few games of Exploding Snap. Dean and Luna seemed to have become close when being held at Malfoy Manor. They were very touchy feely and apparently sharing a bed.

“Well, I don’t know about anyone else but we are pooped. Gonna head up to our room. Goodnight.” Bill took his wife’s hand.

“Yez, goodnight.” Fleur trilled.

Dean got up too. “I’m going to help Mr. O up the stairs. Luna?” She looked up at him with bright eyes. “Want me to come back down?”

She shook her head. “I’ll follow you up.” He put his hand out and she took it. Wrapping his arm around her waist, he kissed her temple. All three of them said goodnight as they left Hermione and Draco in the living room sitting by the fire. Narcissa had gone up an hour ago, stating exhaustion.

“So.”

“So.”

“You and Weasley? There something there?” Draco asked as nonchalantly as he could.

Hermione shrugged. “I used to think so but…”

“But?” He urged.

“He left. He left us alone for six weeks because he got jealous of my and Harry’s relationship. He thought we were doing things behind his back.  He got mad one night and had it out with Harry and left us. After that, I can never really see myself with someone that cuts out when things get too rough, you know.”

Draco inwardly was freaking out and dancing like a crazy person. “Damn, I can’t believe he would do that. If I ever had the chance, I’d never let you go.” He reached out for her hand and pulled her closer to him. “Granger, my mum was not lying. I have been in love with you since we were kids. And I know I fucked up a lot, but I’m just asking you to just give this,” he pulled her even closer until he was able to brush a wayward curl behind her ear, “a chance.”

He saw her give him an also imperceptible nod. He smiled and looked into her amber eyes. “Malfoy?” He hmm’d at her. She leaned her forehead against his, then he brushed his nose against hers.

“Gods, I want to kiss you so badly.” He whispered against her lips before she surged forward and did just that.

“What the fuck is going on here!”
