Love Comes with Blood (the re-up)

Summary:

There is a nasty vampire on the loose! Set in the late 1800s, Arthur Kirkland, a vampire hunter, is summoned to a small village in England to victoriously deal with the beast! Except...he hasn't ever actually defeated a vampire before. As he embarks on his journey, something goes awry and a whole new world opens in front of his very eyes. Everything that he learned as a sorcerer is turned upside down, and he must learn how to live in this vast new world.

A revised and new version of my previous work "Love Comes with Blood."

Notes:

Hello! It has been some time, hasn't it? If you have read any of my old work before, you may recognize this story. It was something I was working on nearly ten years ago and I, unfortunately, ended up abandoning it because it turned into something else that I did not enjoy anymore.

Typically, I don't return and revise old stories of mine. But for some reason, back in 2022, I had this urge to rewrite and revise this story. Instead of being too hasty and posting the story while I was working on it (which normally causes me to feel rushed and burnout), I decided to force myself to finish the story in full so that I could one day post it.

Because this is a revised work, the beginning of this may feel familiar to the older version if you read it once before. But I assure you, it takes a different route. I hope this version is much more intense and intriguing than the old version ever was.

Thank you for reading!

Chapter 1: Prologue

Chapter Text

Everyone holds onto fear. Fear is simple. Fear is paralyzing. Fear is inevitable. Humans live off of fear, and monsters feed off of that fear. Fear is life.

But, after all, there lies a deeper fear within our hearts, a fear that we all choose to ignore. The fear isn’t of the beast lurking in the darkest corners, waiting for its next victim. The fear is not fear that the beast will destroy the world. Our deepest and darkest fear is that our fear will turn us into what we fear the most.

The beast that truly exists within our souls.
