Chapter 1: A gift

Chapter Text

The once powerful circle around Valentine Morgenstern was defeated. Clary had succeeded in stopping the outcasted shadowhunter and his followers with the help of her friends. A certain role had played Magnus Bane in the final battle. Valentine had summoned the demons while he was at Lake Lynn hoping that Raziel would fulfill his wish to banish the demons and Downworlders from the surface of the earth. The demons had started to attack the city of Alicante while Clary tried to stop her fathers's plans. Valentine had wanted to show how powerful he was when all people of Idris would have witnessed the genocide of demons and Downworlders.

Magnus had taken down the demons that had been under Valentine's control while he was in the possess of the Mortal Cup. Now the Cup was back in the hands of the Clave and slowly peace was welcomed home in Idris.

Magnus knew that he wasn't allowed to stay in Alicante. The Clave made an exception, because Clary had needed help in the fight against Valentine. But all of this was over now and Magnus was no longer needed, so he decided it was time to go home to his loft in Brooklyn. He wanted to leave the Shadowhunter World behind him, but he didn't know that the Clave would show gratitude to him after his phenomenal performance in the battle.

Before Magnus had the chance to create a portal to bring him home, the Inquisitor Imogen Herondale invited Magnus for a personal audience and even if Magnus wanted to decline, his curiousity won.

"I'm delighted to see you followed my invitation, Mr. Bane."

"Thank you for having me, Inquisitor Herondale", Magnus answered with the same charming manner. He wasn't sure what was going to happen, but just smiled nonchalant and hoped for the best. Imogen Herondale was a woman with an impressive authority and still some people might think that they could outclass her, like Valentine Morgenstern. But she was the rightful leader of the Clave and she had proven it many times in the battle against Valentine.

Magnus was aware that he had been a great help for the Shadowhunters and maybe the time had come when the Clave finally recognized that the Downworlders were as important as them.

There was a moment of silence when the Madam Inquisitor glanced at Magnus and he thought that Imogen wanted to make him feel nervous.

"Mr. Bane", she spoke with a calm voice. "I know you want to go home, but before that I think it's time for the Clave to show our gratitude for your fearless service in the fight against Morgenstern. I know we had our differences in the past, but you showed loyality to us. We became alliance in a situation where both of our worlds had been threatened. Together we defeated our enemy and now we can live in peace."

Magnus listened with growing interest to her words and inclinced his head when the Madam Inquisitor walked forward to him. Of course, they weren't alone. All members of the Clave stood behind Imogen and a few other important Shadowhunters like Robert and Maryse Lightwood and their children Isabelle and Max and Jace Herondale, their adoptive son and grandson to Imogen. Magnus was surprised that Alexander was missing, but his thoughts were interrupted when the doors behind him opened loudly.

"In honour to your service we want to present you a gift," Imogen proclaimed and Magnus turned slowly on his heel around. In the middle of four full armored Shadowhunters he saw a young, dark haired man walking towards him. The group stopped a few feets away and Magnus watched it with utter confusion showing on his face.

"A gift?" Magnus asked carefully and looked at Imogen flabbergasted.

"Yes, indeed a special gift for you. It's my pleasure to pronounce that we selected Alexander Lightwood to be your mate."

Magnus was shocked. Before him stood Alexander, the man he has admired for months now. They had spent many afternoons together in the Institute and Magnus had saved him when he tried to find Jace while his parabatai was in the fangs of Valentine. He had slowly developed feelings for the younger man, but had never spoken them out.

Slowly he understood the meaning of Imogen's words and couldn't believe that the Clave gifted him a mate.

He couldn't understand why the Clave would give Alexander to him. Alexander was a Beta, he could choose his partner on his own.

"It's a generous gift, but may I ask why you selected Alexander as a gift for me?"

"You risked your life to save Idris. We are forever in your debt. This is the beginning of giving you back what you risked for us. I hope the Omega will satisfy you."

Magnus gulped when he realised that the fierce and brave man over there was an Omega.

"I understand that you're surprised that Mr. Lightwood is an Omega. He used suppressants to hide his second gender."

His eyes went back to Alexander. His eyes were focused on the floor, so he couldn't see his face properly. His hands folded behind his back, but his posture was still straight. The dark hair a little messy. He wasn't wearing anything except a black skirt that gave him at least a bit of modesty. His neck and arms were decorated with gold necklaces and bangles. His hips embraced with golden chains.

Magnus couldn't deny Alexander's beauty. He was absolutely stunning.

"You don't have to worry, Mr. Bane. He knows his place and is obdient. Mr. Lightwood will be a good Omega for you."

Magnus raised his brows still in disbelieve. "But he is a Shadowhunter", he protested, but Imogen just smiled slightly at him.

"Mr. Lightwood used suppressants for a very long time to hide that he was an Omega. For many years we believed he was only a Beta. One of our laws is that an Omega has to be mated by the age of nineteen. Alexander is now twenty-three. Despite his second gender he's an excellent Shadowhunter and we would be very happy to keep him as The Head of the Institute of New York. We aren't disadvantaging anyone by his second gender. But an Omega need to be mated. You as an Alpha are still single and we saw this as a perfect oppurtunity to match the both of you. I know we normally don't match Shadowhunters with Downworlders, but with the fight against Valentine we realized that the Downworlders are as much as important. We want to give everyone an equal chance to find love and love who they want to love."

Magnus glared in disbelieve at Imogen and tried to realize what happened in a matter of seconds.

Alexander Lightwood was an Omega and the Clave decided to give him as mate to the High Warlock of Brooklyn.

It was a riddle to him how the Clave found out that Alexander was an Omega and how he never smelled anything strong on him. There was always the light smell orange and bergamot, but now it was stronger and a little sweeter. Magnus liked it from the first moment he had smelled it.

Magnus didn't bother the fact that the oldest of the Lightwood siblings was an Omega. For sure his parents had hoped their sons would be Alphas, but Maryse was an Omega herself. But it was still rare that a male person would present as an Omega.

There was nothing bad at all to be an Omega. The laws in the mundane world and Shadowhunter World had changed for the better and Omegas had been always highly respected. They had the same rights as Alphas and Betas, but they needed to be mated at the age of nineteen. The society expect of the Omegas to bear their Alphas at least on child, but the law said it was the choice of the Omega if they wanted to have children or not. The mating law on the other side wasn't negotiable.

When an Omega turned eighteen, they will have time for one year to find themselves a suitable Alpha. Most of the Omegas are already mated at their eighteenth birthday, because the law allowed to be mated on from the age of seventeen. If the Omega didn't have a suitable match at nineteen years old, the government would find an Alpha for the Omega, based on personal preferences. Most of the time the matched couples were perfect for each other. Of course, there were always expectations. If the Alpha would be abusive or wouldn't treat the Omega like any other Alpha or Beta, the Omega could be divorced, the mating bond would be removed and the Omega could find themselves a new Alpha or they would be matched again. But in the first place the mating law was there to protect the Omegas. An unmated Omega would be in danger all the time, because some Alphas could claim them and force themselves on the Omegas.

Magnus wasn't dissapointed about what Alexander had done. It wasn't Magnus' buisness and he wasn't in any position to judge about the young man. Still the law was the law and the Clave knew about their friendship and Magnus' friendship to the the other Shadowhunters. The Clave must have thought that Alexander and Magnus were the perfect match.

"I am surprised. You are right. But I understand Alexander's situation and I am grateful that you consider the both of us as a suitable match. But I am afraid I have to ask what Alexander thinks about this sudden decision? Don't you think that his loyalty and commitment to the Clave and for the sake of the Shadowhunters would give him the oppurtunity to choose his mate on his own?"

Imogen took a deep breath and her lips fromed a thin line. She wasn't contented about his questions, but Magnus needed to know that they wouldn't force Alexander to mate with him.

"I appreciate your concern for Mr. Lightwood, but he hadn't used the time until his nineteenth birthday to search for a mate. I assure you that Mr. Lightwood was given a selection of various Alphas by our coordinaters from the mating department, but Mr. Lightwood asked for a matching with you, Mr. Bane. I am telling you this in a private matter and the face that we permitted Mr. Lightwood's request has to stay a secret between the Clave and the two of you."

Imogen whispered the words so quiet to Magnus that he was sure no one of the other persons had heard anything of it. Magnus was shocked and delighted at the same time that Alexander had asked especially to be matched with him.

"Was it necessary that he is dressed like this?" Magnus commented a little angrily.

"Mr. Lightwood wasn't forced to do anything. But he knows his duty and the way he is dressed is traditional for the hand-over of an Omega to their Alpha. There is nothing shameful about it."

Magnus simply nodded. He knew it was useless to discuss with the Madam Inquisitor.

But Magnus was still mortified due the fact what the traditional hand-over ceremony included.

"One last question," Magnus added carefully and Imogen noticed his tensed posture.

"If you want to ask if we require that the mating is performed today, I can appease you that we aren't expecting it. We have decided that we will give you one month to form a mating bond."

Magnus sighed relieved and looked over at Alexander who was still standing like a statue at the same place. He knew that Alexander was always loyal to the law, but he was happy that Alexander didn't choose anyone else. It would have broken Magnus' heart if he would have been forced to watch Alexander mated to another Alpha. He looked forward to have a future with Alexander.

"I am thankful that you give us a chance, Madam Inquisitor Herondale."

Imogen nodded approving. "Mr. Lightwood and you are free to go. For the next coming thrity days Miss Isabelle Lightwood will be the Head of the Institute in New York. Mr. Lightwood will have his position back when he's successfully mated. You're dismissed. And congratulations to your perfect match, Mr. Lightwood. I wish you all the luck in the world."

Magnus wasn't sure if the last words were meant as a warning, but he didn't want to think about it now. All that mattered was Alexander. He wanted to leave as fast as possible, because the situation was more than awkward. Magnus knew that Alexander's family were looking at them and he wanted to be alone with his new partner. The urge to speak about the events of the last minutes was immense, but Magnus didn't know what to say or where to begin.

Chapter 2: The commitment

Notes:

Okay, thank you for the kudos and the comments. To be honest I didn't plan to post something today, but I just got carried away while I was typing.

Well, have fun :)

I don't know exactly know in which way the story will continue but I like it so far and I try to make it comprehensible, but maybe it's not like they would normally react.

Like the tags said, this isn't slow burn. Mags and Alec have feelings for each other and they try to cope with the whole new situation.

Even with the forced mating situation, they don't feel forced, it was the nudge in the right direction. But don't worry there is more drama to come.

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Magnus' full attention was on Alexander, his gorgeous appearance could make every other person jealous in this room, but Alexander's message was clear that he only wanted Magnus. But Magnus knew it wasn't simple, because they already had differences in the past. Alexander had declared so many times that he was Magnus' friend, but sometimes he hadn't trusted Magnus enough, like when Alexander didn't tell him that the Clave haven't regained the Soul-Sword back after Valentine had stolen it. He had wished on so many occasions that Alec would have trusted him more. He knew it wouldn't be easy to trust a Shadowhunter and be his friend too. That was hard enough, but Magnus developed romantic feelings for Alexander along the way and now he wasn't sure if the future bonding with Alexander was a misery or the happy ending he hoped so long for.

"Mr. Bane!" Imogen's harsh voice stopped him in his tracks. Magnus should have known that Imogen wasn't finished. He looked back at the brunette woman and his gaze was hard and serious.

"Yes, Madam Inquisitor," Magnus spoke calmly.

"There is still an issue that I have to address. Your interactions with the Seelie Queen didn't stay unnoticed. We know that you were allies. We also know that the Seelie Queen made a deal with Valentine Morgenstern and helped him to invade Idris. What we don't know is if you were involved in the deal with Morgenstern." Magnus' jaw tensed. He didn't get a chance to defend himself and wasn't sure if he wanted to say anything at all, because it could be used against him in the end.

"But you are lucky that Mr. Lightwood intervened for you. He explained that your alliance with the Seelie Queen resulted out of a personal matter he didn't want to extent further, but it made clear that you didn't intend to break the accord with the Clave. You wanted to protect your kind, because Morgenstern threatened to kill the Downworlders. I understandt this, Mr. Bane. But you have to understand that the law is very significant in our world and that there are reasons why the law exists. I recommend for you to remember that every action will have consequences. I am sure you have something to say, Mr. Bane."

Magnus has feared that his decision to be alliance with the Seelie Court would have consequences in the aftermath. He never wanted to break the accord or supported Valentine in any matter. He was relieved that he has helped to defeat the outcasted Shadowhunter, but he couldn't have foreseen that the Clave would draw consequences in what he did to protect the other warlocks who have trusted in him that he would make the right decision.

"I apologize that my alliance with the Seelie Queen made you speculating that I am supporting Morgenstern in any kind. You are right, I did what I have to do to secure the safety of the warlock community. I didn't know anyhting about the Queen's plans to connive with the enemy. I am grateful that Mr. Lightwood have assured that I wasn't involved in anything to harm the accord or the Clave."

