Chapter Text
I thought I saw the devil this morning
Looking in the mirror
Drop of rum on my tongue
With a warning to see myself clearer
Sanemi stood over Genya’s howl of pain as he clutched his right eye. Blood dripped from Sanemi’s fingernails and onto his own estate porch which he knew would be permanently stained there, no matter how hard he would try to clean them off.
“Aniki!!” He heard Genya scream. His one eye wild with fear and confusion after Tanjiro knocked into him to save him from getting his other eye cut.
“How dare you say that to Genya?!” Tanjiro yelled, and Sanemi so badly wanted to strangle him.
He hated this. He hated how Tanjiro was giving Genya hope. He hated that Genya was in the corps in the first place. He hated demons. He hated it so so much.
He hated himself too, for nearly blinding both his little brother’s eyes.
I never meant to start a fire
I never meant to make you bleed
How dare he?! How dare he try to do something so horrible?
He was supposed to protect Genya. Protect his little brother . That’s why he was born .
If he blinded his brother, then he was worse than their own father.
Their father at least left, and whatever bruises he inflicted on his family had healed with time, if not with a little scarring.
This was permanent .
Sanemi had blinded his brother. Forever .
I'll be good, I'll be good
And I'll love the world, like I should
Yeah, I'll be good, I'll be good
For all of the times that I never could
How could he be good when he was the worst big brother in the world?
