Chapter Text
If someone told me I could have changed my destiny. As a materialist I would have politely declined.
Although it would be funny to use the excuse that my grandmother taught me:
"I'm sorry. But I think trying to change destiny will only bring bad luck.”
No matter how many derogatory thoughts I had in my mind, I would never let anyone know. To be educated. No swear words. And lies to make others feel good.
People value appearances. In the world of entertainment the most important thing is reputation.
My whole family expected that of me. As the oldest daughter, be the example. Before I realized what it really meant to make my parents proud. I was forced to take the path that my mother could not follow.
"She is so beautiful. As expected, she is identical to her mother.”
“His voice is like angels. “Ariana, your daughter can undoubtedly achieve stardom.”
“It is an honor that someone as talented as you debuts in our agency.”
“You are just one more step away. Don’t feel nervous.”
The day when my voice reaches the whole world.
Mother wait for me. I will make even the heavens hear my name, so that wherever you are you will feel proud of me.
Even if I have to make a pact with the devil to change my destiny.
Only then will I be free.
I don't know how long I've been walking. Accompanied by the echoes of my steps and my heavy breathing.
I don't even know how I ended up here in the first place. Along a dirt tunnel, seeing the points of light that seemed to want to take me somewhere.
I stumbled for the fifth time leaning against the wall to rest. The good thing is that the pain from my injuries was less. I laughed, holding back the urge to cry.
I resumed my course at a leisurely pace, trying to soften my breathing as much as I could to avoid pain in my lungs. Each breath made my chest burn like a harsh reminder of the illness I suffered.
1 minute . . . 10 minutes . . . 30 minutes . . . 60 minutes
And it starts again.
Finally I fell again. But I can't find the strength to get back up.
The shopping bag I had stubbornly dragged with me relieved me a little. At least he wouldn't starve. Consider taking some pain pills again before refusing. A high dose would have a negative effect on my body.
-Come on. Get up. You still have a couple of years left. . . You can't fall here yet.
Under my blurry gaze the lights around me gathered together, forming a larger wave of light. The ball came closer and I felt warm. Instinctively I wanted to move away so as not to get burned.
A woman's cold voice came out of the sphere. I was stunned for a few seconds to process what she wanted to say. I didn't understand her at all. An unknown language that she was sure she had never heard before.
Maybe he was just hallucinating.
It was seconds with the strange voice when a ball rolled in front of me. It looked like it was made of metal, yet I didn't touch it for fear that my curiosity would kill me. . . In the hypothetical case that it was a bomb.
As I finished waiting, the ball rolled towards my head. To protect myself I had no choice but to touch the ball and move it away. But even with the simple touch, the ball shone and finally the constant incompressible words began to make sense.
The strength miraculously returned to my body. After standing up, I walked away cautiously.
“You can understand me now girl. If you had taken a little longer I wouldn't mind having abandoned you. . .”
-Hey, you know where I am. I don't know how I got here, but if you could tell me how to get out of here I'll make it up to you.
My voice came out hoarse. But the chatter of the sphere is over. He moved a little closer as if to look intimidating and his voice became more dignified.
“Everyone who came here before had one wish. What's yours?"
It was kind of fun.
- I want to change my destiny.
“Then reach the top of the tower.”
- How do I get to the tower?
“Just walk through the door in front of you. “Everything you want you will find at the top of the tower.”
At some point a door had appeared. With one look I concluded that I couldn't open it by normal means. There wasn't even a lock or key. There was also no opening through which he could pass.
Where was it? At the Zoldick family evidence gate? Ha. . . ha. . . That stone gate was as big as a two-story building. There was no way he had the strength to push her.
Still, it was pass or die.
-I've already arrived here. It would be sad if I left when the exit is so close. – Even with bloody hands, I touched the cold stone surface and gathered all the strength I could muster, but the only thing I managed to do was worsen the wounds on my hands.
The beautiful skin that my mother was proud of was bruised and will possibly have an ugly scar in the future. I guess I should be grateful that I can't see the rest of my body. I tried again and again. As the minutes passed, the lights dimmed, making it difficult for me to breathe, it made me think of being in a completely closed place and in the middle of the darkness.
With tears streaming down my face I made every effort. Even using my whole body. The glowing sphere returned from time to time staring at my futile efforts.
“You will die if you continue.”
-But if I don't do anything I will also die. . . I am very afraid of death.
“Then I will pity you. I will open the door for you, in return you will have to do something for me.”
- . . .What are you? . . .The devil?
“You could think of it like that. “You are willing to make a deal with the devil for the chance to change your destiny.”
-. . . ha . . ha . . . Do you still have to ask?
“Welcome to the tower Miss Giselle.”