Imogen chuckled slightly and considered Alexander with an amused glance.

"Yes, Mr. Lightwood spoke very highly of you."

Magnus followed her gaze and it was the first time that Alexander looked up as well. His eyes wandered to Magnus at first and they beamed with confidence and seriousness. Alexander was the Shadowhunter now, but Magnus knew what laid under the surface.

"Everything I said about Magnus was the truth," Alexander commented their conservation. Magnus sensed that Imogen wasn't glad that Alexander interfered, but he was satisfied that he had Alexander's backup.

"Well, I thank you for your kind words, Mr. Lightwood, but we already discussed everything important. You know your duty. I hope I don't have to expect further interruptions from you."

Alexander nodded in understanding, but he didn't go back into his prior posture. He remained with his head held high and his gaze fixed on Magnus.

"I don't tolerate illoyalty. You proved that you were on our site in the fight against Morgenstern, but you still made a deal with the seelies. The Clave could accusse you of high treason, but I factor Mr. Lightwood's intervaning and his aussurance that you are still loyal to the Clave and we decided in your favour, Mr. Bane. Our condition is the successful mating bond with Mr. Lightwood. Otherwise we consider other consequences."

Magnus blinked a few times, because he was really shocked now. He wasn't a traitor and Imogen knew it, but the Clave were hard in his punishments if you did something that wasn't in their favour.

"You think that a mating with Alexander would be a punishment for me," he replied in utter outrage.

"Oh I know it isn't, but if you don't... Alexander has to face other consequences because of his behaviour. I give you a chance in proving that you understand what the Clave stands for and what we can do if you don't follow the law. I give you a chance, because of what the both of you did for saving the Shadowhunter World. I hope you choose well, Mr. Bane."

Magnus was taken aback of the development of this event. He was lost for any words and this was very uncommon for him.

"I am sure that your future mate and you have a lot of things to talk about. Please, you can go now."

***

Magnus collapsed into his favorite armchair and buried his face in his hands. All of this couldn't be true and he hoped it wasn't a dream at the same time.

He has left Idris in a hurry matter after Imogen hasn't nothing further to say, but her words were still ringing in his ears. Alexander has to his mate, to be his Omega. It was all too much in this moment for him. He couldn't hold back the tears and the quiet sobs.

Of course, Alexander came along with him back to New York. The portal he created had vanished quickly after they arrived in Magnus' loft and now they were alone.

Alec looked unsure around in Magnus' home and didn't know what to do first. He wasn't sure if Magnus wanted to be alone and he should go back to the Institute, but the Shadowhunter there knew that he would be the future mate of Magnus Bane. He didn't know if he still was welcomed there, after he had lied about his true second gender for such a long time. Alec couldn't think further about what would happen next, because he was startled by Magnus' sobs. The warlock was definitely crying and Magnus was much more important than his reputation in the Institute.

"Oh Magnus, I am so sorry," Alec mumbled and crouched down in front of the Alpha. Alec liked that Magnus was an Alpha, it made him strong and brave, but he also liked that Magnus wasn't the traditional kind of Alpha. He wasn't shy of showing his emotions and that made him so precious for Alec. Magnus' usual scent of fresh cut grass, pleasant and sharp, slowly faded away and changed to the smell of a lawn after a heavy rain.

Magnus didn't respond at first to Alec, but the Shadowhunter put a hand carefully on Magnus' knee and now the other man finally raised his head to look at Alec.

"Hey there," Alec spoke quietly and Magnus snuffled his nose. He tried to smile a little at Alec and he smiled back.

"Hey," Magnus responded with a sigh and Alec inclined his head. He knew how hard the consultation with the Madam Inquisitor has been for Magnus and he tried to choose his next words wisely.

"I can't express to you properly how sorry I am that we are assigned to be a couple. I can't imagine how you feel right now, but I want you know that I... I didn't intent to offend you when I requested you as my future Alpha."

Magnus was surprised how Alec could amaze him anew. "Alexander, I am not offended. I am honoured."

Alec blushed slightly that Magnus felt such flattered, but he knew how serious the situation was and he wanted Magnus to know that he never wanted to hurt him.

"I think you what you did was very brave... and idiotic."

Alec widened his eyes in disbelieve and lowered his gaze down. Yes, he has to admit that his plan to save Magnus has been very risky. The mating department has given him a few choices of Alphas to choose from, but he couldn't bear the thought of losing Magnus in the process. Alec was convinced that it only would show how cooperate he was when he requested a specific Alpha. Naturally the responsible Shadowhunter for him wasn't so happy about his wish, but she didn't have any other choice than to speak with the Clave about his request. The law allowed for the Omega to make a specific request, even when Alec had commited the crime of hiding his second gender. And Alec knew that the Clave wouldn't let the fact down that Magnus and the Seelie Queen had been allies.

"I know, Magnus. But I need you to know... please, you must believe me when I say that I truly want to be your mate."

Now Alec was the one who couldn't stop the tears rolling down his cheeks. The whole situation was overwhelming for him and he just hoped that Magnus wouldn't reject him when the time would come and Alec will tell him about his true feelings for the warlock.

"My wounderful boy. I believe you. I don't doubt any of your words couldn't be true. But I hope you know what this means for your future. A mating bond is for life, Alexander, and I'm not convinced that I am your best option for a happy and bright future."

Alec's head shot back up. He reached for Magnus' hands and interlaced their fingers. How could Magnus think that he wasn't worthy enough for him. Suddenly Alec realized the insecurity and vulnerability in Magnus' eyes. The Alpha must been hurt more times than Alec could imagine and it broke his heart. He was aware that Magnus had many lovers before him, because they had talked about it at the evening when they were in the bar after the horrible accident that had let to the death of Clary's mother. Alec had been so devastated and crestfallen after his possession by the demon and the following events that Magnus wanted to distract him. Magnus had assured him it wasn't his fault and he was so grateful that Magnus had been there for him. This evening had brought them closer and it was the start of many more meetings with each other. Alec could maybe call them dates when he looked back at the activities they did together. Magnus took him to Rome to eat Pasta and to Paris to visit the Louvre and to Venice to ride in a gondola. They did those things as friends, but it was like Magnus tried hard to make every experience very special. That impressed Alec and it touched his heart that Magnus did it only for him. All of this events and gestures made him slowly falling in love with Magnus.

Alec decided that he would make sure that Magnus will feel loved and cherished in their future relationship and maybe this was a chance for a new beginning for both of them.

He knew that they had trust issues, because sometimes he had stood between his loyalty and devotion to the Clave and their law and his friendship to Magnus. Now he understood that the right thing for the Clave, wasn't the right thing for him, but he had to learn it the hard way when he didn't trust Magnus enough and had hurt him with his behavior. But he knew from now on he would stick to Magnus no matter what they will have to go through.

"You don't have to worry that I could break your trust again. I commited in all seriousness to you when I told them I want you to be my mate. I want this, Magnus, and I hope that you want as much as I want you."

Alec wasn't fully ready yet to confess all his romantic feelings for Magnus or even to say to the famous three words, but he wanted to make Magnus understand that he didn't do this to please the Clave.

The commitment that Alec knew what he got himself into and his assuring that he wanted to be Magnus' mate, made Magnus doing something that he could react afterwards. Magnus was affected that the Shadowhunter cared so deeply for him and he felt desperate, agitated, happy at the same time.

He cupped Alec's face in both of his hands and pulled the young man nearer to himself. In next second, he pressed his mouth on Alec's soft lips that he dreamed of kissing for so long.

At first Alec froze by the sudden contact, but he reminded himself that he fantasized how it would feel like to kiss Magnus. It wasn't strange or weird. The kiss was gentle and they both breathed calmly.

But the Alpha wanted more than a shy touching of their lips, he wanted the full package and he intented to show the Omega exactly what heated passion the man awoke in him. Magnus was aware of Alec's uncomfortable position and pulled slightly back. He saw that Alec has closed his eyes and he smiled fondly at Alec's expression, but he could admire him later thoroughly.

"Come here," Magnus' mumbled against Alec's lips. Alec followed atonished the guidance of Magnus' hands pulling his body up and Magnus manoeuvred him successfully straddling his lap. Alec was still only wearing the blackish skirt, what actually was a shorts at the same time, and all of his golden jewelry. "You look absolutely beautiful, Alexander."

Alec didn't find time to respond, because Magnus attacked his mouth again and this time he wasn't shy about to signal Alec that he wanted more. He kissed him back with bold enthusiasm and his hands craddled the back of Magnus' head. Their lips molded perfected against each other.

Alec didn't imagine that their first kiss would turn out in severeal minutes of making up, but he savoured every second of it. He gasped when Magnus nibbled at his bottom lip and soothed the little pain while his tongue caressed the spot tenderly. They parted slowly after this, but continued to give each other little pecks.

For the moment the stress of the last hours were forgotten, but they both knew there was a lot more ahead for them to come.

"I think this was overdue," Alec muttered while he embraced Magnus with his arms and burrying his nose in the crook of his neck, inhaling deeply the scent of freshly cut grass again. Their emotions changed so fast in the moment, but that was okay. His Alpha smelt fabulous and it definitely helped to calm his nerves. Magnus hugged him back and sighed loudly. He could get used to have the Omega in his arms.

"I'm sorry if it took you by surprise that I kissed you. It just felt right in the moment for me. I feel much better now."

Alec snickered and tighted his embrace. "No need for apologizing. I think I must apologize to you more than to anyone else."

Magnus shook his head. He knew what Alec was talking about. Alec thought that Magnus was mad with him about the lack of trust between them, because he didn't tell him the truth of him being an Omega. Magnus wasn't upset. It was Alec's decision to hide it and Magnus was sure he had good reasons for it.

"It's okay, Alexander. You will tell me when you're ready."

"Thank you, Magnus. I appreciate your understanding. It's just... I could never I really accepted that I am an Omega."

Magnus caressed Alec's naked back in little circles with his hands, signaling Alec that he wasn't alone in this and he could count on Magnus to be there for him.

"How are feeling now about being an Omega?" Magnus asked carefully. He didn't want to push Alec to tell him something he wasn't ready to share. Alec exhaled with a shudder and he felt the tears spilling at the corner of his eyes again.

"I... I... oh by the angel, this so hard. I can't fully accept that I am an... you know what I mean. I'm struggling with it every day for so many years, but now... with you... I feel like I can draw hope from this."

"Thank you for telling me, Alexander. We will figure out... I mean we will find a way together."

"Yes, together. It won't be easy, Magnus. You heard the Madam Inquisitor, she will send someone in thirty days to check if we are really mated. If we really consumed... well, if we have mating bites."

Magnus shuddered at the thought that someone will intrude their privacy again. He never liked to discuss his private matters with strangers, especially his relationships, but with Alec have changed everything. He always thought that he could never have the blue eyed Shadowhunter, that he would never call him his own, but here he was, sitting in his lap.

Magnus understood that Alec felt scared. But he reminded himself that he didn't want to rush anything with Alec today and they would have more time tomorrow to figure out how they will manage the whole mating thing.

"I know, Alexander. But we don't have to talk about this right now. We still have time to figure everything out."

"Yeah, you're right. But what we will do right now?" Alec asked chuckling while his voice sounded still throaty.

"Good question, Alexander. I think we search in my wardrobe for you something less revealing and than we go to the institute to pack some of your things."

Alec freed himself hastily from Magnus' embrace, but his hands remained on Magnus' shoulders.

"You want me to move in with you?"

"Well, you don't have to, but I really want to make this proper with you, Alexander. You said you want me and I can assure you I want you as much as you do. So, here we will have privacy and we can get to know each other better. I want you feel safe before we will mate."

Alec nodded slowly. "Okay, Magnus. I move in with you." He really meant it. It was a good way to start and somehow, he thought that Magnus could have the same romantic feelings. He couldn't eliminate that he could be wrong, but Magnus wanted him as his Omega and it made him happy.

"Great, now that we are settled with this, let's find something for you to put on. But don't get me wrong, I really like your outfit. You look very sexy and divine," Magnus replied in a flirtirious manner and Alec couldn't help but blushing again.

"Oh, I love when your cheecks turning pink. I promise I will make you blush every often from now on."

Alec only rolled his eyes at Magnus' words and stood up from his lap carefully. Alec knew that it wouldn't get bored with Magnus. But even if he felt calmer now, the thoughts of what was coming on their way, made him feel anxious. Magnus was understanding and caring, he assured him that he wasn't upset with him that Alec never told him the truth, but Alec still wanted to tell him his story of finding out that he was an Omega and how he handled everything after, especially why he decided to take suppressants and living as a Beta. There had been many reasons, but one reason of them was simple: he had wanted to wait for the true love. He wanted to keep the chance to decide who he wanted to love and especially when he would fall in love. He didn't want to live with the fear of being assigned to some stranger. Magnus wasn't a stranger to him, they had spent time together in private but as well fighted at each other's side against Valentine and all the problems that came along. He couldn't remember the exact day when he had fallen in love with Magnus, but today he was convinced that Magnus was his true love.

