Chapter Text
"Are you serious?" Eddie Brock mumbles to himself with his back to the mirror. "Are the fishnets really necessary?" he shouts to his coworker, Tomas, outside the door.
"No," he laughs, "Greg is just being gross again. At least it's cheap work," Tomas replies through his thick accent.
"I guess so," Eddie sighs. That's easy for a guy like him to say. Eddie assembles the rest of his get-up and takes a quick glance in the mirror. He didn't like to look any longer.
It was a boring Wednesday night with only a couple of clients and an inevitable creepy compliment from Eddie's boss, Greg. Just like all the times before, he brushes it off and goes home where his fiancée was already in bed asleep. The two had a particularly nasty fight the night before, so Eddie opts to pass out on the couch. This is fucking miserable. What am I doing with my life?

"I have a lot of tests to run today so you'd better cooperate. I can always leave you in your chamber," Carlton Drake threatens under his breath before continuing to hold a fake phonecall.
I do not like the chamber. The symbiote echoes in his host's mind, images of fear, pain, and hunger appearing rapidly.
"I don't care what you like," he speaks louder and then hushes himself, "I brought you to this planet, and you will listen to me. I'm the reason you're even alive."
Venom remains quiet, dreading what is soon to come. It wasn't often he spoke to his host as he was usually threatened or hushed when he tried. On the quiet walk to the Life Foundation, an employee of Drake's crashes into them. The curses and insults fly from the host's mouth.
"Last time I checked, I hired people who know how to fucking walk! Are you too stupid to look where you're going!?" He shouts into the employee's face.
"I'm sorry, sir, I-" she rushes through her words, "I should've been paying more attention, I'm-"
"Venom! Take care of her," Drake growls. Reluctantly, Venom takes form, towering over the now sobbing employee.
"No, please! Wait! I'm sorry!" she begs, stumbling as she backs away. Venom gently grabs her by her upper arms.
"I'm sorry, doctor," Venom apologizes before biting the woman's head off. His host's cruel laughter echoes through his mind.
She was deadweight anyway, Venom. You did everyone a favor. Drake's laughter subsides. Venom silently retreats back inside his host. He is beginning to see reason in his peers' parasitic approach to humans.
Humans are cruel. Venom relents and tunes out his host's reprimands. He prepares for a long night of testing.
