Work Text:
Comets in orbit, passing over, were said to be able to grant wishes. Poppy Hill, ghost and lover to two mortal women, wishes it’s true. She wishes to join them in life again, free of her afflictions and free to love. Free from death too, the three should and would be immortal… if the comet wish worked.
They find out it works in the saddest of ways. Olivia, wandering and half-demented by one of the last lost souls left behind besides Poppy, falls from the balcony to the floor, standing unscathed. Leigh finds her moments later, wrapped in Poppy’s arms where the former ghost has run down the stairs to her lover, kneeling to cradle her close as she sobs. Immortality had been granted. She discovers how human she is when she tries to walk her usual paths, through doors she didn’t open. She slams into the first and stops, stares, then laughs with delight and racing to find her lovers. The comet had given her her wishes. One wish, three parts, she thinks. She had worked within the comets ruling. She had, thankfully, been successful.