Notes:

I need your help! Has anyone an idea how a third person could have find out that Alec is an Omega. For e.g. Aldertree... Alec's family knows what Alec is.

Chapter Text

Alec followed the Alpha into his bedroom and looked around the large room. He liked how the room was decorated, it appeared warm and welcomed. His gaze wandered to the king size bed and he thought that it maybe could happen there. Their mating. Alec couldn’t deny that he didn’t think about the process how an Alpha and an Omega mated. Alec needed to wait until he would go into heat. Of course, Magnus could mate Alec before his heat, but the bond would be much stronger if it will happen during heat. Alec took his last suppressants injection three months and five days ago, which meant he would have need a new one in the last week. He knew it took a few days until his body will get rid of the active ingredient in his bloodstream, but then it wouldn't take long his heat to start. The doctor he was sent to by the Madam Inquisitor told him that his heat will be different from what he had experienced from previous heats. In seven years he had only four heats, once a year when he had taken a pause from the injections, but every was more worse than the one before and so he had taken the injections for four years straight. He couldn't bear to go through it again without any chance to be taken care of by an Alpha. This time it would be worse, because he knew his heat will be longer, more painful and his need to be close to Magnus could be too overwhelming for the Alpha. Alec's fear of rejection would be a constant companion for the next days.
Magnus interrupted his thoughts when he opened the sliding door to his wardrobe and presented his colorful clothes, although Magnus wore most of the time black, his taste was opulent. Alec raised an eyebrow when Magnus handed him a red boxer briefs that shimmered in the light.
“Seriously? Don’t you have something less sparkling?”
Magnus snickered at Alec’s bewildered expression.
“I think you would look very sexy in those. Don’t you want to please your Alpha, my darling?” Magnus teased him with a grin and Alec shook chuckling his head. But the words provoked a feeling of arousal and devotion inside him and he wanted indeed to please his Alpha. His heart still pounded faster in his chest since they have kissed a few minutes ago. He was feeling excited that their first kiss happened so early, he have thought that Magnus would need more time to adjust, but he knew it was the heat of the moment. The important thing was that Alec enjoyed it so much that he couldn’t wait to kiss him again.
“Well, if it makes you happy I will wear it,” Alec replied with a thoughtful smile. He took the piece of clothing in his hand and looked down on himself. Well, he needed to take off the jewelry and his weird skirt. Alec started to get shy all of sudden in front of Magnus, but he knew Magnus would never make him feeling uncomfortable.
“Would you help me to take all of this decoration off? I know you like how I look right now, but I don’t like wearing jewelry.”
Magnus didn’t only like Alec’s appearance, he could admire his beauty all day and wouldn’t get tired of it.
“Yes, I like it very much, but you don’t need any jewelry to look beautiful. You’re a very attractive man, Alexander. If someone ever would tell you’re ugly, well, then he must be blind. But don’t worry, I don’t like you just for your body. Your intelligence and kindness makes you irresistible for me.”
Magnus didn’t lie when he said that he would make him blushing very often from now on. Alec felt his cheeks heating up, but he wasn’t embarrassed.
“Thank you for the compliments then. But have you looked in the mirror lately? I am a lucky man to call such a handsome guy my future mate.”
Magnus gave him an honest smile, but he looked abashed away. He was used to it that people told him how good-looking he was, but his inner Alpha beamed with pride that his appearance pleased the Omega.
“I thank you as well. I will put the jewelry aside for you. Maybe you want to wear it on a special occasion in the future,” Magnus declared after he has removed the golden pieces from Alec’s body. His eyes traced the dark lines of the runes and he couldn’t wait to actually touch the soft skin.
Alec watched attentive when he noticed that Magnus clearly checked him out. He smirked slightly and didn’t want to interrupt Magnus, because he liked the admiring expression on his face. Alec has never thought that he was very handsome or attractive, he was average and that was okay.
A surprised gasp escaped Magnus’ lips when he realized that he got caught, but the smirk told him that Alec clearly enjoyed his starring.
“Are you done or should I turn around for you?” Alec asked blunt and Magnus raised his eyebrows astonished. Sometimes Alec could be very bold and Magnus liked this side of Alec very much.
“Maybe some other time. I want to enjoy the anticipation,” Magnus responded with a wink and Alec chuckled slightly.

Their conversation and interacting were uncomplicated in the moment and they enjoyed the necking of each other, but under the surface they were tensed and agitated, somewhat excited about the new chapter in their lives, but the fear of rejection and hurting the other one wouldn’t disappear until they would have formed a bond. A mating bond was stronger than just promising to trust each other. It was a promise to stay at their partner’s side, no matter what, to love and protect and support each other. Both of them were sure they found the right person. But right now they needed to figure out what the next step in their beginning relationship would be. They knew there already was a connection between them, the kiss clearly showed them that they desired each other, but desire wasn’t enough for a functioning relationship.
Magnus knew the lack wasn’t the physical attraction, but he craved to know how Alec really felt about him. Magnus decided he would confess to Alec that he has fell in love with him, not today, but in a few days, after they would have let the eventful day sink in.
Maybe… well, he hoped that Alec would return his feelings. But Magnus had to be patient and now he would help Alec to settle down in his new home.

The height of Alec was a little problem when he first tried to pull some pants over his hips, but Magnus only snapped with his fingers and the fabric customized to Alec’s long legs. A red dark shirt with buttons followed and Alec allowed him to button it up.
Alec has always felt a little calmer when he has been with Magnus, but he has never let it happen to be fully surrounded by Magnus’ scent. He always tried to hide his true feelings for Magnus, and keeping a respectful distance, but now he would surrender to his feelings.
The Alpha's smell filled his nose again when Magnus stood so close to him that their foreheads almost touched. His hands found their way to Magnus’ waist and his fingers grabbed the fabric of the silk shirt. After Magnus finished his task, he slowly looked up and he noticed the intense gaze in Alec’s hazel eyes. Alec’s scent has grown stronger and Magnus has the feeling he stood in a forest full of orange trees. He wished he could lick it from Alec’s lips, taste him on his tongue. It was like Alec could read his minds.
Alec dipped his head a little bit and captured Magnus in a gentle kiss. Magnus inhaled sharply and pressed his body closer to Alec’s front. It happened again, and Magnus wanted that it would never end. But Magnus stayed still this time, he waited until Alec would take the next step. He knew he has rushed their first kiss, but he wanted to move in Alec’s pace now. He was afraid if they would move too fast, he could lose his partner before he has ever owned him.
Carefully Alec began to test if Magnus was willing to deepen the kiss and so he slowly sucked Magnus’ lower lip between his own lips. Now it was Magnus turn to kiss him back. This time the kiss didn’t only grow more passionate, Alec even had the courage to tease Magnus with his tongue and Magnus was more than happy to allow the access to his mouth.
The couple lost themselves in tasting each other. Alec moaned when Magnus’ hands slid up his back and he clasped them around the broad shoulders. He enjoyed it very much to kiss the warlock and he didn’t know if he could ever stop. Alec felt the arousal crawling up his spine and Magnus’ was the source of this new feeling. Magnus’ closeness was intoxicating, like he couldn’t get enough of the man. Alec needed Magnus like he needed air to breathe. From this moment Alec knew he could never live without him. He didn’t need the mating to realize that Magnus was everything he had waited for.
Magnus was the one who broke the kiss and he was breathing heavily when he searched for Alec’s eyes. His pupils were blown and tried to steady his breath too.
“If you always kiss like this from now on, then I don’t know how we could ever stop us from doing it,” Magnus observed with a raspy voice. Alec could only smile, because he was happy that Magnus felt the same about their kissing.
“Then we won’t stop,” Alec determined and gave point to his words when he kissed Magnus again. This time hard and assertive and Magnus knew it was a promise.

“I know I shouldn’t ask you this, because I promised you I would wait until you’re ready to tell me your story of being an Omega, but…”
“Magnus, you can ask me anything. I can’t promise if I answer, but if I do, then I assure you I’ll tell you the truth. I’m not made of glass, so stop treating me like I could break,” Alec interrupted him and gave him an encouraging nod.
“I’m sorry. I just try to accomplish to our new situation and it could be possible when we go back to the Institute that we’ll meet your parents and I don’t want to say something wrong.”
Alec sighed and closed his eyes; his fingers touched the bridge of his nose while he took a deep breath.
“My parents isn’t a topic I want to talk about, but I know it’s necessary. Just ask your question, Magnus.” Alec sounded a little stressed and Magnus felt badly for making his partner feel like it.
“I shouldn’t have said anything, Alexander. It’s a delicate topic and I should give you time.”
“Magnus! We don’t have time. In less than a month we have to be mated and all of this scares me. A few weeks ago I have thought I could spend my life as a Beta, but suddenly my world is turned upside down and now I pull you down with me.”
It didn’t shock him that Alec’s voice grew louder with every word. Indeed he was quiet relieved that Alec didn’t intent to shove it all into the back of his mind until he couldn’t bear anymore and it would destroy him entirely in the end.
Alec breathed fast and his hands were formed into fists.
“Alexander,” he tried to get Alec’s attention and cupped tenderly Alec’s face in his hands. The young man looked sad and desperate back at Magnus.
“You’re right and it’s okay to be scared. But we still have a few days before we have to talk about the mating itself.”
Alec shook his head like he want to get rid of a bad thought. “No, I’m not scared because of the mating. I want you, Magnus. I want to be close to you as possible as it can be. I want to become us one person.”
“Your mind is still conflicted, my dear Alexander. I agree with you in the point that we both want each other, I can feel it too. But there is still something inside you that is holding you back and I want to know what scares you so much. The Clave approved your request to be my mate and I accepted it. I could have rejected you earlier, but I didn’t and I promise I won’t do it if it’s this what scares you.”
Alec’s eyes shimmered with tears. “Yes… this is something I’m scared of. I still don’t understand why you accept it. When I came to you I was confident and I remained confident when we went here, but when I saw how devastated you were I got scared. I think that I somehow forced you to agree to the mating.”
“Oh no, darling, you didn’t force me to anything. I am glad that you chose me to be your mate. I would have become your mate on the day I first met you if you would have asked me. You should know I never believed in love at first sight, but when I saw in my club back then you were the most handsome man I ever had seen in my entire life.”
Maybe some people would say that it was stupid to believe in love at first sight, but Alec had drawn his interest immadiately and the meetings in the following weeks with Alec only whipped up his attraction to the Shadowhunter. But Magnus had been scared that if he would ask him on a date and they bond with each other, well, that he would end up hurt and heartbroken and Magnus had gone through too many heartbreaks.
His eyes stayed focused on Alec while he recognized that Alec’s thoughts must racing with hundred miles per hour, because he tried to process all what happened today and he knew their conversation didn't soothe his distress.
“Why?” Alec whispered and clasped his fingers around Magnus’ wrists. “Why do you want me? Please, I need to know.”
Magnus wanted to pull away, but Alec used his strength to hold him in place. Now was Magnus really scared and he gulped nervously. Alec waited for an answer and if Magnus would remain silent he knew it would break Alec’s heart.
“I love you,” he answered quietly and shrugged his shoulders helplessly. The confession he wanted to hold back for the right moment was out and he couldn’t take it back now. He didn’t know what Alec thought about him now, but he didn’t dare to look at him.
“Magnus… Magnus is this true?” The Shadowhunter exclaimed excitedly and Magnus looked at him immediately. The sadness was gone and now Alec watched him with expectation of a positive answer.
“Yes. I love you, Alec. I love you so much.”
It was like that with Magnus’ words all of Alec’s prayers were answered by the angels. His chosen mate loved him and he would prove Magnus that he was worth it.
“I love you too,” Alec responded with all of his courage.
“You never cease to amaze me, Alexander,” Magnus mumbled when he leaned in to kiss Alec passionately.
Both of them had declared their love for each other and now there was no going back. Their kiss sealed their destiny and from here existed only a way they would go together.
When the men parted they only smiled each other.
“And you said that you don’t want to rush anything,” Alec said laughing.
“Well, I’ve waited my whole life for you, so why I should wait another day when I can have you now.”
“You have me, don’t worry,” Alec assured him and pulled him into a tight embrace.

Notes:

Like I said, no slow burn, we dive right into it :D

I am not sure why I rushed the events in the story in this chapter, but if felt right and I know it was important for Alec and Magnus to know that they will have each other no matter what. And I am too romantic and I want everything fluffy and happy.

But don't worry... there is a lot of drama and tears and heartbreaks to come, but our two lovebirds will stay at each other side.

