Chapter Text
Regulus black was named after a star, which was ironic since he died like one too. Regulus blacks light faded years before anyone truly saw him die. Which nobody did, only rumors and whispers of the once feared death eater.
He sat above a meadow, forget me nots blooming in the spring air. His location was unknown to him, he choose this spot purely because he wanted beauty to exist in a world where he had never known it. Happiness was beautiful too if only he knew that lovely fate. The meadow was somewhere in Switzerland, he knew this much, it had tall gangly trees twisting and turning almost confused about their end destination. It had daisies and buttercups yellow amongst a sea of lilac. He found comfort in knowing that it would be over soon but a nervous energy roamed his body against his will. This meadow was in the middle of a small forest he had accidentally apparted their after vomiting when his mask fell driven disgusted by his previous acts, and he had made peace with this spot, it provided him more comfort then his house had more comfort then his parents company could ever. When around them he was tiptoeing on broken glass, always hurt by the end of their interactions. His friends they provided him comfort but he could never accept it willingly since the first safe person, the first person he ever loved, who ever cared for him left. Or maybe he drove him away?
He knew from eleven his brother had found home, safety, comfort. He could never provide him that. His parents wouldn't have let both of them leave the cage of a house. So he choose his brothers happiness over his own, Sirius had always protected him and now it was his turn. They both got hurt in the process, but it was worth it. It was worth it to see the smiles that lit up his face, too hear him laugh again, not a small chuckle, even though this time it wasn't him making Sirius laugh. It was worth it, or so he himself.
He had always known he was going to die, everybody does. But form a young age he wanted out and if there was no other way he would die, he had accepted this truth long before others told him. The sorting hat, telling him how his intellect could be valued in Ravenclaw, his kindness valued in Hufflepuff, or his bravery valued in Gryffindor, yet he was a coward and picked death itself, Slytherin. "If continue on this path be warned death is after you". He had nodded and told the hat he needed to take this path. Then was Pandora, who had visons of a dark future for him, she had whispered sadly "hands will drag you to death". Next was his brother who hadn't spoken to him in about a year, had yelled at him around third year "your going to end up just like them, basically a corpse living already, do you really want to end up dead Reggie cause that's what you'll be under this leadership another mindless soldier to kill for fun?" He had left soon after.
Turns out death wanted him sooner than expected but he would sacrifice himself, for Sirius, for his friends, for a better future.
He pulled doubt his wand and cast his patronus, it was a kitten dipped into the darkest of colours and given too beady looking eyes to contrast amongst the fur. "To Sirius" .. he started.
