Chapter 1: Chapter 1

Chapter Text

Kanako never imagined in her life that she would ever have to do something like this.

She started out well, being an excellent student and an even better daughter, but everything took a turn for the worse in middle school.

At some point in middle school, Kanako was bullied.

It wasn't that noticeable at first, just sarcastic remarks and some paper balls full of bad names about her, so Kanako refrained from talking about it.

Then it got worse, Kanako had to come back late so her parents wouldn't see her injuries, and she would even sneak out sometimes.

When her mother noticed this, Kanako faced a lot of criticism from them about why she did not stand up for herself.

Did they know enough about what she endured? Did they put themselves in her place while talking?

No, maybe they were just talking out of guilt, they didn't really mean it, and they were just trying to do anything to avoid ending up like her brother.

Adults are always like this, sometimes they take out their negative energy and frustration from bearing responsibilities on people younger than them, but that was not really conscious.

Or maybe they just avoided thinking about it and knew what they were doing.

Like any normal parents, he took her parents to the principal's office the next day and talked about it.

The student who was responsible for the biggest injuries was summoned along with his parents, and Kanako was there as well.

“I think the matter should be resolved in the most peaceful way.” The principal smiled at the child's parents and then looked at her parents, expecting to receive a positive response.

"What do you mean by a peaceful solution?! My daughter has been beaten for a long time!" Her father slammed his fist on the table angrily.

Kanako shuddered and took refuge in her mother's arms, who kissed her tenderly.

Kanako had never seen her father angry like that, he had always been happy and calm for a long time in her life, at least he never let her see his bad side.

“Calm down Mr. Sato, I don't mean anything, all I'm saying is that maybe this is in the genes.” The director looked at her father's hand on the desk with a sarcastic smile.

Kanako froze as she thought about what he meant, she understood.

He was saying that her father was the one who beat her, he was saying that she looked exactly like her brother.

The matter ended with a big uproar, as her father threatened that if an appropriate punishment was not put in place for the child, he would sue him.

And he really did, he was a lawyer after all and had knowledge in this kind of thing.

However, the child's parents were rich and easily managed to get out of the situation, and the case only ended with bad results on Kanako's part.

Her father would come home in a bad mood, her mother would be depressed all day, and Kanako felt guilty.

Her father had already taken her out of school, and had decided that they would make a fresh start as a family.

Well, Kanako has a fresh start but not her parents.

It turns out that a distant cousin on her mother's side was the vice principal of a good school, and she offered to recommend Kanako.

Grades were not an issue, Kanako spent a lot of time revising and studying, except for the time she spent in dance and piano lessons.

Kanako lived the life of a princess, one of her classmates said before all of this happened.

A beautiful girl with flowing black hair with a good temperament and beautiful talents, Kanako was not lacking for anything.

But Kanako knew better, such an definition could not be attributed even to her mother, a quiet woman who had her faults as well.

Like her mother and everyone else in the world, Kanako also had flaws. She was obsessed with horror movies and anything with a psychological rating.

Her mother said it was a nice thing, and it would give her more job options in the future.

For a moment, Kanako wondered what she would become in the future. She hoped that she would become the best version of herself.

 maybe.