So in our next chapter they will meet Alec's family and it will be... well, you have to wait until then :D

What do you think? Did Alec's family know that he has feelings for Magnus or was is it a shock for them that he'll be Magnus' mate?

Chapter Text

The big stone fell from Magnus' heart and was replaced by the feeling of relieve and happiness. Magnus has been holding his feelings back for so long that he never thought he could actually say "I love you' to Alec. He had been too afraid of rejection, if he only had known that both of them been on the same page from the beginning, well, maybe he would have said something earlier. But it didn't matter anymore what could have been, what mattered was that they were together now.
"Alexander, you have no idea how happy you make me right now," Magnus spoke into his ear while they were still holding the other one in their arms.
"I can assume it. But it won't take long and I will feel it through our bond," Alec replied with excitement in his voice. Although it felt all like a dream in the moment Alec tried to see it from the positive site. The stupid mating law gave them a chance to be together. Of course, they could have been together much earlier, when everyone still thought that Alec was a Beta, but life can change very fast and unexpectedly.
"Yes, very soon, my darling," Magnus reassured him. He started to feel the anticipation for this special day and hugged Alec a little tighter. Alec was now his safe haven und he hoped he could be the same for him.
"I think it's time to go to the Insititute, Magnus. I need to pack my clothes and a few other things... I mean, can I bring some personal things into your loft?" Magnus looked flabbergasted at him as he handed him some of his shoes for Alec to put on.
"You can bring here whatever you like. I have enough space. You can redecorate the guest room if you want a place of your own."
"What?" Alec asked taken aback.
"I spare you the guest room if you like," Magnus repeated, but looked unsure about his offer.
"Okay, I think we are both confused now. Are you offering me your guest room, because you want to be polite or do you determinite for me to move in there?"
Alec didn't like the thought if Magnus didn't want to share his bedroom wit him. He would really like to sleep next to the warlock.
"I understand. It's just an offer, Alexander. I would be delighted if you not only move in with me, but also share my bed with me in good faith."
"In good faith?" Alec snickered and gave him a cheecky grin.
"Of course, I have to protect your good reputation."
"Oh no, I want to do all the things with you that other couples do," Alec gainsaid and Magnus cocked an eyebrow curiously.
"I have no idea what things that could be. Do you care to elaborate?" he teased him.
"I would love to specify all the glorious that we could do in your bedroom," Alec answered nonchalantly as he stood up from the armchair in the corner and walked slowly towards the other grinning man.
"I am all ears, sweetheart," Magnus responded eager and Alec chuckled only.
"But unfortunately, we have something to do now," Alec said with total seriousness and Magnus could only roll playfully with his eyes. "But I can show you tonight."
These words made Magnus shiver with sudden arousal. He didn't expect that Alec could be so bold and seductive, because he only got to know the Shadowhunter version of Alec, even if it was the friendly one. Magnus knew they will have an exciting time together.
"I take you by your word. Alexander."

*

The created portal brought the men directly into Alec's room in the Institute and it was still like Alec has abandoned it two days ago. He came back with mixed feelings and was unsure if he should only pack his belongings or if he should actually talk to someone of his family. Another occasion he was afraid of and it didn't stay unnoticed by Magnus.
The warlock made himself uncomfortable on the neat comforter of Alec's bed and watched his partner concerned.
"Talk to me, Alexander. What is going on your mind?"
Alec's sighed as he searched for a bag in his wardrobe. He didn't want to afflict Magnus with all of problems, but this was something all couples do. They faced problems together.
"It's about my parents," he mumbled quietly, but Magnus still heard him..
"It's okay, you can tell me. I won't judge you. You know that, right?"
"Yes, I know. But I wish I could leave them behind me. Sometimes I wish I could have normal loving parents, and my mom isn't the issue, but my father."
Alec bit himself on the tongue. He already told him too much about the whole situation, but somehow it helped to talk to a person who wasn't entirely involved in his family buisness.
"Are you afraid of what he will say when you see him?"
Alec could only nod. He folded his clothes absent-minded and put them neatly inside the black leathter bag he usually used for travelling. Magnus saw how tensed and stressed Alec was again.
He just wanted to bring home as soon as possible, but it was Alec's decision what they will do.
"No matter what will happen I am here with you. I won't leave your side unless you ask me to," Magnus declared in a certain voice, and Alec nodded again without looking up.
It was all overwhelming and Alec braced himself with his hands on the edge of his bed. He couldn' think straight and bit on his lower lip nervously.
"What do you need?" Magnus asked tenderly and rushed to Alec's side. Searching for comfort the young man wrapped his arms around Magnus' waist and buried his head in the crook of his neck.
Magnus enjoyed how affectionate he was and granted him the support he needed. Magnus didn't know how long he hold the trembling body in his arms, but he slowly sensed that Alec relaxed.
"My parents didn't know that you would be my mate. It was surprise for them as it was for you today."
"That must have been quiet a shock for them," Magnus responded with understanding in his voice
"Was is it a shock for you?" Alec wanted to know, he sounded like he felt guilty for what happened
"I felt a gamut of emotions. Shock and surprise were only two of them. I can't really describe what had felt, but now I know why you had done it. I assume your parents won't be as understanding as I am."
"No, they won't. My mom knows that I'm gay, but she denfinitly didn't think that I would have chosen a warlock as my mate. I won't be surprised if my dad already filed a complaint by the Clave."
Meanwhile they sat on the bed, but Magnus still held Alec in his arms and he has placed his chin on top of his head. He rubbed lovingly up and down Alec's back to soothe his distress.
"I am sure everything is going to be fine. I know you don't want to see them in the moment, but maybe you want to see your sister and parabatai. Does they know anything about how you feel?"
Alec knitted his eyesbrowes at his words. "Yes, they know almost everything. To be honest Izzy encouraged me to tell them that I want you as my mate."
Magnus began to laugh whole-heartedly. "Then I have to thank her for it. You should talk to them, I am sure it would make them happy."
"You're right. Do you come with me?"
"I will follow you wherever you go."

Alec summoned up the courage to finally face his family after the nervewrecking events from the last days. He was grateful for Magnus' support, although he didn't know the whole story, but he will tell him everything in the coming days.
The Shadowhunters in the Institute were busy as usual. Alec has taken his time to pack all of his belongings and Magnus send them with a snap of fingers back home. An hour after their arriving Ale stepped out of his room with Magnus right behind him. The warlock knew he wasn't welcomed at the Institute, but he was Alec's assigned mate and he won't let his Omega go somewhere alone if Alec needed him by his side.
It didn't take long to find his sister Isabelle. She was standing with Jace and Clary infront of the many computers of the monitoring system. Of course, she saw them before Alec could say anything, because their presence didn't remain unseen. Magnus heard some mean comments about Alec like he was a traitor or how the Clave should derune him for his crime of hiding his true gender.
Nothing of it made sense for Magnus, because they didn't know about Alec's true intentions and it wasn't simply not their buisness. He really would like to say something, but he didn't want to provoke a fight. He knew how most of the people think about warlocks and they certainly thought the same about their union.
"Alec!" Isabella screamed happily and ran over to her brother to hug him. Alec was grateful for his supportive sister and hugged her back with the enthusiasm. Jace followed and even Clary gave him a brief hug.
"It's good to see you, brother," Jace said with honesty and clapped him on the shoulder.
"Hello Magnus." Isabelle adressed him with a warm smile and to his surprise hugged him. "Welcome to the family, soon to be brother-in-law."
"Izzy," Alec scolded her half-playfully and half-abashed. "No need to make big announcements."
"Of course, I have to. Everyone needs to know that we are on your side. Magnus is now part of our family, and if anyone has a problem with it, then they have to deal with me first."
"Seems the affection to amaze me runs in your family," Magnus commented and Alec could only shake his head smiling.
"See? Magnus agrees with me," Isabella deadpanned like it was obviously.
"So what are you doing here, guys? I thought that you wouldn't leave the bed for days," Jace tried to the change the topic and Alec was grateful for his timing. Sometimes he really wanted to tape his sister's mouth, but he wouldn't want her ever to change. But Jace's comment wasn't any better. He was really annoyed that his parabatai have to be so straight forward and it didn't care that it made Alec uncomfortable.
"We just wanted to step by for a quick chat and telling you that we decided that Alec move in with me to my loft in Brooklyn," Magnus answered for him and ignored Jace's comment intentionally.
"Oh, big step for you the two of you. Congratulations to this and your perfect match with each other. I am really happy for you," Clary said with kindness.
"Thank you, biscuit. You're too sweet-natured," Magnus replied smiling. "And thank you, Izzy. For encouraging your brother in his attempt to win my heart."
Magnus looked at his partner who blushed prettily.
"It's getting pretty serious between you. But I'm happy that Alec finally gave in to his feelings and that you are together now... oh, crap, I'm sorry, Alec. I said too much...," Jace babbled and Alec interrupted him with a calming smile. "It's okay, Jace. We talked about it."
"Alec, Magnus, that's awesome. Oh by the angels, I can' wait for the wedding and where you're going for your honeymoon and soon I'll be an aunt... oh everything is so exciting."
"Alright, Izzy. Take a deep breath. I think you're overrating. At first they have to mate and then I'm sure they will tell us what they have planned furthermore," Clary explained to Izzy who was excited like a little girl on Christmas' Eve. Magnus was glad that the three Shadowhunters were supportive and happy for Alec and him, but he knew the catastrophe wouldn't wait, because Robert Lightwood appeared on the top of the stairs.

"Alexander. I need to speak with you," Robert's baritone voice echoed through the room and he had Alec's full attention.
"Now!" his father demanded, but Alec was frozen in his place. Normally he would follow the order, but he wasn't ready to face the consequences of his actions. He knew his father hated him for what he was, he never made a fuss about how he truly felt for his son, but in never mattered to him, because he knew his mother would have his back. Right now, it was something else. Alec saw the anger in his father's eyes and surely the dissapoint that followed with it. He couldn't take his eyes of the man and didn't notice that Magnus tried to attract his attention until he spoke quietly to him.
"My darling, you don't have to be scared. You aren't alone. I'm here," he reassured his partner and Alec snapped out of his trance. He gulped and his throat felt dry suddenly.
"This wasn't an invitation, son." Robert's voice grew louder.
"I heard you the first time, dad. I'm coming," Alec answered in a calm and steady voice and grabbed Magnus' hand to signalize him that Alec wanted him to come along.
"Mr. Bane won't be part of our conversation," Robert said unmistakable.
"Of course, he will. He's my assigned Alpha. My buisness is his buisness, too. Otherwise we don't need to continue and we'll go home."
Alec made his position clear to his father and wouldn't allow any further discussions. His father could accept or leave the issue behind. Alec waited for his father's decision.
"Well, if you insist. I'll see in the office in a moment." He walked away with large steps.
The couple looked at each other and Magnus knew it won't be an easy conversation.
"It's okay. We got this."
"Yeah, let's go," Alec agreed and Magnus squeezed his hand in encouragement.
They went after Robert and Izzy, Jace and Clary wished them good luck.

Well here is the drama you waited for.

What do you think? What has Robert to say? Will Maryse be there?

Chapter Text

The moment that has Alec feared the most was to explain his father why he has chosen Magnus to be his Alpha. For Robert would ‘Love’ never be an acceptable answer. In Robert’s eyes had been Lydia Branwell the best choice for him. She was an Alpha and together they could have led the Institute, because then his father didn't need to worry anymore about the reputation of the family being ruined.
The disappointment was written on his face when Alec entered the office where he usually sat as the Head of the Institute. For the next few weeks it would be Isabelle’s office.
His father leaned on the front of the desk and his mother Maryse sat on the sofa on the opposite side. He was surprised to see both of them in the same room, because he knew that they must have fought again, and like in seventy percent of the cases it was because of him.
His mother’s eyes widened when she saw Magnus behind him. Alec still held his partner’s hand in a hard grip, because he needed the assurance that he wasn’t alone.
“Well, well, Alec. Is this your way to show me how rebellious you are? Alright, you had your fun and now it’s over,” his father said in a mocking way and Magnus tried persistent to stay calm. He didn’t like Alec’s father and if he would have to decide, then Alec would never have to see this man again in his life. His Omega didn’t deserve to be treated like he was a failure to his parents.
“I don’t play games with you, dad,” Alec responded seriously and stood with his head held high before him.
“Why did the Clave approve of your choice? First of all he’s a man and a warlock. My son can’t be mated with a Downworlder,” Robert exclaimed loudly and Magnus was sure that Izzy and the others could hear him.
“I am aware of who Magnus is,” Alec acknowledged simply.
“I think you don't actually. His father is a demon. The creatures that you kill to protect the world from being destroyed, but now you want to mate one of them. A filthy crossbread. That is disgusting,” Robert said like he was spitting the words.
"Don't call him that!" Alec shouted enraged. "You have no right to call Magnus any names or talk bad about him."
Magnus gritted his teeth and tried to fight his anger down for Alec’s sake. He was proud that Alec defended him, but Robert’s next words let him boil with rage.
“Now you are defending... Is this what you want to be? The whore of a warlock.”
With a wave of his hand the blue sparks of his magic caused to let to crack the glass window behind them. I didn’t burst, but Magnus wanted simply to demonstrate who was in charge of the situation.
“How dare you to destroy property of the…”
“I don’t care who you are, Robert, and you can me insult as much as you like. I heard worse. But one more insulting word about Alexander and this window will burst into million pieces, and none of it will harm anyone but you.”
Magnus made his point clear when he lowered his glamour to show his warlock mark, his yellow cat eyes.
Robert trembled with rage, but he didn’t waste a word at Magnus, instead he pointed a finger at Alec’s chest.
“This demonic creature is dangerous. You will end this right now. We go back to Idris and they’ll match you with a suitable female Alpha from a good family.”
Alec stepped a little back and couldn’t believe what his father required from him. He didn’t want to end his relationship when he felt that he could be really happy with Magnus for the first time in his life. He also didn’t care that he was insulted and humiliated by his father, although it still hurt somehow. As a young man he had always looked up to his father, but today he decided that his father won’t be a part of his life any longer.

