Work Text:
Night came quickly when they were around each other.
Before them, Yu Yang stared intently at the dark skies, as well as the swift movements of clouds that skate gently across his vision. But what fascinated him were those brilliant pearls of the nighttime that sit as if cushioned upon pure black velvet, peering back at him gently.
"The stars are beautiful, huh..." Yu Yang pointed out, his gaze shining as he laid in a carefree position on Li Huan's lap. It felt quiet and peaceful, at this position he had scouted out for them. They could easily see the wondrous city lights if they were to stand, but sitting down here like this granted them a generous view of the sky.
"Yeah..."
"Pfft, what are you looking at?" He laughed upon seeing Li Huan's very intense gaze concentrated on him.
"Your smile."
"You're so cute." He wasn't sure if it was because they saw each other less now, especially with how busy he had been ever since he started working. Whatever the reason, Li Huan was way more sappy nowadays, and he couldn't say he hated it.
Or maybe it's Wang Wang putting all these ideas in his head again... that thought made him lament for a moment.
His face warmed at the feeling of the other stroking his hair gently, and instinctively he leaned against it.
To be honest, Yu Yang could never imagine he would be able to feel this happy.
How did everything manage to fall in place like this? Just a while back, he's this nice upperclassman putting on a façade, hiding his insecurities behind a happy mask. And now, he didn't even need to worry about his parents being unsupportive anymore. He had a bunch of close friends he could trust, and a boyfriend that was terribly sweet towards him.
"It's nice, like this." To feel Li Huan pressed against him - his warmth, and his scent that Yu Yang grew to love so much... It was almost absurd how easily he calmed down in the presence of the other.
Yu Yang panned his gaze out to the sky again, feeling a sort of heavy emotion seizing him up. His smile faded slowly.
"Hey..." He begun, suddenly deep in thought. Time went by way too fast. They were students in the same school once, and now he's to leave it all behind. He felt a little afraid, even. The thought of growing up - would any of them change in the future?
"Do you think, that we would grow apart after time has passed?"
Just the thought of it made him want to grip his shirt tighter. He had never wanted to think about this... But these thoughts would barge in and take over his mind sometimes, and he couldn't help but vocalize it.
"I mean... We'll both have to work." Yu Yang sat up straighter, turning towards him. "We probably won't have a lot of time on our hands, just as we did back in school."
"That is true." Li Huan hummed.
Yu Yang could practically feel his heart freeze, his chest tightening up so much it was hard to breathe.
"But," Hands gently wrapped around him, holding him close. He could clearly feel Li Huan pressing his entire body on him, just as he always had when they hugged, his head resting on Yu Yang's shoulder. "Even if I were to forget, I wouldn't forget to come back to you. And even if I was tired, I'll still find the time to kiss you."
His eyes widened.
"If one day I were to forget how to speak the words I'm telling you now - " Yu Yang's hands were gently gathered together, and Li Huan pressed it to his chest, "Then surely, my heart will tell you."
Ba-dump
Ba-dump
Yu Yang's entire face flushed, and he drew his hands away, unsure of whether the racing heartbeat he'd heard was Li Huan's or his own.
"We might be different years later from now. But I promise that I will only want you."
The taller gently navigated closer, booping his nose at his own, before experimentally kissing him. Their mouths pressed together easily, and Yu Yang smiled shakily, hugging him tight.
His embrace was quickly returned with the same exact one he'd felt before. The giant, almost crushing hug, highlighting Li Huan's physique as he towered over him.
"Mm." He answered, gaze slightly melancholic as he let go and went back to look at the stars. A little bit of stray wind caressed his cheek, causing his hair to flutter.
They'd continue to make a lot of memories from now on.
From the school, to work. He's sure there's a lot of places that they would go to.
And of course he wouldn't know what kind of circumstances await them, or what kind of people they'd become.
But as long as he's there, with his stupidly endearing hugs, it's enough.
