‘Til the End of Time

Summary:

Ocean and Jane just want ice cream, but it does not go as planned.

Notes:

before we get into this, i want to note that this was written a solid 3-ish years ago so the writing probably isn’t up to par. second, i originally wrote it with OCs but my friend Dirt wanted me to provide Perfectdolls content so i simply replaced my OCs’ name with Ocean’s and Jane’s. finally, i dont personally ship perfectdolls, but i love RTC so watch out for more RTC content coming soon ;)

Work Text:

Screams. Deafening screams. There were people running away in a panic. What happened? Ocean looked around to see what all the fuss was about. That's when she saw it. Someone had been stabbed. No, not someone. Ocean’s heart dropped. Jane.
“Jane!” Ocean yelled. “Oh, my Gosh, are you okay? Are you okay?”
Jane’s face had turned a ghostly pale. Ocean reached her just in time to catch her when her legs gave out.
“Ocean,” Jane hoarsely whispered. It took every nerve in Ocean’s body not to pass out at the sight of everything.
“Oh, Jane,” Ocean said with tears rolling down her cheeks onto Jane’s chest.
“Hey, darling,” Jane chuckled softly. She pushed a loose strand of Ocean’s hair behind her ear. “I wanted to be in your arms tonight, but this isn’t exactly what I had in mind.”
“You’re hurt! This isn’t the time for jokes!” Ocean practically growled. “You do realize this could potentially be fatal, right?” she looked up at a couple of nearby strangers, “Someone, please, call an ambulance!”
Jane smiled through her tears. She winced as she reached for her back pocket.
“What are you doing? Stay still or else you might cause more damage!”
Jane shushed Ocean as she pulled out a black velvet box, “I was going to save this for tonight,” she started, taking deep heavy breaths in between, “but who knows where this,” she pointed to the knife, “could be or what will happen, so I want to do this now.” she opened the box to reveal a ring. On the top, beautiful diamonds were arranged into an infinity shape. In the middle of the infinity sign, a turquoise gem shimmered with the sunlight. “Ocean, you are the love of my life. Will you marry me?”
Ocean’s jaw dropped at the sight of the beautiful thing. "Yes! Yes, of course! A thousand times, yes, but I am not letting you die today, Savannah,” Ocean said, choking back more tears. Her words were rushed.
“I love you,” Jane said with a raspy voice. She then coughed and buried her face into Ocean’s chest and bit her lip in an attempt to stop from screaming.
“I love you too. Stay with me. Please,” Ocean was shaking and cradling Jane gently.
  “Sing.”
  “What?”
  “Sing, for me. Please.”
Ocean nodded, cleared her throat, and started with a quiet, shaky voice, “You are my sunshine, my only sunshine. You make me happy when skies are grey. You’ll never know, dear, how much I love you. Please don’t take my sunshine away.”
Jane smiled and wiped away Ocean’s tears. “The other night, dear, as I lay sleeping, I dreamt I held you in my arms. When I awoke, dear, I was mistaken, so I hung my head and cried.” She ran her fingers through Ocean’s hair. “Remember,” she said, “I’ll always be with you. It’s you and me against the world, Ocean. You and me. Forever.”
Ocean watched the rise and fall of Jane’s chest as she took her final breath. Ocean felt a chill down her spine. “WHY?” she screamed hysterically. She shook Jane’s lifeless body. “Come back, come back! What about us? What about forever? Jane, I need you! Come back! Come back...”