The major part of his childhood and teenager years he had wanted to feel loved and respected by his father, but everything he did wasn’t good enough; he had always to be better at the next attempt. He had thought that he wasn’t worth of anyone’s love; even though his mother showed him her love any time she could. She was still strict and dutiful, because most of the time she was on his father’s side. Her love had changed for the better at the day he had presented as an Omega. He had finally felt understood and cared for and with Magnus was it the same. He didn’t need to prove anything to Magnus, he loved him nonetheless.
Magnus magic faded and the window turned back into its original state. He kept his cat eyes and Alec thought he never saw anything more beautiful than him. Magnus smiled at him slightly and assured Alec with a firm nod that he was fine. Magnus gave him new strength and Alec was still holding his hand which made him feel safe.
“I won’t do such a thing. I’m sorry that you can’t accept who I am, but this is my life,” Alec stated certainly and Magnus admired his mental strength, but he still feared if he would leave him alone that Alec would lose his control.
“Your life is affecting all of us. I hate to repeat myself, but you will call this off. I hope we can still save something of your reputation, but I doubt that anything will prevent our downfall. You’re such a disgrace to our family. But what I should I have hoped for after I married your mother. Her uncle and cousin are just like you. Weak Omegas only good enough to breed.”
Magnus gasped when Alec was in three large strides by his father, which caused Magnus to follow him abruptly and he nearly tripped over his own feet. Magnus saw that only a few centimeters separated father and son.
“Keep Mom out of this. It’s certainly not Mom’s fault that I presented as an Omega all those years ago. You should ask yourself what is wrong with you when you see a disappointment in everyone around you.”
“We are Lightwoods and I except from everyone to do what his duty is. Your mother’s duty was to bear a male Alpha, but she failed. You should marry a female Alpha, but you failed as well. I am the Head of the family and I decide what is best for the family. But you made me a laughingstock. I won’t tolerate any longer that you’re always stepping out of the line. If you won’t do as I say, I will make you.”
Alec remained silent where he stood, but his hazel eyes shimmered with anger and he really tried to pull himself together. But Magnus won’t having it this way.
Robert gasped for air when an invisible sling wrapped around his neck and his feet tangled above the ground.
“You’re insulting Alexander, your first strike. You’re threatening him, your second strike. What will be your third strike? I gave you a proper warning. That is my second and last warning, because you’re Alec’s and Izzy’s father. One more intolerable action from you and we’re going to speak from warlock to scumbag in private. Do you understand me?”
Magnus saw the panic in Robert’s eyes and then a brief nod. He released the man immediately and he fell on his knees to the ground. A loud groan escaped his mouth on the impact and he tried to rise onto his feet slowly, his face contorted with pain.
Maryse rushed to his side, but he ignored her attempt to help him. Magnus felt pity for her that she couldn’t stand up to her husband.
“This is your own fault, Robert. I have enough of your attitude and behavior. For years I have myself devoted to you, but this is over now. You have no right to dictate your son’s life and now you’re insulting and threatening him and his Alpha. You should shame yourself,” Maryse spoke with clear disgust in her voice.

"You promised me to be respectful and decent, but of course, you had to be the Alpha again. I know you didn't wish for an Omega son, but you have one and you need to accept this as his father. You owe him that after everything you have done. That will all over now, Robert. Our son is an adult and he can make his own decisions. We are his parents and should support him and all you do is degrading him for being himself finally. So, if he wants to be with Magnus then he should be happy."
Magnus began to clap his hands in applause to show his appreciation for Maryse's rant and Alec just stood there with a totally surprised expression on his face. He was speechless, because never in seven years since he had presented did his mother stand up for him like this.
The rage in his Robert's eyes was still there, but he remained silent with a sideglance at Magnus. The warlock only raised an eyebrow at him in a questionable manner. "Don't you have to say anything?"
"If you think you won, then you're more than wrong. Everything in life has consequences and what
you do to your family..."
"You mean what I did to you?" Alec interrupted him annoyed. "You won't blame me anymore for being an Omega. I have so many issues with myself, because your behavior towards me. You had always making me feel bad, because of who I am, but now I will learn to accept myself and I'm sure Magnus will help me."
Alec felt so good of finally being able to tell his father what he really thought about him. He knew that it be wouldn't be easy from now on. There was a lot of trauma he has came to terms with and a long way to heal, but in the last three days he realized that something has to change.
"I'm here, Alexander, and I'm not going anywhere like I promised you," Magnus said tenderly and he wrapped an arm around Alec's waist to pull him close.
"I know, Magnus," Alec responded with a smile and looked back at his parents. His mother's attention was on him and she looked utterly heartbroken.
"I am so sorry for what your father said. I thought he would be respectful and fair for one time, but I can't apologize enough for his behavior. And Magnus," Maryse spoke directly to her son's future mate and Magnus took a deep breath to calm his nerves. "I am sorry that you had to listen to Robert's awful words. Nothing of it is true. I admit that we didn't expect you as Alec's mate, but Alec chose you and I am happy to see the both of you together so strong and inseparable. I hope you both can forgive me one day for not standing up for Alec earlier."
"I accept your apology. I can speak only for myself, but I hope we'll find a way to be friends, because I think it's important for Alec that we go along with each other."
Magnus reached out to squeeze Maryse's shoulder and Alec smiled gratefully at Magnus' token gesture. "It's okay, Mom. We will find a way to go throught it together."
"Oh Maryse, look at you, so pathetic and you are wondering why I took another woman into my bed," Robert laughed viciously and Magnus has to hold Alec back before he did something he would regret later.
"Come on, son. I know you want to pay me back, now you have your chance. You're just as weak as you always have been. But you aren't strong enough and today wasn't any better. If it wouldn't have been for the warlock, you would have obeyed to me. But look out, Alexander, you won't be happy for long..." Robert was interrupted again, because his wife has slapped him across the face.
"Shut up. We heard enough," Maryse scolded him.
Alec couldn't proceed what has happened in the past two hours since their arriving in the Institute. He tried to be strong and didn't let slipping his expression, because despite Magnus has been with him the entire time and his mother defending him, he just wanted to hide in the old closet down the hall like he did as a kid when he had the urge to cry. He said he would heal, but he didn't know how the pain his father had caused could ever go away.
"You should go. Bring him away from here, Magnus."
A gentle pull at his side and Magnus guided him out of the office. "Come on, darling. We go home."
Alec followed the words without resistance.

Notes:

So, what do you guys think?

I thought I would stick to the original storyline and let Robert having an affair. Maryse was strict, but she is a lot more nicer and loving as in the show, but she always did what Robert said. But the affair and Alec growing independent was the wake up call for her.

Well, the bad treating of Robert caused a lot of damage in Alec's soul since the emotional abuse started when he was very young.

What do you think if Alec will heal slowly with Magnus' help?

Chapter Text

Any mission or any fight have never felt more exhausting like the past one and a half days. Alec remembered how he has called Magnus for help when he got the message that Idris was attacked by demons. At this point the Clave already have known the truth about his second gender, but they had needed every Shadowhunter in the fight against Valentine, that was their major priority. But the Madam Inquisitor didn't waste another day and the morning after Valentine's defeat he found himself sitting in the office of the mating department. He read through at least fifteen profiles of suitable Alphas of both genders, because they had asked him about his preferences. He didn't care about the female Alphas, because he only prefered men. Homosexuality wasn't a crime in Idris and the Clave didn't care if the couples were traditional or not. But it was his mother's wish, so they gave him options of both genders.
It has been weird to look at all the stranger's photos while he only thought about the warlock with the caramel shaded skin and the yellow cat eyes. He knew Magnus prefered his brown ones in public, but he liked his eyes in both ways. Alec occupied himself with the task for a little over an hour when he put the files down, leaned back in the desk chair and requested to be assigned to Magnus as a mate. The Shadowhunter woman has been speechless for a moment and wanted to deny the request immediately, but Alec insisted that she spoke to the Madam Inquisitor, because he would only accept a denial of his request out of the mouth of Imogen Herondale.

To his surprise the Madam Inquisitor has came to only half an hour later and the both of them had a long conversaiton over his loyal service as a Shadowhunter since the day he had received his first rune and how he made a contribution in the fight against Valentine Morgenstern. The Clave finally understood that they could have never succeeded without the help of the Downworlders, especially the warlocks, to stop their mutual enemy and the Clave have been releaved that Valentine couldn't use the Angel's wish for his evil plans.
The Madam Inquisitor didn't see the concealment of his second gender as an actual crime, if anything then as an act of a rebellious teenager. Of course, Alec told her the real reasons, but not entirely everything, because there were some things he could barely talk about and wanted to keep private, and somehow Imogen showed understanding, but the law was the law. He needed to be mated.
His request was approved, althought she wasn't very appealed of a mating bond between a Shadowhunter and a Downworlder, especially Magnus Bane, because of his alliance with the Seelie Queen. But Alec made clear that Magnus didn't want to get against the Clave like the Seelie Queen had intented and he has just wanted to protect the warlocks. He also mentioned that Magnus had been on their side, but his responsibility towards the warlocks as the High Warlock of New York had been more important than his friendship with the Shadowhunters, but in the end he has helped to save Idris. Imogen's respond was only a nod and in the moment Alec hoped his words were enough to save Magnus from a further punishment. She emphasized that Alec could never conceive a child from a warlock, but he already knew it and he still wanted Magnus by his side. But Alec didn't miss as her lips curved upwards slightly at this point, like she would know a secret but didn't tell him. In his training he has learned to read facial expression and changing in body posture, and the woman definitely was retaining something. Maybe it was a weird assumptation, but Alec was determined to find it out.
It was surreal that all of this happened today. His request for the mating, the inofficial ceremony of the handing over to his new mate, their first kiss, the love confessions and his father's rant about his clear disapproval of his new life situation. It was rushed, he couldn't lie, but he wouldn't want it any other way and now Alec was in Magnus' loft what he could call his new home.

