Chapter Text

It was that time of the year again. The time where idols competed for the number one spot in the Meteor Season rankings.

During this time the top ten current ranking idols are announced. Their attained points in each aspect of stardom are released and through a month long fan vote, those points can only go up or down!

Jack and Dae-Jung sat by the television eagerly waiting for the news announcement to come on.

"Are you as excited as I am Jack?" Dae-Jung asked giggling and nearly bouncing out of his seat.

"Huuuuh~? What's use for excitement when I already know I'm going to win." It was honestly just a joke, he was as excited if not more than his friend.

"Hey it's starting! It's starting!" The blue haired idol sung out.

A poppy tune played on the television before a big haired woman appeared, merrily humming along with the beat.

"Welcome back ladies and gents! I'm your host, Adriana Penn, and we're back with everyone's favourite event of the year!! Stars against stars- Meteor Season rankings!" She adjusted her glasses (which were quite ovbiously fake) and tapped a stack of papers on her desk, "Let's not waste any more time! I know what you all are here for~ From 10th to 1st, here we go!"

"Tenth place, Andrew Tran!"

Jack and Dae-Jung jumped at the sound of screaming from the apartment below them. The rooms were sound proof but somehow that loud mouth, Andrew, denied all laws of physics.

"DEAD FUCKING LAST??! WHAAAAAAAT?!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!" Was just part of the slightly muffled screams they heard

They were a bit distracted so they missed both eighth and ninth place.

"In seventh, Ye-Jun Im!"

Dae-Jung chuckled a bit. The rest of the places went on without much interruptions.

"Sixth, Chaoxing Lai!"

"Fifth is Yan Tian!"

"For fourth we have Dae-Jung Pak!"

Jack turned to quickly give Dae thumbs up. He'd congratulate him more later but now it was top three, they couldn't miss a thing. Even Andrew's loud sobbing had came to a stop.

"Now we're at our current top three! In third, Nami Deng!"

Both men held their breaths.

"Oh... This is a new one." Adriana giggled as if anything could be funny at a time like this! "For a first time in years... We have a tie for first!!"

"WHAAAAAAT?! A TIE!!? WITH WHO, WITH WHAT SORRY SOW?!!" Jack wailed without even knowing if he was one of the first.

"Our tie for first! Jack Sato and Elijah Songaa!! Give it up for out top idols~ Help your faves climb up the ranks! Wish upon your star! I'm your host, Adriana Penn, signing out~"

The channel flicked to some random commercial before Dae shut the tv off.

"Ah... Are you okay Jack?" He muttered looking at his friend sitting there with an extremely blank expression.

"...No... Not him. I can't possibly be tied with that big log head..." Jack mumbled to himself, his face as pale as if he had seen a ghost.

"Jackie-poo~! Guess who's making daddy a lot of money!" Jack wanted to die on the spot. The person he hated maybe more than his stupid rival, Elijah, was probably his producer. Jonas, "That's right~ It's you!!!!!"

Jonas ran over and wrapped his arms tight around the small brunette, who only flailed around like a doll.

"We're gonna have to do a ton more shows to garner more votes~ Maybe a sing off with that big chested guy you're tied with-"

Jonas' words must've angered Jack as he was met with a kick to the shin.

"DON'T REMIND ME OF THAT! A tie is just extra competition. And I can't allow that."

With the announcement of the stars comes many things. The idols do more performances and promos. They fight for the top spot by all means and crush the competition.

---

"Welcome back ladies and gents! I'm your host, Adriana Penn, here to announce day one of the Meteor Season rankings! Remember to wish upon your favourite star~ I'll keep you all updated on the listing!!"

Jack groaned and threw the remote at the television.

"HEY! Don't break my TV?!" Finley yelled.

"Shouldn't she be announcing that Songaa-guy's death!" The idol whined and threw a mini tantrum, "Hey Finley, back in your days how did you manage to win top idol?"

"DON'T SAY IT LIKE I'M ABOUT TO PASS AWAY FROM OLD AGE??!" Finley sighed as he walked over to turn of the television, "But anyways- I was second from the start, I just had to put that happy-go-lucky Mars wannabe-idol in his place. After that it wasn't hard to keep my spot."

"Haha, you always say the lamest things."

"Oh shut up, isn't that rival of yours having a show tonight? You should prepare for that and stop bothering someone who has retired from that industry!" Finley huffed as he shoved Jack out of his house.

---

Though the advice was vague, Jack knew what it meant. He sat up on the cliff a good distance from the stage Elijah would be using. It was a perfect spot, the perfect distance and view. He could easily scope out his rival without much threat of being seen. And having little distractions was also a plus.

"Seems like someone wants to start out this years Meteor Season with a bang!! Our first show from a top ten and it's coming from our number one!! I, Crystal~, am pleased to bring to you all Elijah!!"

That bastard is NOT number one! Who even prefers hot and sexy over a cutesy persona. Not Jack for sure! And all those fools out there cheering and whistling shouldn't either!! The only whistling Jack wanted to hear was the sweet sound of his bullet soaring through the air and subsequently claiming his spot on the top.

"Thank you all for coming, I just wanted to say I couldn't have made it this far without the love and support of you all!"

"False, you probably sucked and slobberd all over every rich-y dick that came your way!! Talentless piggies should be washed off the stage like fallen debris." Jack murmured as he gritted his teeth and aimed his shotgun.

"Please allow me to serenade you all!"

It was hard to see on that dark night and Jack was only wearing his contacts not glasses but he would've sworn on his father's life (not that it meant much.) that he saw the guy smile at him! No way he was spotted from such a distance.

"Tch- Rosey thorn this, sparkly knight that-" How low is this guy to mock skillfully crafted lyrics... Really to be tied for first with this un-idol-like behaviour! Jack you put even the narrator to shame. "I'll spark up your night, Songaa."

BANG

...

..

"HUH?? HOW IS THAT GUY NOT DEAD?!! MY BULLET- It literally... IT WAS SUCH A PERFECT SHOT!!" Such a cocky idol didn't bring any more bullets. He didn't even get to make his cheesy comment about Elijah being a 'falling star'!

He sat there in disbelief gazing at the other idol still performing, who kept going as if nothing had happened. To be fair Jack didn't even know what had happened himself! The performance came to a close with much applause- I mean Elijah was a talented star despite all of Jack's insults.

"Once again thank you all! Though I do understand what you're most looking forward to during these times." Elijah calmly announced before waving in Jack's direction, "Let's have as fair a battle as idols get, cuties."

Jack snarled and took his gun to leave. How was he supposed to feel? Nervous? His life was at stake. But it was also exciting, thinking of ways and strategies to outplay his opponents. It was a real honour to be in the top ten, so even if he did go out atleast it would be with a bang. This wasn't a battle, it was a war. And he planned on winning it.