Magnus decided to distract himself while Alec took a hot shower and put Alec's few clothes in his wardrobe. He really needed to take Alec shopping in the next days, because he only owned a few pair of jeans, a plain selection of grey and black shirts and underwear in the same colours. Even though Alec looked very sexy in his clothes and especially in his leather jacket, he still needed trousers and button-downs of good quality and maybe a suit jacket, because Magnus planned to take him on fancy dates in the future and he wanted his mate to look dashing.
The personal items remained in the bag, because Alec should place them where he wanted.
With a sigh Magnus sat down on the edge of the bed and recalled the day in his mind. It has been a rollercoaster of emotinons for the both of them, but they have survived the day. Still it was a good day. Magnus couldn't believe how happy he was in the moment.
He never thought that the Clave would allow a Shadowhunter to be mated with a warlock and he really wanted to ask Alec about all details, but he would wait until tomorrow. Now he felt nervous again, even if he was so tired that he really considered to lay in all of his clothes on his bed to fall asleep. But he needed a shower himself and they must set who would sleep on which side of the bed when Alec still felt comfortable with sleeping next to him.
The shower stopped running a few minutes ago and Magnus used the time until Alec would come out to take his jacket and shoes off. He was still sitting when the door to his bathroom opened and Alec walked out dressed in an old shirt and his underwear. His scent was mixed with the smell of his own mixed shower gel. Magnus smiled at Alec who looked very tired. The young man stopped before the bed, unsure of what he should do next.
"How are you feeling?" Magnus asked him concerned.
"After the shower a little bit better, but I need to sleep," Alec admitted.
"Of course, feel free to lay down. I usually sleep on the right side of the bed, but if you want..."
"No, no, I don't want to interfere your routine. I'm perfectly fine with the left side."
Magnus was happy that he respected his habits and stood up to make space for Alec. He pulled back the duvet and climbed gracefully onto the bed. He looked over at Magnus who was still smiling when he made himself comfortable against the pillows. Alec knew that the Alpha was worried, because he hasn't been in the best condition when they have arrived in the loft. The encounter with his father didn't leave him unaffected, but maybe he was just used to being the disappointment of his father.
"Yes, I will rush in the shower and then I will join you. You can sleep already if you want to, you don't need to wait for me," Magnus responded and after Alec nodded he went to the bathroom.
Suddenly he regretted that he didn't ask to stay awake a few minutes more, because he showered fast and he wanted to know if he could maybe steal a good night kiss from Alec. It took him fifteen minutes to get done and he was prepared to find the Shadowhunter sleeping, but when he came back to the bedroom, Alec watched him wih his hazel eyes wide awake.
"You still up?" Magnus wondered with a slight smile and Alec shrugged his shoulders.
"I am tired, but I know that I can't sleep at the same time. Usually I would go in the training room and throw a few punches at the punching bag." Alec explained and kneaded his fingers agitated.
"I could summon a punching bag for you," Magnus suggested.
"No, maybe I should sleep on the couch. I don't want to disturb you..."
Magnus noticed the nervousness in his voice and he didn't want to give him the feeling that Magnus wouldn't want to deal with him. They were in the same boat now. He would always be there for Alec if he would need or want him.
"I said you could sleep here if you want to. You don't have to go, because you can't fall asleep. Maybe you want to read a book or we can talk or I could fetch you one of my potions."
Alec's gaze went down to his hands and seemed like he would consider his options.
"I would like if..."
"I can only help you when you tell me what you need," Magnus remarked softly.
"Okay... I... well, only if you want to... then I would really like you to hug me." The words came out quietly and shy spoken. It felt like the Alec from earlier and the Alec before him were two different persons. He knew how bold Alec can be and in the next moment he could be shy like little boy. But Alec was a grown adult who had to learn that it was okay to have needs and desires and he deserved to be taken care of. Maybe sometimes Alec was tired of being the leader like in the very moment and he needed Magnus to make him feel better.
"Anything you want, darling," Magnus confirmed and Alec looked content.
Their bodies fitted perfectly together. Alec was snuggled against his chest, his forhead touched Magnus' chin and their arms were tightly wrapped around each other. Alec took deep breaths to calm his racing heart, because feeling Magnus so close made him excited. He thought of the scenario when he would be in heat and he would lay in Magnus' arms like this, sweaty in the post-orgasmic bliss, bathed in both of their scents, bonded with the opportunity to feel what the partner felt, but then there came the fear. The fear of what Magnus would say and do when he knew what Alec did to himself, because the Alpha wouldn't be pleased that Alec endangered his health and fertility over all those years.
Alec remembered the words of the Madam Inquisitor that Magnus was infertile, but her facial expression while talking has been odd and Alec couldn't get rid of the thought that she has lied. That there was a chance that Alec could conceive from the Alpha's semen.
If they would find out that it was possible, but Alec wouldn't get pregnant because of the permanant use of suppressants, Alec knew the Alpha would reject him. Even when they were bonded, the Alpha could demand to break the mating bond and be matched with a fertile Omega. Although the law allowed the Omega to choose on his own to have pups, the Alpha could specify in their preferences before a matching that he wanted an Omega who is willing to carry pups.
In order to that the law allowed the Alpha to reject an infertile Omega and in rare occasions to break a mating bond. Alec hoped he would never dissapoint Magnus like that.
"I like that," he mumbled against the naked skin of Magnus' chest and his hot breath tickled a little on his skin.
"I can only agree with you," Magnus chuckled and Alec felt the vibrations under his cheek.
They laid in silence while Alec listened to beating of Magnus' heart. It beat a little faster so he assumed that Magnus felt nervous too.
"Thank you," Alec said in all seriousness. "For... just everything."

Alec lifted his head to press a kiss on Magnus’ cheek.
“You’re very welcome, Alexander,” Magnus replied and titled his head a little back to better look on the Omega. His scent grew stronger, a sign that Alec felt save in his presence. Magnus decided to take the chance.
“Can I kiss you?” he whispered when he slowly moved forward, but his eyes were focused on Alec. A simple nod was his answer.
Alec asked himself why he never tried to kiss Magnus before today. On many occasisons he has thought about how it would feel to kiss the Alpha. But the honest answer was that he had never dared to, because he thought that Magnus had only liked him as a friend. They both had been idiots, too close to be only good friends, but too afraid to be lovers.
Eventually Magnus bridged the distance between them and pressed his lips gently against Alec’s. His flattered shut and he leaned a little more forward to the Alpha. It was an innocent kiss, but his heart was about to burst out of his chest from happiness. He had the feeling the kiss was lasting forever, but he pulled back after a few seconds. Alec wanted to know if it was for Magnus as good as for him.
Alec separated from him and opened his eyes, but he was surprised for a moment when Magnus followed him and connected their mouths in another kiss. He placed his right in Alec’s neck, so he couldn’t pull away for a second time and began to massage fondly Alec’s lips to test if he would return his movements again.
Alec opened his mouth a little and kissed him back. Magnus’ smooth, warm lips fit perfectly together with his and Alec gasped as Magnus pushed him with body weight onto his back and wrapped his left around his lower back to pull him closer.
Magnus made his head spinning and he couldn’t think straight. It wasn’t their first kiss, but it felt better like the last ones. There was only the feeling of Magnus’ lips that sent a shiver down his back. Finally came movement in Alec’s limbs and he buried his hands in Magnus’ hair, slightly tugging on it. Magnus let out a groan and took the opportunity to intensify the kiss, because obviously Alec wanted more. Magnus changed the angle of his head kissing him more passionately.
The only thing Alec could think of was the warm hand on his back, the fingers digging into his flesh, the warm breath on his lips, the firm grip in his neck. All of this felt like a dream to him and he was afraid that he could wake every second.
Their kiss went hungrily, like the two of them could never get enough of each other.
Magnus got more courage and he showed it when the tip of his tongue licked Alec’s upper lip. Alec’s body shuddered from the sudden action, but he allowed the access. Carefully Magnus pushed through his lips and Alec met him halfway. He moaned as Magnus roamed his tongue and Magnus only kissed him more fervent. All the noises from the sinful mouth and how Alec’s body reacted to his touch drove him crazy. The Alpha in him wanted to devour the young Omega, but Magnus had to regain his control before he would do something for what Alec wasn’t ready yet.
Heavily panting Magnus broke the kiss and Alec looked up from half lidded eyes. His lips were red and swollen from kissing and his cheeks colored pink. Magnus wanted to kiss again until Alec would forget his own name.
“Why did you stop?” Alec asked with a hoarse voice.

Notes:

Things got a little steamy. Maybe it's only the Alpha and Omega in them who are reacting to each other...

Chapter Text

Alec craned his neck to catch the Alpha’s lips again and Magnus couldn’t deny the Omega’s craving. This time was no holding back and the kiss was messy, passionate and wet. Alec loved to feel Magnus’ weight on his body and the rising heat between them. He never wanted to miss the feelings that Magnus caused in him ever again.
The right hand held Alec’s face in place while Magnus’ mouth followed the line of his jaw and kissed every centimeter of the skin until he reached the scent glands on the side of the neck. The smell of oranges so sweet like he could literally taste the aroma on his tongue. He sucked on the slightly raised point and enjoyed the moans and gasped of the Omega.
“Please, Magnus, don’t stop. I need… oh, yes,” Alec mumbled incoherent and Magnus grew bolder. His hand left the side of Alec’s face and wandered over the collarbone down the hem of his shirt and slipped under the fabric the caress the warm skin. Meanwhile Alec’s hands explored the muscles and soft skin of his back and shoulders. Blunt nails left marks on Magnus' upper arms as his fingers traced the outlines of Alec's abs.
“We really need to stop, sweetheart. As much as I like kissing and touching you, but we need to rest,” Magnus spoke softly and Alec groaned frustrated when Magnus pulled away from him. Of course, the caressing and kissing didn’t leave their lower region unaffected, but Alec understood that they needed to stop before they would go too far.
“I promise you I will give you all of my attention for your needs and desires every day from now on,” Magnus whispered when he embraced Alec in his arms. The Omega felt protected and he hoped that the Alpha felt the same in his presence. They still shared a few gentle kisses on lips, foreheads and cheeks until both of them slowly fell asleep.

The next morning came fast after an uneventful night, but they still had trouble to sleep, too many thoughts didn’t let them rest properly. Alec woke up with a dull feeling in his head that would develop into a headache. He opened his eyes carefully because the sunlight was a little too bright. He knew it was long after his normal time to wake up but the sensed that Magnus wanted him get a few hours more sleep.
The Alpha was nowhere to be seen, but his side of the bed still lingered with his warmth and Alec buried his nose in the pillows. It smelled of course like Magnus and the scent calmed a little the coming headache.
Behind Alec was opened the door slowly and Magnus peeked his head to see how Alec rolled on his back and stretched his stiff arms. The eyes squeezed closed and the mouth agape in a yawning.
“Good morning, angel,” Magnus announced his entering and Alec blinked a few times until he focused on the Alpha. Alec starred surprised at him, because he saw the tray with two mugs and two plates full of fruits and slices of bread in his hands.
“Morning,” Alec responded with a smile. Magnus walked over to him to place the tray in the middle of the bed and then he captured his lips in a gentle kiss.
“Hmm… I just woke up, Magnus. I should brush my teeth first.”
“I don’t mind, darling,” Magnus replied grinning.
“And you made us breakfast. I never had breakfast in bed,” Alec stated and took a closer look on the tray. He didn’t know what he should eat first, but he reached for the fruits and popped a few grapes into his mouth.
“Yes, I know, you Shadowhunters got up always so early and don’t have time for luxurious things like this. Did you sleep well?”
Alec shrugged his shoulders. “It was good, but it only lasts a few hours and approximately from two forty it has been short episodes of sleep, but it felt nice when you held me in your arms.”
His smile grew bigger when he thought about last night and Magnus snickered at his expression.
“Yes, you’re right, but I remember other nice things as well.” The words were accompanied by a sassy wink. Alec felt his cheeks heating up and some other body parts showed interests on his thoughts as well. But he tried to ignore it and shifted his legs under the blankets.
“Oh you look so beautiful with that blush of yours,” Magnus complimented and took a sip of his coffee.
“Don’t you ever feel bashful?” Alec asked curiously and ate a slice of bread with butter.
Magnus inclined his head and thought about the question before he answered.
“Rarely. I learned to accept to my sexuality and don’t see it as something shameful. I am very open about it and most people see it as offensive and a bad trade. I hope you don’t share the opinion of the people, because I don’t intent to change myself. But if it makes you very uncomfortable I can be more attentive and I don’t tease you so often,” Magnus explained and offered with an honest smile.
Alec shook his head. “I don’t mind your teasing, but Shadowhunters aren’t so openly about sex and relationships. We know the basic things and that’s it. We don’t talk about things that happen in the bedroom.”
“That’s interesting, Alexander. What about you? Do you like to talk about the things that happen in the bedroom?”
“You really want to talk about sex over breakfast?” Alec raised an eyebrow.
“I don’t care about the time. Sex is something so wonderful…”
“Yeah, I get it.” The Alpha was interrupted abruptly and was taken aback by Alec’s harsh words.
“Are you alright?”
“I’m sorry and yes, I’m fine. It’s just… I can’t talk about it so carefree like you. You know what you’re talking about, but I have zero experience. I don’t know what penetrative sex or all the other stuff feels like. And I… you… I don’t want to disappoint you…”
Magnus clasped Alec’s shoulders firmly and stopped his flow of words with a kiss that would make Alec’s knees buckled if he wouldn’t lie in the bed.
“I don’t care how much experience you have, Alexander. And I doubt that you could disappoint me. I am more than happy to show and explain you everything and experience it with you together. We have so much time to find out what you like and don’t like.”
Indeed Magnus didn’t care if the Omega had never been intimate with anyone. Every person moved in their own tempo and if Alec never felt ready to be with someone then it was entirely his own business. Magnus wasn’t in a position to judge.
“You mean we have enough time after we’re mated, because my heat will come in the next days, I think, and I panic right now. I wish we could do this step by step in our own tempo, but we have…”
“Okay, Alec, you should take a deep breath. In and out, in and out. We do it together,” Magnus instructed in calm voice and breathed slowly with Alec in unison. They held eyesight the whole time and Magnus saw when Alec relaxed finally.
“Nothing is going to happen without your clear consent. I won’t pin you down and just claim you. Our mating will be something special and I will be gentle and careful with you. You deserve the full package of love making. I know the situation is new, but you don’t have to worry.”
The soothing words eased the floating panic under the surface of the last bit of control Alec tried to regain, because he hated the feeling of helplessness. A week ago he hadn’t thought that he would have an Alpha that will claim as his own like he was someone’s property. But Magnus wasn’t like any other Alpha, he gave him a choice and he knew that Magnus wouldn’t hurt him.
“I know that you wouldn’t do anything against my will. It’s just, it’s a big step for me, but I’m glad it’s you. I did mean it yesterday. I love you. I didn’t choose you out of arbitrariness.”
It touched Magnus’ heart to hear the three words out of Alec’s mouth again. He had to confess that he thought Alec might regretted to say ‘I love you’ at such early point in their relationship, but he was happy to hear Alec’s assuring words.
“I love you, too,” Magnus replied and caressed Alec’s cheek. The Omega nuzzled into the tender touch and both men smiled at each other.
It made Alec happy that they got along so well and could talk about everything so uncomplicated. Magnus has been the first person outside from his family and his parabatai that he felt completely comfortable around. Alec has been always a very serious person, but he knew from his sister that he smiled and laughed more since he has started to spend more time with Magnus. He knew that it won't always be perfect between them, but he believed in their love and somehow he knew as long as they got each other then it will going to be okay.

The couple enjoyed their breakfast together and Alec offered to wash the dishes, but of course Magnus used his magic to clean it. Sometimes he was jealous of the awesome things the warlock could do with the glimmer between his fingers.
“How much of the things you do daily is done in a mundane way?” Alec asked with honest interest when he watched Magnus arranged his potions and glasses full of different herbs and other ingredients with simple gestures of his hands. Magnus laughed whole-heartedly when he saw the stunned expression on Alec’s face.
“I do many things the mundane way,” Magnus answered vaguely. Alec sensed that his statement was a total lie, because Magnus even dressed himself and did his hair and make-up with magic this morning.
“Liar,” Alec stated deadpanned and squinted his eyes. Magnus turned his head to him and burst out laughing even louder.
"You may be right, but when you had lived as long as I did then you know that you can save much more time for things that are way more fun."
"Like what?" Alec mocked. "Partying in your club?"
"That was one of my favorite things to do before the Shadowhunters and especially you started to consuming my free time. You know it's fascinating how fast you can switch between the shy boy and the confident man. I have the assumptation that your bold and all heroic manner, your Shadowhunter mode, is just something you trained yourself on. A façade so people won't see who you really are and you just hide behind all of that," Magnus assumed in a serious tone and looked over to Alec who quickly lowered his gaze.
"I assume I am right," Magnus added with a gentle smile.
The people that could see behind the walls he had built up around himself were very rare. He could count them with all his fingers. Magnus owned a good knowlegde of human nature and he knew Alec very well.
"Don't worry, I like this side on you. I can't wait to explore how bossy you can be in the bedroom," Magnus snickered and Alec wanted to hide himself somewhere the Alpha couldn't find him. He was the only man who could make him feel embarrassed so many times in just two days. Alec wasn't sure if he would survive all the constant teasing. Of course, he said he didn't mind it, but he regretted his words right now.
Two fingers lifted Alec's head from under his chin and he looked in Magnus' brown eyes.
"Good then for me that you're a warlock who has enough time," Alec grinned and Magnus shook his head smiling.
"We are going to have so much fun together, Alexander."

Vacation was a foreign word for Alec. He wasn't used to sleep in and have a long breakfast with his... well, what should he actually call Magnus now. He was his Alpha, but it wasn't common anymore to call someone by his second gender, because it was disrespectful towards Omegas. And a mating bond wasn't a legal marriage, it was just a union between two people. So, Magnus was just his boyfriend which meant he wouldn't have any legal rights in medical matters or anything else unless they would get married or Alec would sign a special contract that allowed the Alpha to have access to him and any information in the case of an emergency.
When Alec thought about the law rights that were provided for Omegas, then he was lucky to live in the twenty-first century. At the time his grandparents and parents were mated the Omegas had less rights. They had been owned by their Alphas and needed the Alpha's permission for almost everything, but the revulotion came in the last twenty years after many people had protested against the old-fashioned laws and the Madam Inquisitor understood that it had been time to change something. He understood that the process was slowly and an Omega still had less rights than Alphas and Betas, because the mating law was still active and there was no right to terminate a pregnancy unless the Alpha woud give his permission or there was a medical issue. An old law had obligated that every Omega must have at least one pup. But today an Omega decided for themselves and free contraception was provided.
Again he thought about the possibility that he has damaged his health irrepealable. Alec has never occured of having his own pups and he knew that maybe the Omega inside him triggered the wish of carrIng Magnus' pups, but Alec has thought it since he started to develop feelings for the Alpha.
He knew that his pre-heat slowly started, because he has felt more hot than usual the last night and he would need to take a nap later to save his energy for the up-coming heat. And also knew that he needed to tell Magnus the story of living like an Beta for the last seven years, because Magnus had a right to know.
Alec has been so lost in his thoughts that he didn't hear the knocks on the loft's door while he arranged his books and personal items in Magnus' bedroom.
"Oh, I'm so happy to see you, Magnus. Where have you been the whole time? You didn't answer your phone. You weren't at home yesterday. I was worried for you," Caterina spoke too fast for Magnus' liking and just pulled her into her brief hug.
"I'm fine. My reply to your phone calls and messages weren't an invation to come over immadiately."
Caterina furrowed confused. "You never mind when I come over. Do you have a visitor? Well, it's already noon and he should be gone by now usually. So... something is off with you. Wait, it's the Shadowhunter, right? Alexander was his name."
Magnus rolled his eyes and was a little annoyed that his best friend could read him like an open book, but he just pursed his lips as an answer.
"And was it good?" Caterina wiggled her eyebrows laughing and the noise let Alec peek his head out of the bedroom. The woman noticed Alec in the bedroom door and Magnus followed her gaze.
"What was good?" Alec asked curiously and greeted Caterina as he came over to them.
"That's not important, Alec. Caterina wanted to leave," Magnus commented meaningful and Caterina walked past him instead of leaving.
"It's very nice to see you again, Alec," she answered and sat down on the sofa. Alec saw that Magnus wasn't pleased with the arrival of the new guest, but he didn't know if it was because of him or Magnus wasn't in the mood for visitors.
"If I would have known that the the two finally took the next step then I wouldn't have come."
"I don't mind that you're here, but it isn't the perfect timing," Magnus insisted.
"I see, you want to take your lover back to bed, but I need a few ingredients for a potion and I wanted to ask if you could help me out."
Magnus sighed defeated while both of the men still were standing by the open door.
"Alright, what do you need? I'll be quick and then you will be on your way."
"Don't worry. I didn't intent to interrupt your love affair or whatever it is," Caterina remarked nonchalantly. Magnus fetched the list with her required ingredients out of her left hand.
"We aren't having a love affair. Alexander is my partner."
"Congratulations. I'm happy for you that you're both now in a serious relationship."
"Thanks, but it's actually more than that," Magnus mumbled the last words and fled into the other room, so Caterina couldn't ask what his words meant.
She looked confused at Alec and his nervousness flared up again. Caterina was an Omega like Alec, but she didn't have smelled his sweet scent of orange and bergamot at first, because she had been so focused on Magnus. But now she inhaled deeply throught her nose and her jaw dropped in atonishment.
"Magnus and I are... well, the Clave assigned as to be mates," Alec explained carefully.
"Your Omega is a Shadowhunter! How could that happen?" she shouted in Magnus' direction.

While Caterina and Magnus were discussing that it was impossible to be mated with a Shadowhunter and Magnus clearly talked in favour of Alec and himself, none of them noticed the young woman who stood in the doorway to the loft and knocked softly on the wooden door.
The three persons turned shocked around and the woman had their full attention.
"How can I help you?" Magnus tried to sound polite, but the woman just smiled friendly.
"My name is Lavinia Whitmore. The Omega Care Center sent me to check on the Omega Alexander Lightwood."

Chapter Text

Three pair of eyes starred at the young woman that stood in the doorway to Magnus’ loft.
“Excuse me, Miss Whitmore, but who send you? You’re thirty days early,” Magnus said in demanding voice and Lavinia raised her eyebrows confused. She heard the lace of the Alpha voice in Magnus’ words, but tried to ignore it and keeping up her smile.
“My apologies, Alpha, but I think I’m very early since you have been only matched yesterday.”
Magnus looked taken aback when she called him ‘Alpha’. Something no one called him in a long time, because it wasn’t common anymore. He sniffed in the air if he could catch any smell of the woman, but it was as neutral as it could be. He was sure the woman has used scent blockers.
“Yes, that’s right, but the Clave…”
“I am deeply sorry if I interrupted a family business and made you upset, Alpha. I can assure you that I am only here to bring a care package for you and your Omega.”
Lavinia pushed the door ajar and Magnus’ eyes flicked down to the big basket that was placed on the floor. A big, blue bow was draped on top of the handle.
“Oh, well, that’s very nice,” Magnus mumbled and looked irresolute at Alec. The Omega has followed the conversation with concern, but now he realized how impolite they have been to the woman.
“Please, come in,” Alec granted her access to the loft and she seemed very happy about the invitation. She bent down to grab the basket, but Alec was a little faster.
“I will help you with that,” he insisted with a smile and brought the basket over the dining table.
Lavinia was so polite and closed the door behind her. She understood that the Alpha’s feelings took overhand for a moment, because she knew that mostly it wasn’t a good sign when an employee of the Omega Care Center ringed the doorbell. But she wasn’t here, because they did anything wrong. It was usual to send a social worker to a new matched couple to help them settle in while they were in the process of forming a mating bond.
“It’s very kind of you to invite me in, but if I interrupt something, we can reschedule a new appointment. I know it’s very spontaneous to come today, but I have a free afternoon.”
“Don’t worry. We’re just surprised, that’s all,” Alec appeased her and his gaze wandered to Catarina who still sat on the couch and watched the situation with a neutral expression.
“That’s Magnus’ friend, Catarina Loss.”
Catarina nodded to Lavinia and her mouth formed a genuine smile now.
“Nice to see you again, Cat,” Lavinia replied with a bright smile. “How’s your husband?”
“Indeed. Ragnor is very well, thank you for asking. I think this is a business visit and I don’t want to bother anymore. Lavinia, I’m sure we will see each other again and I would love to meet you soon. I’ll call you tomorrow,” Catarina answered in a hurried manner, but her words weren’t less friendly.
“Yes, I look forward to it. Take care!” Lavinia gave the dark-haired woman a warm hug and Catarina took the ingredients she asked for out of Magnus’ hands.
Alec said goodbye to Catarina and Magnus brought her to the door. Lavinia looked after them while she felt happy to have met her old friend again. Catarina had visited the Institute in London with her Alpha Ragnor Fell a year ago. The women became good friends and they have been in contact since then. Sadly, they didn’t see each other as often as they want to, because Lavinia didn’t live in New York City.

“Miss Whitmore, is that right?” Magnus asked friendlier when he came back.
“It’s Mrs. Whitmore, but you can call me Lavinia,” she snickered and shook hands with Magnus. The Alpha was still confused about the whole situation, but Lavinia stayed polite and friendly, she didn’t take it personally. Most of the Alpha’s were careful when it came to the safety to their Omegas.
“Yeah, okay, nice to meet you, Lavinia. I’m Magnus Bane and that’s my partner Alexander, the one you’re looking for.”
“I’m delighted to meet you, too. It’s great that you have time for me. I think it won’t take long, because I’m only here to deliver the care package. Just a few essentials you might need and could be handy.”
“I never heard that the Omega Care Center would send a care package,” Magnus commented interested and Lavinia shrugged smiling.
“Well, we do this for a year now. Many Omegas suggested that they would welcome a starter package. The basket contains a few necessary things for the mating and we’re happy to provide it.”
Alec eyed the basked with curiosity, but he wasn’t sure what Lavinia’s intentions were. He has heard of the Omega Care Center, but unfortunately nothing good. It was known that the Centers advocated the old laws of an Alpha owning their Omega and he got suspicious, because Lavinia called Magnus continually by his second gender.
“And what’s inside?” Alec asked a little excited. Despite his usual leery manner towards strangers he seemed very thrilled over the gift Lavinia brought for them.
“Oh, of course, you unpack it and look for yourself. The basket contains three very soft and fleecy blankets in the colors light blue, purple and black for your nest.” Her cheeks turned pink at the words. “We can swap them, if you don’t like the colors,” she added quickly.
“I’m sure we’ll like them,” Magnus emphasized friendly.
“Alright, we have nonperishable groceries like dried fruits, granola bars, chocolate, pastries, and some rooibos and chamomile tea. We can deliver a supply of water bottles for your heat if you like. Furthermore we put some condoms and contraception pills in addition. And if you’re the romantic type, there are even some vanilla scented candles and some other little surprises to make your mating very special,” Lavinia explained proudly and Alec felt overwhelmed when he thought that he didn’t consider to make any arrangements for his heat. His mind has been so occupied with over thinking if he made the right decision for Magnus and himself when he requested their mating. He totally forgot that he needed to build a nest and getting some kind of prevention for a possible pregnancy. His inner Omega wailed in protest, because this side of him wanted a pup from the Alpha, but he wasn’t sure how Magnus thought about the whole topic of having pups. Although Alec didn’t know if he could even conceive from the Alpha. It would be delicate topic to talk about with Magnus, because Alec was still afraid that the Alpha wouldn’t want him anymore in order of his past, but it was necessary.

“That’s very generous of you,” Magnus replied with a lopsided smile.
“Generous? It’s a shame if you ask me,” Lavinia said exasperated.
Magnus’ eyes widened in surprise. “Well, you brought it here, but you didn’t have to…”
She shook her head in disagreement. “That’s not what I meant. The Care Packages should be self-evident.”
“That sounds like you aren’t satisfied with the things the Center provides,” Magnus noted curiously.
“No, currently I’m not. We’re trying for years to lead the Centers onto a new course and to get rid of the old image, but the Clave doesn’t approve our new ideas. We aren’t there for putting rebellious Omegas into their place or encouraging them to have as many pups as they could. The Clave doesn’t even give us enough budget to hire new staff. We’re so understaffed that we work seven days a week, so that we could manage to visit and help the new couples and give them options like counseling interviews and access to medical help, especially for the Omegas. We have partner hospitals that got good ratings from many couples for how good the Omegas were treated there. We’re really working on to make our society better and we hope to become independent from the Clave, so that we can make our own decisions and don’t need the Clave’s permission for everything,” Lavinia ranted without taking a breath and her face got red and heated.
The couple was shocked about Lavinia’s fuss and watched how the blonde-haired woman sat down on one of the chairs on Magnus’ dining table.
“I’m sorry,” she mumbled and buried her face in her hands with a frustrated sigh.
Magnus couldn’t explain what his words broke in her, but he was relieved to hear that she wasn’t one of the people which wanted the old days back. A modern woman on her way to conquer the Clave to make a better life for all of the Omegas.
“You don’t have to be sorry. I think you’re right,” Magnus responded gentle and Lavinia looked up at him. Her grey eyes watched him with gratefulness and she offered a slight smile.
“I’m usually a very calm person, but I feel very stressed in the moment and I really tried to stick myself together, but when you said how generous the care package was, well, I think the Clave could do so much more for the Omegas.”
“It’s a beginning,” Alec added with a stern voice.
Lavinia uttered a mirthless laugh. “We fought four months to provide a care package. We only achieved it with donations, but meanwhile we got benefits of sixty percent from the Clave. It’s an achievement, but we still have a long way. We’re planning to cooperate with self-employed midwives, because the hospital won’t give the chance for at home births, but the Clave isn’t appealed of the idea.”
Alec was confused as he heard for the first time that it couldn’t be possible to have a pup in a home birth. But he never really thought about how the whole birthing process would work, because he never thought that he would have a mate so early.
“It’s terrible to hear that even the care that is provided for Omegas are subject to supervision of the Clave,” Magnus commented with dislike in his voice.
“Well, my husband is one of the lawyers of the Omega Care Center and he and his team are in negotiations with the Clave to create a new law that makes us independent.”
Magnus listened with great interest and detected that Lavinia was one of the good people in their society. In his past he wasn’t appealed of the Shadowhunters and their devotion to the law, but Lavinia and her husband wanted to change the law in the favor of the Omegas and everyone else.
“Is it your lawyers’ success that the Clave finance you the sixty percents of the care packages?” Alec asked this time and Lavinia’s attention was on the other Omega.
“Yes, my husband and his team campaigned for the interests of the Center even before we were mated. He’s a great lawyer and does his best to help us. One of the many reasons I married him,” she stated with genuine smile and it made Alec smiling too.
Alec thought that Lavinia’s husband was similar to Magnus. The warlock took care of the Downworlders and fought for an equivalent treatment through the Clave, but sadly only a war against Valentine Morgenstern had provoked that the Clave permitted them more rights.
The change came slowly and the oppression of the Downworlder decreased. The allowed mating between Magnus and Alec was only one of the first signs for it.
“I assume your husband has also other good qualities?” Magnus replied with a wink and Lavinia giggled quietly with an anew blush on her cheeks.
“I can assure you he does. But you must know him, because he talked a few times of a warlock named Bane. I think that’s you.”
Magnus frowned and let Lavinia’s words sink in. He knew a warlock with the name Whitmore, but her Alpha must be a Shadowhunter.
“I see you’re confused. The answer to your unspoken question is that my husband’s name is Damon Whit more and he’s warlock like you.”
“You’re mated to a warlock? I thought we’re the only couple,” Alec chimed in surprised.
Lavinia was confused from Alec’s words and shook her head negatively.
“But the Madam Inquisitor told me we’re the first couple to be mated,” he remarked determining and his expression showed utter shock.
“Yes, that’s true, but only here in America. Damon and I live in London, and we’re the second couple in Europe. The third couple lives in Singapore. But we’re only mated for two months now, so everything is still new.”
“I thought the victory over Morgenstern made the Clave realize that the Downworlders are on their side and the Madam Inquisitor approved of our union, because the both of us made a great impact to win this war.”
Lavinia frowned pensive and looked over at Magnus after a few minutes in silence. The couple needed time to process the news and Lavinia understood that they asked themselves why Imogen Herondale concealed the truth from them.
“I think it was a conclusion that the Madam Inquisitor granted your matching, because you were already a couple,” Lavinia spoke carefully and Magnus’ gaze went back to her after Alec and he shared a long glance of uncertainty.
“We weren’t a couple, but very close friends. I requested the match with Magnus,” Alec answered hesitant and Lavinia’s eyes widened surprised.
“It was the same with us,” she answered still in thoughts. “Damon made the request by the Clave and they approved within a few hours. We got the official papers from a messenger of the Clave without a personal consultation. And we mated twelve days later. We were shocked as well when we later found out that we were the second couple of a warlock and a Shadowhunter. The couple in Singapore was the first, Katherine Goldsmith, she’s warlock and an Omega, and Akeno Park, a Shadowhunter and an Alpha. They mated and got married two and a half months months ago and based on their Instagram account they seem very happy in their honeymoon. Later we learned that there is a third couple in Italia. The female Omega, Gianna De Luca, is a good friend of me. I worked in the Institute in Rome for a while. The Alpha is Pierre Dupont, he’s a warlock from France and they were mated three weeks after Damon and me.”

Magnus listened to Lavinia with great concern that she had access to information like the names and date of marriage and mating of each couple.
“Why are you entitled to know this?” he asked in a strained voice.
“The Omega Care Center has access to this information, because we have to take care of the Omegas. We obligated to handle the information privately, but you don’t know anything about the development in the Clave and their new plans for changing the laws to allow all Shadowhunters and Downworlders to match with who they want to, but that’s still a secret. I just wanted to help, that’s all. I promise I won’t tell anyone that you know about the couples. But the Madam Inquisitor thought that I would be great if I visit you personally, because we have the same couple constellation,” she explained truthfully and Magnus believed her.
Lavinia didn’t seem like she wanted to harm them. It wasn’t a coincidence that she visited them today like she revealed a few seconds ago, but it was neither a coincidence that four couples suddenly were matched and consisted of a warlock and a Shadowhunter.
“Don’t you think it’s strange that the Clave allows only Shadowhunters and warlocks to mate?” Alec initiated the train of thoughts. Lavinia didn’t know the answer of this question, because Damon and she tried to figure it out since they found out the truth. They didn’t hear of other cases of unusual couples in the Shadow World. Alec was right with his assumption and she was sure that there was more behind their match than an act of generosity.
“Alexander is right. Do you or does your husband knows anything further why the Clave didn’t allow any other Downworlders to mate?” Magnus inquired.
“I’m sorry, but I don’t know more than I told you. Damon spoke with his contact person in the Clave, but they told him that everything is fine. Maybe they just wanted to start somewhere and have a step-to-step plan. You know, first Shadowhunter and warlocks, then maybe warlock with vampires as partners or werewolves and seelies, and so on. But the Clave didn’t make anything official and I’m sure many of us don’t even know anything.” Lavinia shrugged helplessly and shook her head at the same time in disbelief.
“I should have known that Imogen didn’t want to be just kind and generous. There must be more behind it than good intentions,” Magnus stated concerned and he sensed how angry he started to get on the Madam Inquisitor for using Alec and him as her guinea pigs in order of the Clave’s mysterious plans. He feared that imminence of the trembling uncertainty and he didn’t know how he could prevent his Omega and himself from getting hurt.
“Did you plan to tell us about the other couples and that the Clave could have any plans that might harm us when you came here?” Alec asked and his voice was laced with worry.
“My duty was to check on you and bring you the care package. Everything else wasn’t planned. I didn’t come to warn you, because I don’t see a threat, but the both of you changed how I think about the whole situation. My major concern is now how we should deal with it, because I don’t know what we should do next.”
“We need to find out what the Clave persuaded to make exceptions from the law and what this new law contains your husband told you about,” Alec reasoned and Magnus nodded assertive.
“Alright, I talk to Damon and when I know more than I’ll let you know,” Lavinia responded. She grabbed her purse that lay on the dining table and searched until she found her phone. “We could exchange phone numbers, if you like.”

Alec went to get his phone from the bedroom and Magnus looked after him. He should have known that everything was too good to be true and his dream of a happy life with Alec threatened to burst into million pieces. Lavinia noticed his doleful gaze and looked sheepish.
“I’m sorry if I made you feel insecure about your match with Alec, but I hope that you don’t think that all of this is a mistake. I know you don’t need an advice without being asked, but I would choose Damon all over again and mate with him gladly, even if I had known everything.”
Magnus’ eyes snapped towards Lavinia and she watched him with an encouraging smile. He felt caught, because he really thought that it wouldn’t be a good idea to mate, but on the other side he couldn’t imagine a life without the Shadowhunter anymore.
“It’s sweet of you that you want to help,” Magnus answered with a tentative smile and Lavinia nodded knowingly. She stood up from the chair when Alec came back with his phone in his hand. After they saved the numbers in their contacts and Lavinia assured them that she’ll message them if she know anything new, she decided that it was time to leave. She liked both of the men and hoped that Magnus would remember her advice.
“It was very kind of you to visit us today,” Alec said smiling and Lavinia repeated the gesture.
“It was my pleasure. I offer you my friendship and I’m sure if my husband would get to know you, he would say the same. Take good care of each other. And I would be great if you would call or message me when you’re mated. Just for the records.”
“We’ll do. Stay safe, Lavinia. You have our friendship as well,” Magnus replied and with a last goodbye Lavinia walked out of the door.

The events of the last few days have rolled over one another and Magnus was frustrated that he couldn’t just focus on his relationship with Alec. The Shadowhunter closed the door behind their visitor and he turned around to watch the Alpha. Magnus let his head hung down and Alec knew instinctively that something was wrong.
“Are you okay, Mags?” he asked carefully, but the warlock didn’t react.
Alec wasn’t sure what he should do, but he couldn’t just ignore the fact that Magnus wasn’t feeling well.
“Do you want to talk about it?” Alec tried again, but Magnus just stood in the middle of the loft and starred at the floor.
“I want to help you, but you have to tell me how. We are in this together and I don’t want our relationship to fail from the start by doing something wrong.”
“You won’t do something wrong, Alexander. I… I’m afraid that I’ll do something wrong,” Magnus muttered under his breath and Alec could barely understand him.
“No, Magnus, if I could do nothing wrong, then the same goes for you. Do you think this, because Lavinia said that you shouldn’t consider our mating as a mistake?” Alec spoke in understanding and Magnus looked up at him in shock.
“You heard what she said?”
“The walls are thin and she didn’t whisper it,” Alec chuckled lightly. “But it’s okay if the thought crossed your mind. You don’t need to be ashamed. I have the same thoughts, but I won’t let them control me. I love you, and I want to be your mate. Well, if you still want me, of course.”
“You really ask me, if I want you? I want you with all of my heart and soul, Alexander. I want all of you and I’ll give you all of me. You’re right. We can’t let us control from fear and insecurity or from the Clave. That are our lives and I want to spend mine with you.”
“That’s what I wanted to hear,” Alec answered happily and pulled the warlock into a searing kiss. They both stood there in each other embrace while sharing kisses and the knowledge in their mind that they would fight together against whatever might come.

Notes:

Would you like to know more about Lavinia and Damon? I could write short characteristics about them.

Like always I would appreciate kudos and comments :D
